Patricia Heaton didn't know about 'this homophobic guy' Bryan Fischer

After some of us questioned why a generally LGBT supportive (even if conservative) celebrity like Patricia Heaton would choose to give and interview to the most vehemently anti-LGBT talk show host in the country, the star of The Middle tweeted the following:

As I said in my initial post on the subject, I always assumed that she didn't personally make the booking. But someone on her team did—and that person should know better. Bryan Fischer is an easily Google-able personality. A press agent or...

California's anti-trans coalition fails to make school harder, less safe for trans students

I teased it earlier, and now it's official: The so-called "Privacy For All Students" coalition didn't get their nasty repeal effort on the ballot:

Transgender Rights Repeal Misses California Ballot [AP via ABC News]

Attempts to make already-vulnerable students even more vulnerable are always particularly disturbing. Their loss is that more satisfying.

Also another National Org. For Marriage loss. To remind you, NOM's political director, Frank Schubert, is the master mind behind this effort, and...

Video: 'The Middle' star Patricia Heaton appears on America's most anti-gay talk show

In an earlier segment of this same program, Bryan Fischer, one of the most hostile voices in all of the radio kingdom, dedicated his time toward denying that Matthew Shepard's murder was a hate crime and telling gay people that "we love you too much not to warn you" about homosexuality. Then he hosted this segment with a major TV star:

Truly terrible move, Ms. Heaton. There is no way to go on this show in a politically neutral way. Not when we're talking about a gay who openly advocates for ga...

'Many homosexuals oppose gay marriage' (*We just keep using the same one because we really like him)

The National Organization For Marriage and its allies continue to pretend that one guy, Tea Party conservative Doug Mainwaring, is some sort of representative of "many homosexuals" :

One example is the operative word here. NOM and its allies have never been able to find more than two or three, with Mainwaring by far the most prominent.

Of all the tracks they have tried, "gays against gay marriage" might be the most politically inept, fully go-nowhere, and downright desperate of all.

Oh, and frig...

Both of Arizona's GOP U.S. Senators call on Gov Brewer to veto 'gay Jim Crow law'

Republican Gov. Jan Brewer says she will decide this week whether to sign or veto her state's recently-passed law that essentially allows public accommodations to discriminate against LGBT people whenever they are feeling too religious to perform the duties of their jobs. For their part, both of Arizona's two GOP U.S. Senators are advising a veto:

It's hard for me to be cynical about this. This is a good move from both senators.

Scott Lively: Homosexuality should still be classified as mental illness

Here in a week when Uganda's president signed into a law one of the most shockingly anti-LGBT laws in recent memory, the American who helped craft that state of affairs in Uganda, Scott Lively, is now coming out against the American psychological community for classifying LGBT people as being something other than mentally ill:

"In 1973, after an intensive campaign of pressure and harassment by LGBT activists, the board of the American Psychological Association voted to remove homosexuality as...

Banning advocate denies he wants to ban the marriages he does, in fact, hope to ban

The social conservatives decided long enough to never address their marriage discrimination in the form of "bans." They know this honest language is bad for them, which is why the National Organization For Marriage used to run directives telling its supporters to stay away from "ban" language at all costs.

But as time goes by and more state bans fall away, the idea that there are no such bans in place sounds even more ludicrous. Yet that truth doesn't stop them from pushing the silly notion:

"T...

NOM alters Pinterest logo for own promo; Pinterest not happy

This was sent to me from a Facebook group, where an enterprising member took the initiative to call out yet another one of NOM's bad practices:

Another Pin bursting NOM's bubble. I'm watching this organization's ill fate like it's a sitcom.
