‘I will be fighting back’: Columnist fired for false accusations against Charlie Kirk files grievance against WaPo

Karen Attiah (Substack post screenshot)

Karen Attiah (Substack post screenshot)Karen Attiah

Columnist Karen Attiah filed a legal grievance against The Washington Post on Wednesday after she was fired for her false accusations against Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

The Post fired Attiah in mid-September for falsely accusing Kirk of stating that “black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously.” After lamenting her firing as a “hasty overreach,” the columnist’s grievance claims that the Post violated the company’s labor policy by not allowing her to supposedly speak “truthfully and forcefully about matters of vital public concern,” The New York Times reported.

“Yes I will be fighting back against the unjust firing by @washingtonpost.com. I have filed a grievance and will be represented by none other than the amazing @katiephang.bsky.social and an incredible legal team. Journalistic freedom is a bedrock of a healthy society and is worth battling for,” Attiah wrote on BlueSky, a left-wing social media platform.

Attiah submitted a four-page letter to the Post’s head of human resources seeking to recover damages over her firing, the Times reported. The Post informed the columnist in a termination letter that her remarks about Kirk were “unacceptable,” constituted “gross misconduct” and endangered the safety of colleagues.

The Post’s policies and standards require employees to use social media responsibly and civilly, and to treat people with respect, according to The Times.

The Post did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

The columnist made the accusations against Kirk on Sept. 10, the day that Kirk was assassinated. While she later acknowledged that Kirk specifically referred to fired MSNBC host Joy Reid, former first lady Michelle Obama and others for crediting affirmative action for their careers, she doubled down on her baseless claims that Kirk was a racist.

“Hey everyone, in the heat of things, I originally saw this quote in a piece in the Nation, and their quote has since been updated to specify that it was specific to Joy Reid, Michelle Obama, etc. But Kirk’s clearly anti-black statements speak for themselves,” Attiah wrote in a BlueSky post on Sept. 18, citing The Guardian.

After her firing, Attiah complained in a Substack post that black people like herself were being silenced while the U.S. mourned another white man, such as Kirk. She further wrote that the reaction to Kirk’s death is another example of society “giving compassion for white men who commit and espouse political violence.”

“I pointed to the familiar pattern of America shrugging off gun deaths, and giving compassion for white men who commit and espouse political violence. This cycle has been documented for years. Nothing I said was new or false or disparaging— it is descriptive, and supported by data,” Attiah wrote.

WATCH: Hillary Clinton blames white Christian men for ‘such damage’ to America

The United States of America actually was on the road to being “the more perfect union,” according to Hillary Clinton.

But then … white Christian men!

The elder statesperson of the Democrat Party, who was first lady, who was secretary of state, and who failed miserably in two campaigns for the White House, once losing to Barack Obama and once losing to Donald Trump, has opinions certainly valued by a part of America.

A part that likely overlaps considerably with the extremists who now oppose everything that Trump, in his second term as president, is trying to do: Secure the border, deport criminals, build the economy, make housing affordable, return taxes to Americans, rebuild the nation’s reputation around the world, end wars and such.

She was being interviewed, and said, “And I am proud of the fact that we have always been a work in progress. You know, we haven’t gotten to the more perfect union and we fought a civil war over part of it. And people have been protesting, you known, for hundreds of years. Uh. That things were not as they should be given our ideals and how we should be moving toward them.”

She said that’s what “makes us so special as a country.”

Except for those white Christian men, of course.

“And the idea that you could turn the clock back and try to re-create a world that never was, dominated by— you know, let’s say it, white men, uh— of a certain persuasion, uh— certain religion, uh— certain point of view, a certain ideology, is just doing such damage to what we should be aiming for,” she said.

She claimed, “We were on the path toward that.”

She wasn’t finished, adding that it is the administration of President Donald Trump has gone, in her word, “authoritarian.”

She earned a sharp online rebuke for projecting what she and other Democrats have done onto Republicans, and claiming that’s what the more conservative party is doing.

Mind blowing that the left has the nerve to send Hillary Clinton out there as their mouthpiece and claim that Trump is censoring Americans.

A commenter said, “Mind blowing that the left has the nerve to send Hillary Clinton out there as their mouthpiece and claim that Trump is censoring Americans. After everything they did to silence us, Hillary Clinton goes on TV and lists out everything they did under the Biden administration and claims that it’s what Trump is doing. ‘I view it as very dangerous. It is right out of the authoritarian playbook… Silence your opponents. Cripple the media that doesn’t give you the slavish attention and agreement that you desire. Use the power of the government to go after corporations and individuals.’ Astonishing. Direct bullet points from their own playbook. Google just admitted yesterday that they were forced by the Biden administration to censor his opponents. The projection is at an all time high because they are out of ammunition.”

