Secret Service agent fell asleep on the job at U.N. General Assembly, left his rifle unattended

A Secret Service Agent fell asleep on the job at the United Nations General Assembly last week. The unidentified agent also left his semi-automatic rifle unattended while taking a bathroom break.

The agent was relieved of his duties.

Per RealClearPolitics reporter Susan Crabtree:

A SecretService Uniformed Division officer allegedly fell asleep on the job — in full public view — while providing security at the United Nations General Assembly last Thursday, multiple law enforcement sources told RCPolitics.

The same officer, an overweight African American man, also has been accused of leaving his semi-automatic rifle (what appears to be a SR16) unattended while taking a bathroom break from his security duties, according to these sources.

New York Police Department officers witnessed and took photos of what they considered the officer’s unprofessional behavior — what they described as sleeping on the job and leaving the rifle unattended — and reported it to their superiors at the multi-agency command center, which included representatives from the Secret Service, the NYPD, and other law enforcement agencies.

A Secret Service spokesperson told RCPolitics that the USSS Uniformed Division officer was relieved of his operational duties “immediately after leadership was notified” of the alleged unprofessional behavior, and the officer returned to Washington, D.C.

The Secret Service released a statement to RealClearPolitics:

“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of a Sept. 25 incident where a Uniformed Division officer working security near the United Nations General Assembly in New York City reportedly engaged in unprofessional behavior, including leaving a firearm unattended for a brief time in a secure zone before returning to the weapon. The officer was relieved of their operational duties immediately after leadership was notified that afternoon, returned to Washington, D.C. and subsequently placed on administrative leave pending a disciplinary review. The Secret Service has strict professional standards that all employees are expected to meet, and individuals who are found to have violated these standards will face disciplinary action.”

This is just one of the many security issues at the United Nations General Assembly last week.

A Trump Administration official in the Health and Human Services Department was stalked, recorded, verbally abused and physically assaulted at the United Nations last Thursday.

According to Fox News, the HHS official was followed into a bathroom, verbally abused and physically assaulted by a “deranged leftist.”

The unidentified “lunatic” was arrested. It is unclear how the suspect got through the several layers of security at the United Nations.

President Trump returned to the United Nations General Assembly stage in New York City for a major address to the General Assembly last Tuesday.

First Lady Melania and President Trump walked through the building and stepped on an escalator that was surrounded by people. There were two escalators going up to the next floor. Melania Trump stepped on the escalator on the left followed by President Trump. As soon as President Trump stepped on the escalator it came to a halt. However, the escalator on the right continued to operate.

Melania reacted quickly and started walking up the escalator stairs, followed by President Trump and his entourage.

This is insane…

As Trump arrived to the UN, the escalator stopped working the moment he stepped on it.

The White House last Tuesday afternoon demanded an investigation amid reports that UN staffers intentionally stopped the escalator as President Trump and First Lady Melania were stepping on in a major security breach.

“If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator as the President and First Lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, along with a report that UN staffers may turn off the escalators to make Trump walk up the stairs.

President Trump last Wednesday evening called for the UN staffers who intentionally stopped the escalators at the United Nations this week to be jailed.

Trump also demanded an investigation into three “very sinister events” that took place at the United Nations.

‘Stop it’: Maxine Waters goes after reporter asking about health care for illegals, Trump chimes in

Maxine Waters, D-Calif., tells homeless people seeking housing vouchers to “go home” at an event in South Los Angeles on March 25, 2022. (Video screenshot)

Rep. Maxine Waters, the California Democrat known for going over the edge with her comments just about every time she speaks, even to the point of advocating hate against her political critics, has gone there again.

This time she’s gone after a reporter, insisting, “You don’t have to ask that question.”

The question was about her party’s government shutdown, and whether her demands for taxpayer funded health care for illegal aliens was that important.

And that came immediately after she confirmed that is exactly her party’s top line.

President Donald Trump reacted:

“Maxine Waters admitted that she is demanding Healthcare for Illegal Aliens, and it’s going to be Top of the Line, taking American Taxpayers’ Healthcare away from them!”

Here are her comments:

WATCH: Maxine Waters Snaps When Asked About Healthcare for Illegal Aliens

When confronted outside the Capitol, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was asked if Democrats are willing to shut down the U.S. government to prioritize healthcare for illegal immigrants.

A report at Yahoo News explained that she snapped at the question.

