Glittering Mykonos – where the rich go to play

The UK Spectator‘s columnist Taki wrote after a Mykonos jaunt, “Our one and only mistake was to come to this hideous island, now overrun by nouveau-riche ‘cool’ people. Vulgarity rules the roost as never before.”

Taki clearly sees the dark side of this Peter Pan Neverland isle, not the dream place where beauty, optimism and longing are forever frozen in time.

Hemingway’s Havana

Cuba – what an amazing country full of beautiful people. And Havana is simply gorgeous.

No wonder Ernest Hemingway felt an affinity with the country and wrote most of his masterpieces there.

Ready, action, sunset – Turtle Island, Fiji’s Hollywood links

Not just a gorgeous island in Fiji’s Yasawa Islands dedicated to soothing the spirit, Turtle Island is a star in its own right. It’s the location for one of the most recognised tropical island films, Blue Lagoon.

From silo to high life – Cape Town’s new luxury Silo Hotel

Once a historic grain silo, now a beautiful hotel, Cape Town’s new Silo Hotel glitters like a lighthouse on the Waterfront.

And the landmark Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) will open in September in the silos themselves.

Ireland – enchanting otherworld road trip

Ireland and Northern Ireland, I must admit, are two of my favourite countries.

What bliss therefore, to get in a car and drive for seven days the 1100-road trip from Dublin up around the Northern Ireland coast down to Galway.

Here’s my story published in The Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne Age Traveller on June 9, 2017. The online link is below for easier reading:
