Up, Up, and Away to the ACFW National Conference

By the time most people read this post, there is a good chance that I will be in an airplane on my way to St. Louis or I will have already arrived there. It is time for the annual American Christian Fiction Writers’ national conference. I haven’t been to an ACFW conference in a number of years and am delighted to get to go again.
This year, I am being presentedwith ACFW’s highest award, the Lifetime Achievement Award. To say I am honored and humbled is an under...

Love Without End: “… a feel-good novel well worth reading”
Forrest Gump’s mama said, “Lifeis like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.”
And I think the same thing could be said for book reviews. An author never knows what she’s going to get. They can be a mixed bag.
Which is why I was so delighted when the publicity gal at HarperCollins Christian Publishers forwarded a copy ofPublishers Weekly’s reviewofLove Without End.
I loved the synopsis because it was clear the reviewer got to know and understand the characters. But my favo...

Techie Tizzy
Regular readers know I’m a bit of a techie. Right? Turns out, this is a really big week for people like me.
Yesterday, Apple released their new version of the operating system that runs iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches. Yes, I upgraded to iOS 8 at once. Yes, I like the new features I’m discovering. And there seems to be lots to discover.
Also yesterday,Amazon, without a whole lot of fanfare (or else I totally missed it), released several new Kindles: the Kindle Voyage (a new generation of the P...

Just Write Already
I started off September by getting into a very disciplined routine of exercise and hitting my word quota for the day. I’ve also given up wheat. I’m not allergic to gluten, but I do believe there are goodreasons to get rid of as much genetically-altered wheat from my diet as possible. I’m also trying to be better about getting up, stretching, and moving for ten minutes out of every hour.

Thirteen Years
This morning I went to get myself a cup of coffee before heading into my office. I glanced at the television which was tuned to the Fox News Channel. Only then did I realize the date on the calendar. September 11th.
Today marks 13 years since that horrible attack upon Americans. Thirteen years. It doesn’t feel that long ago.
I remember clearly all of the emotions that I felt then. And when I look at what is happening in the world today, I wonder if we’ve made any headway at all inmaking this wo...
