AFA's Fischer equates fighting slavery with fighting marriage equality, humorously thinks he's the GOP's future

The American Family Association's senior issues analyst (and, conveniently enough, its most anti-gay voice) bemoans the trajectory of his party while simultaneously showing why it needs to get away—and get away fast!!—from the hostile social conservatism that has so thoroughly damaged its brand:

I love their threats. Bryan and his cohorts don't realize that the GOP is slowly moving away from anti-LGBT social conservatism not because it failed to listen to what the religious right had...

NOM's silly little pro-discrimination march gets its first member of Congress

Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS1), who has put anti-LGBT policy front and center of his agenda during his three years in the U.S. House, has signed up to speak at the National Organization For Marriage's upcoming "March for Marriage [Discrimination]":

Because I'm sure that's exactly what his constituents back home are begging for him to do: show up on a random Thursday in June and speak on behalf of an organization with a nonstop losing streak at a purposeless event with...

None of this 'protect marriage' idealism excludes same-sex couples

The North Dakota Family Alliance, likely spooked by the news that a court case might challenge their state's marriage ban and remove the distinction of being the only state in the union without equality or a judicial test, wrote the following in support of their exclusionary view of marriage:

Today, it seems many in society are focusing only on the temporary, their feelings, their wants, failing to take into account the longer term and their role in society. The couple putting all of their ene...

Is it warn-parkgoers-about-the-gays time already? Time flies when you're being denigrated.

Ah, summer. People start showing a little knee. White pants made wardrobe appearances. Sand and surf replace snow and ice. It's a time for cookouts, parades, and all kinds of outdoor shenanigans.

Oh, and of course anti-LGBT activists who make a point to "warn" people about LGBT people's patronage of a popular American theme park:

Personally, I just can't believe it's here already! It feels like the "war on Christmas" was just last week.

But hey, if the...

Exxon Mobil: Another year, another reminder for LGBT drivers to buy gas elsewhere

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 At 6.12.43 Pm-1One more year and the terribly misguided decision will be old enough to vote on itself:

For 17th time, Exxon Mobil rejects LGBT workplace protections [Washington Blade]

Two things I know for sure:

The drivers of history's wrong side always find fuel for far longer than they should

They always run out of gas eventually.

Terrible political operation NOM acted terribly in Maine; must now pay, comply

Despite its arrogant attempts to be, the National Organization For Marriage is not, in fact, above proper compliance and protocol. NOM and its leaders learned this yet again today:

AUGUSTA –– The state ethics board voted unanimously Wednesday to impose a $50,250 fine on the nation’s leading organization opposing gay marriage, a decision that could affect how nonprofit organizations attempt to influence Maine elections.

...

The vote also means that the state will require the National Organization...

Audio: Yet another murderous rampage carried out with guns? Blame 'attacks on natural marriage,' says FRC senior staff

In a chat with president Tony Perkins, Family Research Council senior fellow blamed "the attack on natural marriage and the family" as major driver for the senseless act of crazed gun violence that took place over the weekend in Isla Vista, California. Right Wing Watch caught the clip:

Family Research Council Spokesman Links Isla Vista Shooting Spree To Gay Marriage [Right Wing Watch]

Or, you know—guns.

GOP guvs going soft: WI Gov. Scott Walker (R) goes mealy-mouthed on marriage

Zack Ford reports over at ThinkProgress:

Wisconsin may be one of the next states to have its ban on same-sex marriage overturned, but Gov. Scott Walker (R), who faces a tight race for reelection this year, isn’t sure he’d agree with such a ruling. In an interview on Friday, Walker said he didn’t know if the ban violates the U.S. Constitution, despite having been one of its chief advocates.

“Any federal judge has got to look at that law not only with respect to the state’s constitution but what...

This is called discrimination: Maggie Gallagher will sacrifice support for marriage if it is to include gay people

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 At 9.47.47 Am

Maggie Gallagher acknowledges that marriage, in general, is troubled and claims she'd like to stabilize it. But here's her line in the sand:

“If supporting marriage requires us to support gay marriage, we cannot do this”

National Organization For Marriage co-founder Maggie Gallagher speaking to National Catholic Register

Which sounds pretty much like a kid saying she's going to take her ball and go home. And it also tells you pretty much all you need to know about Gallagher's priorities.

Look, s...
