Historians on Sexuality

Het Historian: Well, as passionate as these letters between two people of the same sex are, we can't be sure that they were anything more than friends. They can't be considered what we now call call 'gay', because obviously they were married to someone of the opposite gender and that means they were obviously heterosexual.

knightinironarmor:

remember that time SHIELD managed to get the controlling interest of stark industries and tried to get tony to produce weapons again but then tony just had this intense badass moment where he was completely cool like“here’s the thing: if i’m an employee now, then i’m taking all of the time off that accumulated for me over the years, which amounts to nine months of you not having access to me so i’ll send you a post card from tahiti and until then, have a list of all stark...

Poll: 30 Percent of GOP Primary Voters, 19 Percent of Dems Want to Bomb the City From Aladdin:

dduane:

Apparently this is for real: PPP, which is known for asking cheeky/provocative questions in its polls, asked voters if they would support bombing Agrabah—the city depicted in the animated Disney film Aladdin—during an otherwise straightforward survey, and some said yes.

On the one hand, this is crazy; on the other, “Agrabah” sounds pretty similar to “Aleppo” and “Raqqa,” which are two Syria...

Because I don’t know about you guys, but if someone left a kid on my porch, my first reaction would not be “aw how cute I think I’ll keep it." It would be "holy $*#@ wtf is this what’s the number for CPS omg someone do something help.”

I’m not trying to apologize for Meisterburger or ma...

Esmeralda

big-gadje-world:

(cw: rape, lynching, slavery)

I remember watching The Hunchback of Notre-Dameas a child, and for the first time, seeing another Gypsyon my television screen. She looked like my cousins; like my family. She was kind, but strong willed. More importantly, she was the only representation of a Romani woman that I saw as a young child.

All right, gypsy, where’d you get that money?
For your information, I earned it.
Gypsies don’t earn money.
They steal it.

No one ever told me that th...
