Beatitudes
BEAUTITUDES
The eight positive attitudes that come from eight opening lines of Jesus of Nazareth’s famous “Sermon on the Mount”
HAPPY ATTITUDES
I need Help. I can’t do it alone.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom in heaven”
I am really hurting- but I am going to bounce back.
“Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted”
I am going to remain cool, calm and corrected.
“Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth”
I really want to do the right thing.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be satisfied”
I am going to treat others the way I want others to treat me.
“Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy”
I have got to let the faith flow free through me.
“Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see god”
I am going to be a bridge builder.
“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.”
I can choose to be happy-Anyway!
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”
Here’s a book I possess and always gift others. This review I wrote is from:
The Be (Happy) Attitudes: 8 Positive Attitudes That Can Transform Your Life (Paperback)
– Review by ilaxi patel
Robert Schuller’s another Best Spiritual release drawing from the famous section of the Sermon on the Mount, the Bible tales. Rob emphasis on the eight positive mental attitudes that transforms life. Rob says ‘Let faith flow freely…and you can climb the rugged mountains, cross the stormy seas and fly on high skies. This is one great book I possess which helps me ease up my spirits when things really fall apart. When mysteries of life encircle you to find the inner feeling ‘How to be Happy’ in spite of good health, wealth, friends, job satisfaction etc, its a bed side shelf book to peek into the ‘Be Happy Attitudes’ :
1. I need Help, I can’t do it alone!
2. I’m really hurting but going to bounce back
3. I’m going to remain cool, calm and corrected
4. I really want to do the right thing
5. I’m going to treat others the way I want them to treat me
6. I’ve got to let faith flow freely through me
7. I’m going to be a bridge builder
8. I can choose to be happy, anyway!
If you really want to read the ‘right stuff’ – adopt a ‘Go for it’ Attitude towards your life and dreams.

Prayers
Prayers
The sign of the cross :
In the name of the Father, and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE THY NAME.
THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN
GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD,
FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES AS WE FORGIVE
THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US
AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION
BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL
AMEN.
Prayer on Lips brings one closer to God! Recently I was reading a Book of Neale Donald Walsche ‘Conversations with God’ It is said “Communication is the key to success” but how and when do we communicate with God? Neale Donald Walsch has a way showing his readers how to be communicate with the ultimate super power ‘God’ and develop a friendly relation, irrelevant of the fact whether you can see him, meet him or not! Neale’s dialogue with god fetches him back the answers that he could not visualize and foresee.
I vaguely remember one of my print page reader Munira Budhdev from Nadiad had sent me an email saying that she is a muslim and wish to know the Hindu religion and especially teach her kids some Hindu Prayers.Well, this is one great difference we can make. Its we, who create differences of caste and creed and we ourselves who can bridge in the gaps too!! Afterall, we are all human beings who can understand one language and that is Humanity! Here are some Prayers which might be useful to some:

Heritage Week : Memories
Heritage week and it had to be a last moment planned visit to Music Festival at Adalaj vav on 19th November 2016.
Saw many with selfies and poses and sure a Feel Good Factor as I pose…The place and the olden days carving is so tempting..Been here earlier too but this was too Classical music and especially, the saxophone.
But, here will be talking on The Adalaj Vav. Set in the quiet village of Adalaj, this vav has served as a resting place for hundreds of years for many pilgrims and caravans along their trade routes. Built in 1499 by Queen Rudabai, wife of the Vaghela chief, Veersinh, this five-storey stepwell was not just a cultural and utilitarian space, but also a spiritual refuge. It is believed that villagers would come everyday in the morning to fill water, offer prayers to the deities carved into the walls and interact with each other in the cool shade of the vav. There is an opening in the ceilings above the landing which allows the light and air to enter the octagonal well. However, direct sunlight does not touch the flight of steps or landings except for a brief period at noon. Hence some researchers say that the atmosphere inside the well is six degrees cooler than the outside. Another remarkable feature of this stepwell is that out of the many stepwells in Gujarat, it is the only one with three entrance stairs. All three stairs meet at the first storey, underground in a huge square platform, which has an octagonal opening on top. The vav is a spectacular example of Indo-Islamic architecture and design. The harmonious play of intricate Islamic floral patterns seamlessly fusing into Hindu and Jain symbolism embody the culture and ethos of those times. All the walls carved by ornamentation, mythological scenes along with everyday scenes of women churning buttermilk, dancers accompanied by musicians, women adorning themselves and a king sitting on a stool. Fascinating to many visitors is the Ami Khumbor (a pot that contains the water of life) and the Kalp Vriksha (a tree of life) carved out of a single slab of stone. There is a belief that the small frieze of navagraha (nine-planets) towards the edge of the well protects the monument from evil spirits.
I wonder why this do not appear in the List of UNESCO’s World Heritage Site.
Jazz – The Water Festival Adalaj ni vav #Heritage saw Amazing performance by Louis Banks, Sanjay Divecha, Gino Banks, Sheldon D’Silva, varun Venkat and Fazal Qureshi. Organized by Crraft Of Art festival, The show was simply a superb communication of artists which I could understand their language of Expression through #music – Heritage world week simply enthralling…This was on 24th November 2015.
Water Festival at Rani ki vav, Patan. An amazing World Heritage place. Loved the ambience, the open surroundings and the huge feel of the well lit vav. I went here on last year on 19th November 2015.
Rani kivav is an intricately constructed stepwell situated in the town of Patan in Gujarat, India. It was included in the list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Site on 22 June 2014.
Raniki Vav, “the Queen’s stepwell”, at Patan, the medieval capital of Gujarat, was built in the last decades of the eleventh century by Queen Udayamati as a memorial to her husband Bhimadeva-1 of the Caulukya dynasty. Measuring more than sixty-five meters in length, it is among the largest in Gujarat, and in terms o
f its sculptures which number about five hundred, surpasses all other examples.
The stepwell, or a well with an underground flight of steps leading down to the level of the water, developed early in the arid region of Western India and Rajasthan. The place is completely transformed that earlier times – the humble village well was transformed into a strikingly original architectural form. Wonderfully carved brackets with forms of Lord Shiva, Vishnu and others. There is also a small Gate below the last step of the step well which has a 30 kilometre tunnel built (Now it has been blocked by stones and mud) which leads to the town of Sidhpur near Patan. It was used as an escape gateway for king who built the step well in the times of defeat.

Kids who eat watching TV or Tablets go Obese
KIDS who eat watching TV or tablets in their bedrooms are more likely to become obese, a study has revealed.
Researchers at the University of Glasgow found a direct link between the two. Children were also often bombarded with ads for unhealthy food, they said.
He said: “Children’s bedrooms should be TV and tablet free or certainly they should be immobilised at bedtime.
“There should be no room for snacking and grazing switched on by TV and social media.
“If regular mealtimes are respected, then you will have a healthier and more attentive child.
“There should be fixed bedtimes and tablets in bedrooms should be immobilised, it is as simple as that.
“Fixed meal times should be absolutely mandatory for any family even if it’s only one parent being there. At home it should be part of the routine.”
Dr Alison Parkes said eating while watching TV also delays children feeling full and makes them forget what and how much they have eaten.
It is also noted that almost one in five families reveal that they watch TV while they eat, and these findings suggest TV in the bedroom for kids can also be a distraction from eating well. Add to that the level of junk food advertising during family TV, and it’s far from a healthy recipe.
We’ve got to set the example for children so by eating and cooking with them and making mealtimes TV and internet-free zones, we can help set them up for a healthier future.

Kidsfreesouls-Google Personalized News: Kids Writing
It’s normal these days to use symbols and abbreviations, but have you ever wondered how technology could be affecting the way kids are writing in school? Would their essays and book reports contain as much LOLs and emoticons as their social media posts? Well, you’ll be relieved to find out that today’s college student writing has the same number of errors as it did back in 1917.
This is according to a national longitudinal study on student writing conducted by Andrea A. Lunsford and Karen J. Lunsford. In fact, the study also found that students nowadays are even writing longer essays and are using more complicated rhetorical techniques.
The study entitled, “Mistakes Are a Fact of Life: A National Comparative Study” was undertaken by Lunsford and Lunsford, rhetoric and composition professors at Stanford University and the University of California Santa Barbara, respectively. This is in response to government studies worrying about the decline of students’ literacy level back in 2006.
The two professors did not find evidence that students are using instant messaging (IM) jargon and abbreviations in their papers, no “text speak” and not a single emoji was found. What’s surprising is that the researchers found text speak and some of the anticipated digital-era errors students would make in notes and comments teachers made on the students’ written works.
The study, published in 2008 involved information from research undertaken in the last hundred years and it replicated the process of analyzing hundreds of papers to identify errors in students’ writing.