‘Crossfire Hurricane’: James Comey to be indicted in coming days

Former FBI Director James Comey appearing on CNN on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 (Video screenshot)Former FBI Director James Comey testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Sept. 30, 2020.

According to MSNBC, former FBI Director James Comey is expected to be indicted in the Eastern District of Virginia in the next few days.

Comey will reportedly be charged for lying to Congress in a 2020 testimony about whether he authorized leaks to the media.

President Trump last week fired Erik Siebert as the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia because he refused to bring charges against Letitia James, Comey, Schiff and others.

On Saturday evening, President Trump announced that he had appointed Lindsey Halligan as US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Lindsey Halligan served as one of President Trump’s personal lawyers during the unconstitutional raid on his Mar-a-Lago residence.

Per MSNBC reporter Ken Dilanian:

Former FBI Director James Comey, for years the target of President Trump’s ire, is expected to be indicted in the coming days in the Eastern District of Virginia, where a prosecutor who opposed bringing the case was recently fired, three sources familiar with the matter told MSNBC.

The full extent of the charges being prepared against Comey is unclear, but the sources believe that at least one element of the indictment—if it goes forward–will accuse him of lying to Congress during his testimony on September 30, 2020 about whether he authorized a leak of information. The five year statute of limitations on that charge would lapse on Tuesday.

Newly declassified memos reveal James Comey’s secret media mole, Daniel Richman, leaked classified information to The New York Times’s Michael Schmidt to help push for a special counsel in May 2017.

It was previously reported that James Comey penned nine memos stemming from his conversations with President Trump – and then leaked them through his Columbia University law professor ‘friend’ Daniel Richman.

The leaks ultimately worked. On May 17, 2017, then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Robert Mueller to serve as Special Counsel to investigate the Trump-Russia collusion hoax.

On September 30, 2020, James Comey testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on the “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation. Investigators say Comey lied about whether he authorized leaks.

The indictment would have to be handed down before the five-year statute of limitations expires.

Last week, it was reported that James Comey’s secret media mole, Daniel Richman, had been subpoenaed in a federal investigation into the leaks.

‘Savage terrorist’: Pentagon to ask Trump to OK execution of convicted Fort Hood shooter

S

Nidal Hasan

The Department of War will ask President Donald Trump for final approval to execute the Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Hasan, a DOW official told the Daily Caller News Foundation exclusively.

The execution, if approved by Trump, would be the first carried out by the military since 1961. Hasan, a former Army Major and psychiatrist turned radical Islamic terrorist, killed 13 people and wounded 32 others during his notorious rampage on the Army base in 2009.

“I am 100 percent committed to ensuring the death penalty is carried out for Nidal Hasan,” Hegseth exclusively told the DCNF. “This savage terrorist deserves the harshest lawful punishment for his 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood. The victims and survivors deserve justice without delays.”

Hasan is currently imprisoned in the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Hasan lost his final appeal to his 2013 death sentence in April 2025, according to the San Antonio Express.

Under the Army’s regulations, the Army Secretary put forward the recommendation for Hasan’s execution. It was then passed to the Secretary of War to give “additional recommendation to the President,” the DOW official told DCNF.

“Inmate Hasan’s packet is now in the staffing process for presidential action,” the DOW official said.

Service members are governed by the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and thus are subject to different procedures should they receive the death sentence. Hasan is one of four people on military death row, according to the Death Penalty Information Center.

Hasan told a military mental health panel that the shooting was justified because the victims were “going against the Islamic Empire,” according to the New York Times in 2014. However, the Army controversially decided not to pursue terrorism charges at the time, the Pentagon instead designating the shooting as “workplace violence.”

The Trump administration has consistently shown its willingness to exercise capital punishment as a valid form of justice for particularly heinous crimes.

The White House did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

‘Fired indiscriminately’: Leftist sniper shoots at ICE facility, kills detainees instead of officers

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem participates in a virtual Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Review Council third public meeting at DHS Headquarters in Washington, D.C., Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025. (DHS photo by Tia Dufour)

Leftist politicians and their supporting media corporations have been unleashing inflammatory rhetoric about President Donald Trump’s agenda for border security and the deportation of illegal alien criminals since before he took office.

And leftist violence against those enforcing the nation’s laws, the officers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has been surging.

Now it’s left two detainees dead, the victims of a sniper who was firing indiscriminately at an ICE facility in Dallas.

Reports have identified the shooting suspect at Joshua Jahn, 29, who was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound near the scene of Wednesday’s shooting.

