Today in falsely victimized scions: Reagan son says 'time to fight back' against LGBT rights

The Reagan Revolution is highly responsible for giving rise (or at least credence) to the religious right, the "culture war," and so much of what we have come to know about socially conservative politicking. For LGBT people, this meant everything from negligence on HIV/AIDS policy in the days when so much could have been done to the wave of marriage amendments that turned same-sex couples' civil rights into scapegoat-shaped punching bags. While LGBT people struggled to gain the most basic deg...

Audio: Tony Perkins suggests gays try suicide because 'they can't fill that God vacuum,' are 'in rebellion to God's design'

The man who still appears on mainstream television programs with alarming frequency continues to prove why he is more than just a buttoned up, conservative, marriage-focused pundit:

[SOURCE: Washington Watch w/ Tony Perkins; 4/1/13]

By the way, that whole thing Tony did about listeners on the left "foaming at the mouth"? That's something he does almost every day on his show now. That's because he knows he says politically counterproductive things and that people like me are going to shine a lig...

Video: AFA Radio caller says gays are 'filthy, rotten slime'; it's 'time to get mean'

The caller, Fred from Mississippi, claims what gay people do is worse than bestiality or "those other molesters," says we are "filthy, rotten slime," and that's it's "time to get mean" against us. But does host Bryan Fischer repudiate his fan? Oh no. He, the American Family Association's most prominent voice of late, laughs, thanks the caller for his thoughts, and then proceeds to separate our "choices" from our beings—and attack us himself:

(*Clip should be cued to right place. If not, start...

Sen. Casey (D-PA) comes out for marriage equality

Screen Shot 2013-04-01 At 3.54.45 PmThe right side of history gains another one:

Casey: I support gay marriage [Morning Call]

That leaves only eight Senate Democrats [Mark Pryor (AR), Bill Nelson (FL), Tom Carper (DE), Tim Johnson (SD), Joe Manchin (WV), Mary Landrieu (LA), Heidi Heitkamp (ND) and Joe Donnelly (IN)] who've yet to fully come out for the right and fair thing. So now the race is on: Who will be next? Or, perhaps more importantly: Who will be last?

SBC prez links equality to 'mad man in Asia'; not referring to Don Draper's overseas conterpart

Keeping it as fair, rational, and measured as we've come to expect from the Southern Baptist Convention:

Screen Shot 2013-04-01 At 2.36.49 Pm"I would not be surprised that at the time when we are debating same-sex marriage, at a time when we are debating whether or not we should have gays leading the Boy Scout movement, I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that we have a mad man in Asia who is saying some of the things that he’s saying."

Southern Baptist Convention president Fred Luter

Later in this same conversation, Luter conn...

Video: '[Nothing's] Wrong with Homosexuality' by John Corvino

I'm a major fan of Professor John Corvino, on both a personal and professional level. Everyone should check out his fantastic contribution to the LGBT canon, titled What's Wrong With Homosexuality? But first, for some teaser of John's style (think: Scholar with a great sense of humor), check out his new 11-part video series, which ties in to the themes of his book:

*FULL DISCLOSURE: John just left a glowing review of my own book. But I can...

NOM 'March for Marriage' cosponsor: Gay marriage 'takes precious gift and drags it down in the mud and degrades it'

TFP, by far the most incendiary of any of the National Organization For Marriage's "March For Marriage" cosponsors (see here and here), has created its one video from the recent event. Watch on as day-of marchers call us unnatural, equate our marriages with any number of things they find unsavory (complete with NAMBLA reference), and turn this whole conversation about civil marriage into one that revolves around their personally-held theology:

"The liberal media won't show it"? Well I can't sp...

Video: Focus on the Family's dominoes are 100% hetero; no word on their marbles, jacks, pick-up sticks

Considering the rapid crumbling of cherished "traditional marriage" arguments, I can think of a more apt domino metaphor. However, I will leave the kids' games to the children.

Video: Little kid spends Easter yelling at pro-gay church

You probably heard about Winston-Salem, North Carolina's Green Street United Methodist and its decision to stop performing marriage ceremonies until same-sex couples have the right to marry. This is what that church now faces:

Love the faceless dude playing Cyrano to this young kid's condemnations. What courageous parenting [::eye roll::].

But good on the congregants for showing the perfect response. Sidewalk preaching is where reasonable conversation goes to die. Not worth the attempt.