“Quit it. Stop it,” she said, interrupting the reporter. “This is the kind of journalism we don’t need.”

The comments from Waters came as she was approached by LindellTV reporter Alison Steinberg outside the Capitol.

“Do Democrats want to prioritize the healthcare of illegal aliens over a government shutdown because if the government does shut down, Americans workers are going to be furloughed,” Steinberg began.

“Excuse me. Stop it right there,” Waterr charged. “We’re not prioritizing. What we’re saying simply is that we want to keep the government open and we want to work with the Republicans and have a bipartisan agreement to keep this government open, and healthcare is at the top of our agenda.”

The reporter continued, “But are Democrats demanding healthcare for illegal aliens?”

Waters: “Democrats are demanding healthcare for everybody. We want to save lives. We want to make sure that healthcare is available to those who would die [without] having, having the help of their government.”

Steinberg pressed: “So you’re good with the government shutdown even if it means giving healthcare to people who aren’t Americans.”

“That’s what you’re pushing on. What you’re trying to do is you’re standing here and you’re trying to make me say that somehow we are going to put non-citizens over Americans. Quit it! Stop it!” Waters demanded.

The government shutdown actually developed when Democrats demanded some $1.5 trillion in lavish spending in a funding bill lasting only a few weeks. It would hand out cash for healthcare for illegals, fund propaganda machines, and more.

GIven GOP reluctance to go along, Democrats then refused to support a resolution that would have kept the government open.

‘They have made me an enemy’: Liberal celebrity lawyer pledges support for Republicans in midterms

A longtime liberal lawyer who has support Democrats for, well, decades, now is pledging his support for Republicans during the 2026 midterm elections.

It was Alan Dershowitz, whose fame in legal circles is unparalleled.

Defendants to whom he contributed advice at different times include O.J. Simpson, Jeffrey Epstein, Julian Assange, Harvey Weinstein, and even Donald Trump.

His new announcement has just made social media.

“I’m going to be supporting the Republicans in the midterm elections,” he said.

!function(r,u,m,b,l,e){r._Rumble=b,r[b]||(r[b]=function(){(r[b]._=r[b]._||[]).push(arguments);if(r[b]._.length==1){l=u.createElement(m),e=u.getElementsByTagName(m)[0],l.async=1,l.src="https://rumble.com/embedJS/u4"+(..., document, "script", "Rumble");

He continued, “I’m hoping the Republicans maintain control … both of the House and the Senate. The last thing I want is Chuck Schumer to be head of the Senate or Liz Warren to be chairperson of a committee or AOC to be chairperson of a committee.”

He explained, “The Democrats not only have lost my votes, but they have made me an enemy.”

He blamed the party for having essentially “moved away from American values, Israeli values and values of decency.”

‘Close loopholes’: Trump to expand Mexico City Policy to ensure taxpayers don’t fund foreign abortions

(Facebook)

(Pixabay)

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—President Donald Trump’s State Department will soon expand the scope of the Mexico City Policy, which prohibits the use of taxpayer dollars for abortions.

“The Department will soon take additional steps to close loopholes that allowed taxpayer funding for promotion of abortion in previous iterations of the Mexico City Policy and expand the scope of the policy to ensure every penny of U.S. foreign assistance prioritizes American values, not the woke agenda,” a senior State Department official told The Daily Signal.

The new provision restricts a broader range of non-governmental organization programming, such as those for HIV/AIDS, President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), maternal and child health, nutrition, and infectious diseases like malaria and tuberculosis.

“The State Department continues to advance President Trump’s American First foreign policy,” the official said.

The expanded policy will also prohibit U.S. funding for gender ideology, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. For example, the State Department is ending a $2 million grant to fund gender-affirming operations in Guatemala.

This scope of the policy will apply across all non-military foreign assistance.

This means that all entities, including foreign and domestic NGOs, international organizations, and foreign governments and parastatals that receive U.S. foreign assistance can not perform or promote abortion as a method of family planning, promote gender ideology, promote discriminatory equity ideology, or engage in any unlawful diversity, equity, and inclusion related discrimination.

On Jan. 24, Trump restored the Mexico City Policy. The first Trump administration significantly expanded the scope of the Mexico City Policy to apply to all global health assistance.

First established by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, the Mexico City Policy ensures “that no U.S. taxpayer money supports foreign organizations that perform or actively promote abortion in other nations.”

