Young learners everywhere can find inspiration to love going to school even more in Marcel Ray Duriez’s The Many Adventures of Cuddles: Tobey, Pandora and Cuddles. The book was featured in the 2016 BookExpo America (BEA), held last May 11 to 13 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
BEA is a prestigious international event and is the biggest book fair in North America. The event was attended by professionals and specialists in the publishing industry—authors, translators, publishers, illustrators and graphic designers, literary agents, publishers, teachers, among others.
The Many Adventures of Cuddles: Tobey, Pandora and Cuddles is a delightful storybook for children. In the boondocks of a mysterious neighborhood live three squirrels: Tobey, Pandora, and Cuddles. They live together in a home under the nut tree. Cuddles is the baby in the family and is going to start school in the fall, which is making her nervous and anxious. Readers see Cuddles making new friends, riding on her new bike, going to an amusement park, and doing many different things. Though she feels sad leaving her mom and dad while going to school, Cuddles learns a lot of new things while she is at school. Kids will enjoy this journey along with Cuddles, and the author helps young readers develop an interest in reading through this charming story. A good story for bedtime and teaching in your schools!
The book is made more appealing and captivating by the illustrations that breathe life and movement into the characters and scenes. The illustrations complement the author’s words beautifully and help children get into the reading habit. It’s a good book that can be used for bedtime storytelling, and it’s also good for read-aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. All the characters in the story have their own personality, and they are made more effective and palpable to readers with the help of the illustrations. Cuddles, her parents, and her friends will pull readers into the story, which will definitely encourage kids to read more books.
Children of all ages are sure to have fun reading about Cuddles’s adventures.

About the Author

Marcel Ray Duriez was born in 1991, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and was raised in a small town of Northern Cambria, previously known as Barnesboro–Northern Cambria. His educational background is in the fields of fine arts in diverse media, English, engineering, and music.
Duriez has started writing the Neveah manuscript, a book about stopping bullying. He also wrote Sammie and Ellie, a cute story on the same lines as Cuddles is. Sammie and Ellie is a very good book for kids. Duriez has been a teacher for years, and he read this one to the class. This is good for teaching kids how to be responsible, generous, and sociable. The story is not bad at all, somewhat chatty for real young kids, but good overall and recommended for everyone. Teachers will love this. The artwork helps make the book fun and enjoyable for readers. A Panda Bear Named Mandy is one that you will also love. “I want to say I believe in new talents in writing, like the Neveah manuscript. We have chatted briefly about his work, and I would say he can go for his dreams. I did. If I must give an opinion, I feel he can do it,” says Lauren Oliver, writer of Rooms and Before I Fall.
