Nominate your Favorite Author
Have you nominated your favorite Christian romance author(s) in the Family Fiction poll? If not, you should do so. Naturally, I’d be honored if I was among them. But even if not, take the time to cast your vote.

A Big 4-0
In March 1981 (I don’t know the exact date), I sat down with a yellow legal pad and began writing my first novel. I wrote longhand in evenings and on weekends, and I used the office typewriter during coffee breaks and lunch hours to type the manuscript. I didn’t know much after writing a novel, but I had a great time doing it all the same.
I finished the manuscript in November 1981 and, soon after, mailed out query letters and sample chapters to publishers I found in The Writer’s Market. Most...

Ten Things About Me (and a great deal)
A couple of weeks ago, a friend shared her answers to a questionnaire in a blog post. On the day she posted her answers, she said it was because she was at a loss what to blog about. Guess what? Me, too. So here are my answers to the same ten questions.
Me in my role of Mom/Grandma/Grandy (sadly not my entire family in this photo)Who are you? I’m a Christ-follower, the mother of two daughters, grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of three. I’m a novelist, with 90 books published ...

My Writing Life
My life has been a little stressful lately, mostly related to my writing life, although not entirely.
Last week, I received the final cover The Beginning of Wisdom: Bilqis’s Story. This novel from Guidepost is the 90th release of my career (I believe it ships to subscribers in December, but I’m not sure when it will be listed on the website for sale). I loved writing this novel about the queen of Sheba and the faith in the one true God that she took back with her to Sheba after spending time ...

May there be peace
I thought I would take a moment to share on this blog that I had not departed the US for Israel when the terrorists attacked last Saturday. Because I had commented in blog posts and in my newsletter about my planned visit to Israel in October, many have contacted me through emails, Facebook, Instagram, and X to check on me. I’m very touched by the concern and the prayers of others. Thank you.
My heart is broken over what has happened already and broken for all that may happen yet. And so I pr...

Survey for Book Buyers
Dear Book Lovers, I would dearly love your answers (and I suspect I may not be the only author who is interested in your feedback).
One of the hot topics of late is that more and more writers are selling their ebooks (and/or paperbacks and/or audiobooks) directly to readers via stores on their websites. Sometimes readers are able to buy the books a week or two before the books launch on Amazon or B&N, etc. This gives them an early peek at their favorite authors’ books. Most often, the ebo...

Family Shenanigans
For those who don’t know me well, I am the mother of two daughters, the grandmother of six (two of whom are married), and an exceedingly young
great-grandmother. One of my daughters, Jenn, and her family moved to Texas twelve years ago. The other, Micki, lives in Boise. It’s her daughter and son who are married and have kids of their own, and lucky for us, both live within an hour’s drive in opposite directions.
In July, Micki informed me she wanted to get a portrait made of her family. W...

The Books of Summer
My week has been spent primarily on the phone
with support people at QuickBooks after making the decision to move my corporate accounting to a different version. Nothing ever goes exactly as it should. Right? And support calls don’t make for scintillating blog posts.
Mostly I’ve got my nose to the grindstone, trying to finish another book. However, that’s not very exciting to read about either. “Sat in chair and wrote
for hours and hours. P.S. Ate too much chocolate
.”

So easily entangled
On Monday, I drove home from the 20th Annual Plot, Play, and Pray retreat in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. As always, I am filled up with joy from my time with these wonderful sisters in Christ. They mean more to me than I can say, and they continue to strengthen and inform my faith.
Even the trees in Brandilyn’s forest have faces! One of the first things I noticed upon my return was that my large patio plant looked very beleaguered. It received water, but it looked very brown and sparse because n...
