The Cost of Knowing

Bill Knott seemed, the other day, to assume that I posted here the list of books I had read in May because I wanted to be recognized for my reading ability. (I'm extrapolating, but that's what I extrapolated from what he said.) Why I actually post is to provide evidence of my mania for poetry, to let those whose works I've read (and who might care that I've read it) know about it, and merely to document my own life, which is a constant acti...

Publications Read in May 2010
My reading this month continued with plenty of individual publications and plenty of poetry. I read through 73 publications this month, many of them quite short, but plenty were full-length books (considering what that means in the world of poetry). I wish I had the time tonight to sit down and finish the final 50 pages of David Bromige's Desire: Selected Poems, 1963-1987, but I simply don't, so that will be the first book I will finish in June.

Films Watched in May 2010
I managed to watch a mere 22 films this month, fewer than one a month, but total for the year is 190, which is 39 more than I need to have watched by this point in the year. In total, these films represent 1899 minutes of my time (or 31.65 hours), which is quite a significant allotment of time. Averaged out over the month, these film took up 61¼ minutes of my time each day for the month of May, which is long enough for most films, though most tend to be longer.