Authorities reported one of the bullet casings left behind in the attack was inscribed “anti-ICE.”

“The shooter fired indiscriminately at the ICE building, including at a van in the sallyport where the victims were shot,” a statement from the Department of Homeland Security explained.

Another detainee was injured.

Reports revealed Jahn had a record, for a felony marijuana case in Texas in 2016, for which he pleaded guilty and served probation.

No law enforcement officers were injured.

The same location had been hit with a bomb threat in August, and other shootings happened at ICE operations in Alvaredo on July 4 and a Border Patrol location in McAllen days later.

“This vile attack was motivated by hatred for ICE,” charged Kristi Noem, Homeland Security secretary. “For months, we’ve been warning politicians and the media to tone down their rhetoric about ICE law enforcement before someone was killed.

“This shooting must serve as a wake-up call to the far-left that their rhetoric about ICE has consequences,” Noem said.

In fact, on Rumble was posted a video of leftist California Gov. Gavin Newsom blasting ICE just hours earlier:

This morning just before 7am local time, an individual fired multiple rounds at a Dallas, Texas ICE facility, killing one, wounding several others, before taking his own life. FBI, DHS, ATF are on the ground with Dallas PD and state authorities.

The FBI confirmed, “This morning just before 7am local time, an individual fired multiple rounds at a Dallas, Texas ICE facility, killing one, wounding several others, before taking his own life. FBI, DHS, ATF are on the ground with Dallas PD and state authorities. While the investigation is ongoing, an initial review of the evidence shows an idealogical motive behind this attack (see photo below). One of the unspent shell casings recovered was engraved with the phrase “ANTI ICE.” More updates will be forthcoming. These despicable, politically motivated attacks against law enforcement are not a one-off. We are only miles from Prarieland, Texas where just two months ago an individual ambushed a separate ICE facility targeting their officers. It has to end and the FBI and our partners will lead these investigative efforts to see to it that those who target our law enforcement are pursued and brought to the fullest extent of justice. Thankfully, no law enforcement personnel were injured. Please pray for the injured and deceased.”

Fox reported Jahn fired “indiscriminately” at the ICE facility and van parked adjacent.

Dallas police statements suggested that Jahn may have been living in Durant, Oklahoma, prior to his death.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said his state supports border security and deportation efforts and the shooting “will NOT slow our arrest, detention, & deportation of illegal immigrants. We will work with ICE & the Dallas Police Department to get to the bottom of the assassin’s motive.”

Noem chided those in leftist campaigns who demonize immigration authorities.

“Comparing ICE day in and day out to the Nazi Gestapo, the Secret Police, and slave patrols has consequences,” she added. “The men and women of ICE are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters. They get up every morning to try and make our communities safer. Like everyone else, they just want to go home to their families at night.”

Newsom’s state actually launched a campaign to ban ICE agents from wearing masks to conceal their identities – to prevent attacks on their families.

Federal authorities said since state officials have no authority over federal officers, Newsom’s campaign means little.

The profile photo is of an armed communist with the hammer and sickle. The text reads GLORIOUS EXPOSITION, COMRADE. He also has a previous conviction for selling Marijuana. Proof this was Leftist political violence against ICE officers.”:

The link between leftists advocating for actions against ICE and the shooting, however, was noted over and over.

Yesterday afternoon, Ilhan Omar called for ICE to be “abolished.”

Last night, Gavin Newsom called for people to “push back” against ICE agents.

Subtle change: India spins Trump proclamation as win for foreign H-1B techies

(Pixabay)

When the Trump White House issued its recent proclamation attaching a $100,000 fee to H-1B petitions, it was billed as a measure to protect American workers. Indeed, the proclamation itself spelled out its pro-American intent in plain terms.

But only days later, federal agencies issued clarifications that narrowed its reach, with the new fee applying only to fresh petitions, leaving existing H-1B holders untouched.

That subtle change, in turn, sparked a reaction overseas most wouldn’t expect.

India’s Economic Times trumpeted the headline “As White House issues clarification, door opens for laid-off H-1B techies,” celebrating the clarifications as a practical win for thousands of foreign workers recently caught up in U.S. tech layoffs.

The article noted that more than 145,000 workers have already been laid off this year by major U.S. tech firms, a wave of cuts they claim hit H-1B visa holders especially hard. For those workers, the clarification offers an easier path to latch onto a new employer, sparing them both the $100,000 fee and the risk of having to enter another visa lottery.

By casting the White House clarifications as a lifeline, they boasted that employers now had every reason to tap into this “ready pool of talent” at minimal cost – and free from any new restrictions.