Since its establishment, the policy has been rescinded by each subsequent Democrat president and reinstated by the next Republican chief executive. Democrat President Joe Biden rescinded the policy his first week in office in January 2021.

Consequences! Federal shutdown hits $18 billion in projects in Schumer’s state

The Brooklyn Bridge in New York City (Pixabay)The Brooklyn Bridge in New York City (Pixabay)The Brooklyn Bridge in New York City

The federal government went into a partial shutdown mode on Wednesday after Democrats demanded an extraordinary $1.5 trillion in spending for a wide range of their constituencies, including Obamacare subsidies, illegal aliens and leftist propaganda.

And one of the first consequences was an $18 billion hit to the state represented by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., who led the battle for the shutdown.

The New York City projects affected by the White House punching the pause button also hit in the district represented by Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., another advocate for the massive spending agenda.

A report at the Daily Mail noted that those who are “leading the obstruction against Trump’s agenda.”

The “hardball” announcement came from Russell Vought, director of the Office of Management and Budget, who said the projects were blocked immediately to prevent funds “flowing based on unconstitutional DEI principles.”

President Trump, meanwhile, has discussed his opportunity for a renewal of the cuts made to the federal workforce early in his term by the Department of Government Efficiency.

Tens of thousands of jobs were eliminated as unnecessary.

Vought was scheduled to meet with House Republicans about those plans.

He is responsible for about 3 million workers, and his agency decides which government jobs are essential, and continue to get funding during a shutdown, and which do not.

The publication reported, “Vought previously warned agencies to get ready for a ‘reduction in force notices for all employees,’ specifically highlighting departments and programs that he referred to as ‘not consistent with the president’s priorities.'”

The OMB memo just days ago said agencies needed to have a list of layoff options for workers “whose salaries aren’t paid using the Big Beautiful Bill, obligatory funds. This also included ‘programs and projects’ that are not consistent with ‘the president’s priorities.'”

Trump repeatedly has spoken of options that the administration has during a shutdown that can create impacts that are “irreversible.”

Trump said, “A lot of good can come down from shutdowns. We can get rid of a lot of things that we didn’t want.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson, whose body approved a resolution extending government spending only to see it defeated by Democrats in the Senate, said the shutdown will last until Democrats decide to end it.

Leftist labor unions already are threatening to sue over any job reductions.

‘I’m not wealthy’: Dem senator refuses to forgo pay during shutdown, as his own staff goes unpaid

Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz.

Democrats drove the federal government into a shutdown at 12:01 am Wednesday after blocking a GOP spending bill, but at least one Democratic lawmaker says he won’t be giving up his paycheck.

Roughly 750,000 employees will be furloughed during the shutdown, according to the Congressional Budget Office. But Democrat Sen. Ruben Gallego of Arizona told NBC News that he won’t forgo his $174,000 congressional salary, which lawmakers continue to collect during shutdowns under Article I, Section 6 of the Constitution.

“I’m not wealthy and I have three kids. I would basically be missing, you know, mortgage payments, rent payments, child support,” Gallego told NBC News. “So it’s not feasible, not gonna happen.”

Congressional staffers during the funding lapse, though they will receive back pay once the government reopens.

We will be voting shortly on the latest spending deal but before we do, I have submitted an official request asking for my paycheck to be withheld in the event of a government shutdown. If the troops don’t get paid, Members of Congress shouldn’t either. pic.twitter.com/9B2rbAGEVW

— Kat Cammack (@Kat_Cammack) December 20, 2024

Gallego’s office did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

The Arizona senator’s stance stands in contrast to a growing list of lawmakers asking that their pay be withheld in solidarity with furloughed workers. Republicans, including Reps. Kat Cammack of Florida, Chip Roy and Keith Self of Texas have all formally requested that their paychecks be withheld until the government reopens.

“All members of Congress — including those most responsible for this shutdown (Senate Democrats) — should do the same,” Self wrote on X.

Some Democrats, including Sen. Andy Kim of New Jersey, have joined in.

“It’s wrong that the President and Members of Congress get paid during a government shutdown when our military and public servants don’t,” Kim said in a statement Tuesday. “I will be refusing my own pay if we end up in a shutdown. Government leaders shouldn’t be playing with other people’s chips.”

Presidents also continue to receive their paycheck during funding lapses, but President Donald Trump has said he will donate his government salary during the shutdown, according to NBC News.