Rare and Unique Collection of Books
My Books and my world of rare and unique collection of Books with my interview was recently featured on ABPNews Asmita Channel to mark the celebration of Children’s Day.
Being the celebration of Children’s Day on the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, here’s a quote I would like to refer :
“Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow ~ Jawaharlal Nehru”
Children are like wet cement; anything that falls upon them, makes an impression. And I feel, cultivating Reading Habits and love for Library is an impression and influence that builds characters.
My interview with ABPNews Asmita’s Chaitali Bhagat was about Books for Children and all about ‘Just Books’. I Love to spend hours Reading and writing – a collection ranging from Children Books, Fiction, Classics, Encyclopedias, Reference Books, Management, Religion, Poetry, Books on Quotes, Non fiction etc – my Library is equipped fully with all interesting, rare and unique Books with even mags like Photo Romance, Kiss and Darling Magazines. Russian Magazine for Children ‘Misha’, Target, Teens Today, Teenagers, Champak, Chandamama, Tinkle and over 3000 Archies that adorn the shelf. There are series of Noddy, Raold Dahl, Enid Blyton, Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, children stories and sets, Over 15 Children Encylopedias, Classics, sets of Amar Chitrakatha … Endless count of Genre ranging from Business Books, Religion, Fiction and Mags like Auto Drive, Reader’s Digest, Osho Times, Femina, Filmfare etc.
The repeat telecast featured my interview and this also took me down memory lane of my childhood – the first 2 Books (Cinderella and Snow White) – Rs. 10/- each was a gift so cherished. I remember, I had to go for a Birthday Party and my brother took me to a shop to buy a beautiful Taj Mahal which costed just Rs.25/- when I was a child. He got me these two lovely books which I still have in my Library even in a worn out condition. Another memory I relate is that the Taj Mahal was beautiful but when I went to that party, all children had lovely big gifts, well packed and I felt embarassed that I hid the Taj Mahal piece behind my back and quietly placed on the Gift Table. Happens, isn’t it
At my Library, I have a Saturday session for Children and they have round the year 52 saturdays for reading, writing, narrating and sharpening their Speech skills and creativity. They engage in various activities related to literature and learning. Here’s the Swagat Children Library Page you may love to visit.

Caleb’s Birthday Wish by David Villanueva Jr.
Imagination Soars With One Birthday Wish!
Close your eyes…make a wish…blow the candles out on your birthday cake…and what do you get? An adventure of a lifetime!
CALEB’S BIRTHDAY WISH is a story about a little boy in a wheelchair who wishes he could fly! With the aid of two magic blue balloons, Caleb soars through the sky across the tree tops and over the city zoo where he encounters chimpanzees, and a sneezing giraffe! But how does Caleb get back home?
Author David Villanueva Jr. has captured the essence of a child’s imagination in his story, and doesn’t focus on Caleb’s disability being an obstacle, but rather, that you can do anything if you dream big.
First published in 2006, CALEB’S BIRTHDAY WISH had been out of print since 2007, but is being re-released for its 10th anniversary. It is for children ages 3-7, and parents have described the book as “fun and imaginative.”
CALEB’S BIRTHDAY WISH is available on Lulu.com and Amazon.
David Villanueva Jr. resides in Los Angeles, and is the author of the children’s books BELLA THE CROOKED HAT WITCH (written under his pen name Jordan Serafin), CALEB’S BIRTHDAY WISH, THE MISADVENTURES OF MEL B, THE BUTTERFLY PRINCESSES, and THE EXTRAORDINARY CAPERS OF LOCHLIN DE CARLO (coming late 2016).
He says, ” The children’s books I write are books I would have wanted to read
as a kid!” – David Villanueva Jr.