Meanwhile, Americans who have seen their jobs shipped overseas or handed to contractors and visa holders view the situation very differently. The issue isn’t the proclamation’s stated intent, but the way its implementation preserves business as usual. The administration openly admitted that H-1B workers have displaced Americans, yet the carve-out exempts those very workers from the penalty meant to stop the abuse.

Instead of deterring corporations from gaming the system, the clarification shields the existing crop of H-1Bs, allowing them to maintain their foothold in the labor market while U.S. citizens remain sidelined.

Since the new rules punish only future entrants, the problem of massive foreign workers depressing Americans’ wages and hollowing out the nation’s middle class continues.

Triple-A confirms: Biden’s beloved EVs more costly to run than gas-powered cars

Gas-powered vehicles are cheaper than electric vehicles (EVs) when calculating total costs, according to a new American Automobile Association (AAA) analysis.

As electricity costs rise and gas prices fall, EVs top the market as the priciest kind of car in 2025, according to the AAA report. While former President Joe Biden pushed for EVs, blocked oil and gas leasing across the country and saw a huge spike in gasoline prices, the Trump administration has unlocked opportunities for oil and gas development and has seen drops in petrol costs.

“This new assessment by AAA creates one of the true ironies in our recent obsession with ‘clean’ energy. Dramatically raising the cost of energy to consumers has long been the central goal of the climate alarm lobby, in the belief that it would render their hugely costly ‘solutions’ more competitive in the marketplace,” David Blackmon, an energy and policy writer who spent 40 years in the oil and gas business, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “But now it is becoming increasingly obvious that, as the public figures out the real reasons why their costs have risen so rapidly, what the alarmists have really created is rising resentment towards themselves and making their favored alternative to gas-power car less competitive.”

The report also notes that the costs of operating a new vehicle have dropped by $719 since 2024, from $12,297 to $11,577, or $964.78 per month, according to AAA.

“While EVs remain more expensive in ‘ownership costs’ (depreciation, insurance, fees, and financing), they have lower ‘operating costs,’ particularly in fuel and maintenance. Last year, EV fuel costs were about one-third of gas vehicle costs,” the analysis states. “This year, however, gasoline prices have significantly decreased, while electricity prices have slightly increased. Although EVs still offer fuel savings — less than half of gas vehicle costs — this does not sufficiently offset their higher ownership costs. Consequently, EVs are now more expensive overall across all vehicle categories in this study.”

While the Biden administration loaded the technology with subsidies and supported California’s de facto national EV mandate, Congress and President Donald Trump have since blocked those polices. Notably, some EV tax credits are sunsetting on Sept. 30.

Electricity costs have been climbing as aging infrastructure strains the grid and several states shutter coal plants at an accelerated pace to meet green energy goals, tightening supply, while artificial intelligence data centers drive a demand spike. Meanwhile, gasoline prices have been dropping as supply expectations remain high and are projected to hit a 20-year low — excluding 2020 — according data from the Energy Information Administration.

Jonathan Turley: Google letter is ‘vindication’ for ‘banned and blacklisted’ scientists

S

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said on Wednesday that a letter from Google was “vindication” for many who were “banned and blacklisted” for allegedly spreading misinformation.

Google’s holding company, Alphabet, acknowledged in a Sept. 23 letter to the House Judiciary Committee that the company engaged in removing content and suspending accounts over viewpoints on COVID-19 and the 2020 election. Turley noted that the letter reveals just how extensive censorship was during the Biden administration.

WATCH:

“You had this coordination between the government, corporations, academia and the media to censor people with opposing views and it came at a great cost, not just to free speech, but in Covid, we never had the debate that other countries had,” Turley told “America’s Newsroom” co-host Bill Hemmer. “Many of our allies did not shut down their schools and they have not experienced the psychological and developmental problems that we have experienced and that’s because platforms like Google and YouTube and Facebook, these scientists were barred, they were banned and blacklisted.”

“Many of the signatories of the Great Barrington Declaration, who were scientists that raised opposing views, were at a speech of mine at the University of Chicago over a year ago and they have been vindicated in many respects on the stuff that they wanted to get out to the public but were prevented from doing so,” Turley continued.

The Great Barrington Declaration is a document authored by Drs. Martin Kulldorff, Sunetra Gupta and Jay Bhattacharya in October 2020, which called for a shift from the lockdowns to “focused protection” of those most vulnerable to the disease.

Facebook had previously announced it was ending its content moderation process in favor of a “community notes” approach. Turley said that Tesla CEO Elon Musk deserved credit for turning things around by purchasing Twitter, and observed a major censorship threat came from the European Union.
