Tonight: Sens. Cornyn, Cruz speak in defense of Texas-sized discrimination
Food is provided; animus is likely:
The petition these Republican U.S. Senators (and others) will be supporting pointedly refers to same-sex relationships as "deviant":

In case you were unclear about whether they really mean "defense" or it's yet another instance of social conservatives using that word to cover up their obvious offenses.

Arkansas Family Council fights civil marriage by calling it 'sin'; kind of like fighting drivers' licensing with cries of 'porcupine!'
The marriage debate is annoying for many reasons. Chief among them is the fact that our opposition is not even trying to have the same conversation as us:
ARKANSAS: An auspicious group of laymen, elected officials and over 100 Christian pastors in sharp black suits from around the state gathered on the steps of the Capitol to take a stand for the biblical principle of marriage between one man and one woman. Motivated by the judge’s ruling last week that redefined marriage, the group presented...
Audio: Richard Land equates serving a gay couple with serving a KKK induction ceremony
Prominent evangelical Richard Land, past president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics & Liberty Commission and current head of the Southern Evangelical Seminary, is sitting in for Tony Perkins on the Family Research Council president's daily radio show. On yesterday's edition, Land ably continued Perkins' tradition of unwittingly fostering LGBT rights when he directly compared a baker's need to bake a wedding cake for customers who happen to be gay to an African American baker's bein...

US District Court judge essentially ends NOM's ridiculous IRS lawsuit
Some snips:

Full ruling here.
In light of the facts, "damages from this single disclosure" is going to be a tough one for NOM to prove. A buck? A buck fifty, maybe?

NOM misspells Cory Booker's name, misrepresents his commitments
The National Organization For Marriage's support for discrimination, its related policy, and its proponents would be one thing. But something I've always found particularly detestable about this organization is the inability to simply support their candidate and his or her commitment to carrying water for the marriage inequality cause. Instead, they always have to disparage the other person as being "anti-" known goods like marriage and family, no matter how ludicrous that idea.
This time it's...
Jack Phillips is happy with his wedding cake–less biz? Great. Fine. Whatever.
While most of the business owners who the far-right holds up as supposed "victims" of same-sex marriage (or just LGBT equality, more accurately, since most of the situations arise in states without marriage equality) claim that their business has been all but ruined because of the damn gays and our belief that nondiscrimination ordinances actually apply to us as well (shocking, I know), I've noticed one curious difference when it comes to Colorado baker Jack Phillips, who the Colorado Human R...
Is NOM's #March4Marriage planning to piggy back off Ralph Reed's more high-profile event?
On the same day and in the same city as the National Organization For Marriage's planned march, lobby day, and gala, another much higher profile coalition of (largely anti-gay) conservatives will gather for their own lobbying and meeting and reception-ing. And this "Road to Majority" conference, organized by Ralph Reed's Faith and Freedom Coalition, is certainly much more star-studded than NOM's affair:
Road To majority Conference [F&FC]
Chris Christie just announced that he will speak as well....
Um, not sure I'd use the phrase 'drive a wedge' when defending a NOM event
The Coalition of African-American Pastors, which works in tandem with the National Organization for Marriage to cultivate discrimination here in America, recently posted a truly disgusting video that directly compares same-sex marriage's supposed affront to Black people to actual human rights blights like slavery, the KKK, segregation, and overt racism. CAAP posted the video in order to promote NOM's upcoming March For Marriage [Discrimination]. If you missed the clip, you can find it here.

'Ex-gay' dogmatists plan second 'Ex-Gay Awareness Month' (even though first one never really happened)
Last year's event was a hilarious failure, with only a tiny handful showing up for the lobbying portion of the event and so few showing interest in a planned gala at the Family Research Council that the idea was eventually cancelled. But what the "ex-gay" movement lacks in scientific backing it more than makes up for in persistence and support from some of the most anti-gay people in America. Which is why those anti-gay activists are giving it another go:

$100? Wow, the cost of forcing o...

NOM and Thomas Peters go after US Embassy to the Holy See for promoting LGBT equality
Both the National Organization For Marriage (a Catholic organization) and one of its key employees (or possibly former employee; it's unclear), Thomas Peters, are going after the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See (Vatican) for simply supporting LGBT equality and Pride Month. NOM's (catholic) writer Claire Chretien calls the acts "insulting provocations," equating basic support for LGBT people (some of whom are Catholic, just so we're clear) to pushing Muslims and Orthodox Jews to eat pork:
These in...