Democrats are refusing to approve government spending unless an extension of a pandemic-era Obamacare premium subsidy — projected to cost $350 billion over the next decade — is included in the bill. On Wednesday, Senate Democrats again blocked bills to fund the government,

Meanwhile, 65% of Americans said Democrats should not shut down the government even if “their demands are not met,” according to a New York Times/Siena University poll released Tuesday.

‘Winning wars is No. 1’: Military recruitment numbers confirm failed leadership during Biden years

Staff Sgt. Robert George, a military training instructor at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, marches his recruits following the issuance of uniforms and gear during basic training.Staff Sgt. Cecilio Ricardo / Air Force)Staff Sgt. Robert George, a military training instructor at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, marches his recruits following the issuance of uniforms and gear during basic training. (Master Sgt. Cecilio Ricardo / Air Force)

Under Joe Biden, the U.S. military was facing a recruitment crisis.

His pro-LGBT ideology included schemes to use artificial diversity, equity and inclusion quotas for military duties, putting women sometimes in jobs they could not physically accomplish, dragged the Army, and more, down.

It’s back up, under President Donald Trump.

He’s dispensed with the DEI politics, put transgenders on notice, and through his War Secretary, Pete Hegseth, has confirmed that members of the military will be required to have the physical ability and strength to do the jobs they are required to do. That’s to include, sometimes, fighting a war.

A new report at the Federalist described the situation as this: “America’s propaganda press have wound up with egg on their faces a few many times over the past several years. And that could not be truer than when it comes to the military recruitment crisis that helped define Joe Biden’s failed presidency.”

That’s as part of that “propaganda press,” the Associated Press, admitted that the U.S. Marine Corps had reached its recruiting targets for 2025 fiscal year.

“The achievement follows in the footsteps of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, all of which hit their FY2025 goals months ahead of schedule,” the report said.

“Naturally, the AP’s Konstantin Toropin seemingly did everything he could to downplay the Trump administration’s turnaround of the Biden-era recruiting crisis, pinning blame for the disaster on ‘complications from the COVID-19 pandemic, tight job markets and a growing generation of young Americans struggling to meet fitness and academic standards.’ While noting how ‘the uptick [in recruitment] began well before President Donald Trump won office again in November,’ he also ‘conveniently’ omitted the fact that several of the branches axed traditional standards recruits were expected to meet to qualify for service under Biden,” the Federalist explained.

It said the excuses are coming for the “befuddled ex-president” because without them, outlets would have to admit U.S. leadership “does, in fact, matter to those seeking to serve their nation in uniform.”

The Federalist explained that Biden’s message to patriotic Americans was clear from the start, “You’re not welcome here.”

His years of giving up on lethality and efficiency in exchange for diversity and inclusion resulted in “America’s real adversaries” expanding their geopolitical footprints virtually unchallenged, the report said.

Trump and Hegseth just this week, the report noted, made it clear that “failed leftist dogma” is out at the military, and “winning wars” is “No. 1.”

“No more identity months, DEI offices, dudes in dresses. No more climate change worship. No more division, distraction, or gender delusions. No more debris. As I’ve said before and will say again, we are done with that s—,” Hegseth charged.

“As hard as leftists may find it to believe, young men don’t want to join a military whose commander-in-chief pushes racist DEI ideology, fires them for not taking an experimental shot, and keeps checking his watch as the bodies of their brothers and sisters in arms arrive home in flag-draped coffins — a tragedy which Biden himself is responsible for. They want leaders who love America as much as they do and will stand with them when their backs are against the wall,” the report said.

Under Biden, the Army fell 15,000 short of its enlistment goal in 2022, and the next year, it brought in 50,000 recruits, well below its goal of 65,000. That year, the Navy and the Air Force also missed recruitment targets.

‘Grave scandal’: Pro-abortion Dem declines Catholic award after backlash from pro-lifers

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill. (Video screenshot)

S

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill. (Video screenshot)U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.

Amid mounting pushback, Sen. Dick Durbin, a pro-abortion Democrat from Illinois, declined a lifetime achievement award on Tuesday he was scheduled to receive from the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Chicago Cardinal Blase Cupich, head of the Archdiocese of Chicago, had planned to present Durbin with the honor at the “Keep Hope Alive” Benefit on Nov. 3. The announcement drew widespread criticism due to Durbin’s history of abortion advocacy despite identifying as Catholic.

