That discriminatory Oregon bakery: We've denied gay people on more than one occasion

I've already shown you how the owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, Aaron and Melissa Klein, have admitted that it's homosexuality itself that they oppose and not just same-sex marriage. Now the Kleins have also admitted that the one incident that got them in hot water with the state was not, in fact, the first act of discrimination against a gay customer:

It's not about whether or not it's "silly." And it's not fine. It is against the fairly enacted laws of the state of O...

AFA's reliably vile anti-gay rhetoric: Now with more heroin vials!

Apparently this morning, when I kissed my husband of eleven years and told him to have a nice day, I had an equally valid option. Namely, heroin.

The American Family Association's Bryan Fischer "explains":

"It's very clear that homosexual conduct is as risky to human health as intravenous drug use," Fischer tells OneNewsNow. "I don't think there's any way in the world that the Hattiesburg City Council is going to draft an ordinance that promotes intravenous drug use. Why? Because it's risky to...

Desperate pro-discrimination group NOM resorts to pointed, personal gay-shaming

NOM is an anti-gay group. It always has been an anti-gay group, NOM messengers just used to be better about hiding it behind a "protect marriage" veneer.

Those days are long gone. Check out this new horror story that reads like something from Anita Bryant's '70s era imagination:

It's a beautiful summer day in southern California. Throngs of people line streets as paraders march by. They include transvestite brides (men in wedding gowns) who strut their stuff. Nearby a float with bare-chested, h...

And another one: Oregon AG won't run cover for history's wrong, unconstitutional side

A fifth attorney general is taking a principled stand:

Oregon’s attorney general said she won’t defend her state’s ban on same-sex marriage, joining other top state law enforcement officials in refusing to fight challenges to similar prohibitions.

NOM's 2nd pro-discrimination march to coincide with Civil Rights Act's 50th anniv.

Screen Shot 2014-02-20 At 9.44.56 AmI've been racking my brain to come up with a reason why pro-discrimination special interest group the National Organization For Marriage chose seemingly arbitrary date of June 19, 2014 for its second "March for Marriage." This morning I realized it: June 19, 1964 was the day that the US Senate approved the Civil Rights Act on 1964, which of course barred discrimination based on race, religion, color, and national origin in public accommodations. I would bet you a million bucks that NOM is goi...

NOM lobbies for Kansas right-to-flout-nondiscrimination-ordinance law

While a bold statement coming from someone who has as closely monitored the opposition movement as I have, I will say that I don't think I've ever seen the anti-LGBT side so fully misrepresent an idea as they are these new baker/florist/photog laws that are popping up around the country. From pretending that the discriminator is the "victim" rather than the person who was cruelly and embarrassingly denied service to suggesting that vendors who sell items for a wedding reception are somehow pa...

Audio: Tony Perkins' childlike innocence on inevitability; it's like he really didn't know he was destined to lose this fight—weird.

Why didn't the media tell Americans that discrimination was inevitable? That's what FRC president Tony Perkins wants to know about the time when his team's parties were more victory and less pity:

Yes, many states made the terrible, unfortunate, backwards, history-mucking, constitutionally unsound choice to mar their constitutions with expressed discrimination against same-sex couples seeking the freedom to marry. That was wrong, and those of us who understand freedom said so at the time.

What...

Audio: His own caller schools Tony Perkins on nondiscrimination law, gays, life

When Tony Perkins opened up his phone lines and asked his callers to weigh in on these we-want-to-flout-nondiscrimination-laws-as-they-apply-to-LGBT-people notions (and proposed laws) that are in the news in a big way, he surely expected the usual chorus of supporters that he typically gets. But what he got instead is a calm, rational, informed speaker who, despite saying he believes in much of what Tony says, very much understands why denying business/public accommodations to people on the b...
