M. Austin was born and raised in the United Kingdom and has always had a bizarre imagination. She wrote her first (unpublished) book aged 11, about three Hispanic-English sisters who save an magical underground kingdom with the help of unreliable talking animal sidekicks.

She has progressed since then to flying turtles, hat-wearing rabbits and maddened estate agents/realtors. These, and many other strange things, can be found in her debut novel, Blue Ink