“Senator Durbin today informed me that he has decided not to receive an award at our Keep Hope Alive celebration,” Cupich wrote in a Sept. 30 announcement of the senator’s decision.

“While I am saddened by this news, I respect his decision. But I want to make clear that the decision to present him an award was specifically in recognition of his singular contribution to immigration reform and his unwavering support of immigrants, which is so needed in our day,” Cupich added.

The Illinois Democrat, who plans to retire at the end of his term in 2026, voted against the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, which prohibited late-term abortion procedures, and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would have mandated care for babies who survive failed abortions.

The decision to award Durbin the lifetime achievement award faced strong pushback from several American bishops, including Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield, Durbin’s home diocese.

“Given Senator Durbin’s long and consistent record of supporting legal abortion — including opposing legislation to protect children who survive failed abortions — this decision risks causing grave scandal, confusing the faithful about the Church’s unequivocal teaching on the sanctity of human life,” Paprocki said in a statement to The Pillar on Sept. 19.

“Honoring a public figure who has actively worked to expand and entrench the right to end innocent human life in the womb undermines the very concept of human dignity and solidarity that the award purports to uphold,” the bishop said.

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco, who barred self-professed Catholic Democrat Rep. Nancy Pelosi from receiving communion in 2022 due to her stance on abortion, similarly urged Cupich to reconsider his decision.

“It’s an absurd notion to even think of giving a Catholic honor to Dick Durbin, who spent his career in Washington promoting the most extreme abortion agenda possible,” Steve Cortes, senior political advisor to CatholicVote, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Dick Durbin doesn’t just insist that abortion is legal, he wants it celebrated, shouted from the rooftops, and paid for by taxpayers, to boot.”

“When Durbin wasn’t pushing abortion in the Senate, he was busy opposing traditional marriage and creating an open borders crisis that led to a massive wave of totally preventable child trafficking. Dick Durbin is the kind of politician who should be disciplined by Church leaders, not honored,” Cortes added. Meanwhile, Cupich used his statement to defend at length his decision to honor the pro-abortion senator.

“Some would say that the Church should never honor a political leader if he pursues policies diametrically opposed to critical elements of Catholic social teaching. But the tragic reality in our nation today is that there are essentially no Catholic public officials who consistently pursue the essential elements of Catholic social teaching because our party system will not permit them to do so,” Cupich said.

“Total condemnation is not the way forward, for it shuts down discussion. But praise and encouragement can open it up, by asking their recipients to consider how to extend their good work to other areas and issues,” he added.

On Tuesday, Pope Leo XIV appeared to defend Cupich’s plan to give Durbin the award

“I think it’s important to look at the overall work that a senator has done during, if I’m not mistaken, in 40 years of service in the United States Senate,” the pope told reporters, according to the Catholic News Agency.

“I understand the difficulty and the tensions. But I think as I myself have spoken in the past, it’s important to look at many issues that are related to the teachings of the church,” the pope added. “Someone who says, ‘I’m against abortion,’ but is in favor of the death penalty is not really pro-life. Someone who says, ‘I’m against abortion but I’m in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States,’ I don’t know if that’s pro-life.”

Durbin’s office did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

‘This doesn’t look like free speech’: Officials to investigate university for blocking Turning Point event

Charlie Kirk (video screenshot)Charlie Kirk (Video screenshot)Charlie Kirk

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Chip Roy said Wednesday they plan to investigate a university’s decision to block a Turning Point USA event.

Their comments came in response to reports that Texas Christian University denied the student chapter’s request to host an on-campus event featuring detransitioner Chloe Cole.

“This doesn’t look like free speech to me,” Paxton wrote on X Wednesday morning. “I’m going to look into this.”

This doesn’t look like free speech to me. I’m going to look into this. @TCU https://t.co/7OutbFDEHi

— Chip Roy (@chiproytx) October 1, 2025

Cole, who detransitioned at 16 and now speaks out against “gender-affirming care” for minors, said on X Tuesday that the university had been making its Turning Point chapter jump through “arbitrary hoops” for a “while” before ultimately denying its request for an available room.

She described the university as “cancelling” her, writing on X Tuesday, “Christian colleges (and otherwise) need to step up to keep democracy and free speech alive in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.”

The event, scheduled for Oct. 7, will now be held at Birchman Baptist Church. “The show goes on, but not on campus,” Cole wrote.
