New Year’s Blog Hop: Setting goals and meeting them
It’s another year over! Can you believe it? Well we authors, readers, and bloggers sure can’t. And to celebrate the New Year with bang, we’re going crazy and sending out so many prizes, fun parties, experiences, and other goodies, that it’s a bit scary. Each author has a favorite New Year memory, book, idea, or way to party and we’re going to show you! Can’t wait to see you January 1st – 6th!
And while we do that, we are EACH doing a giveaway. Yep. There will be over 200 giveaways on each blog hosted by that Author or Blogger.
But that’s not all….
We have THREE grand prizes. You as a reader can go to EACH blog and comment with your email address and be entered to win. Yep, you can enter over 200 times!
Now what are those prizes?
1st Grand Prize: A Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet
2nd Grand Prize: A $300 Amazon or B&N Gift Card
3rd Grand Prize: A Swag Pack that contains paperbacks, ebooks, 50+ bookmarks, cover flats, magnets, pens, coffee cozies, and more!
There’s always a lot of talk about making New Year resolutions. I don’t make them, I make goals. My 2012 goals were publish 4 books before the end of the year. I’m so proud to say that I did it! In May my 1Night Stand, Ravished Before Sunrise, released. July Forgotten Visions, book 1 of The Divinities series released. November Death’s Storm, The Divinities and in December the prequel to my new shifter series, Winter Eve, released.
My 2013 goals are to publish at least 4 more books and make 2013 my last year to have to work the day job. It’ll be a lot of work, but I can do it. After all, I love writing and hanging out with my characters. The thought of living my dream and stay home to work for myself out weights the stresses of working two jobs until it happens.
What are your New Year goals?
The Divinities Series by Lia Davis
Over three hundred years ago children were born to an elite group of witches that were unlike any of the other magical children. These children were born with a mark, a living tattoo of a single rose on the inside of the left forearm. They possess natural divine powers. The magical communities, called Covens, believed the children were gifts from the gods and called them The Divinities.
For decades the war between witches and demons seemed to diminish. Until recently. Two Divinities are missing. Three are dead, along with their spouses. The victims were among the Divinities appointed by Hecate to watch over the Sinew–the source of all magic.
Now it is up to the Divinities to keep the Sinew from the demons and protect magickin and the world from a fate far worse than anyone can imagine.

Strong, Compassionate Alpha Males and my real life inspiration to write them
Yes, I have a real life alpha male. He’s my soul mate, best friend, lover, protector, and everything else I need. He’s also stubborn and likes to be in control of most things, but he knows how and when to compromise. He keeps me grounded where I’d usually go over the edge, or spend too much money, LOL.
He”s not prefect. He has quirks that I find amusing and annoying. Sometimes both at the same time.
Those are the types of heroes I like to write with a little more of an edge, because they paranormal beings, of course.
Nevan from Winter Eve is human, but was raised with shifters. So he had picked up a few habits from his stepbrothers over the years. like his ability to move with little to no sound. He’s also more in tune to his empathy than others and can use it as his six sense much like the shifters uses there sense of smell and hearing. He would also do anything to protect those he loves.
I have a few heroes coming up that will be a little edger than in my previous stories. I’m having fun learning more about them and seeing ways to crumble their walls so they can fall deeply in love with their mates.
What is your favorite quality in a hero?

A little about Winter Eve and Ashwood Falls
Ashwood Falls is a mountain town hidden high in the Smokey Mountains. The entire territory is the merger of two Packs–the leopards and the wolves—after their dens were attacked by a group of rogue shifters. The series opens with Winter Eve, the prequel and a small taste of what’s to come. Here is the series synopsis.
There comes a time when setting your differences aside isn’t just necessary, it’s a means of survival. After losing over half of their dens to a group rogue shifters, the wolves and leopards merged as one Pack, but living together is much more of a challenge then they expected.
Two Packs must depend on each other to survive and fight against their enemies—a rogue Pack called Onyx. The wolves and leopards came together and merged their lands to form one den and community where their people can rebuild their lives after the attacks that nearly destroyed them.
As I’m writing the first novel of the series, A Tiger’s Claim, I’m falling more and more in love with my shifters and the world that is unfolding around them. Where Winter Eve gives you a great opening and introduces you to some of the residents of Ashwood Falls, A Tiger’s Claim will go deeper into the world and a look into some of the struggles the Packs are facing in order to live together.
For those who haven’t had the chance to read Winter Eve, go get it. It’s a beautiful story of trust, true love, and hope. And of course the magick of winter is intertwined. Here’s the blurb and buy links.
Winter Eve, Ashwood Falls prequel
Blurb:
Danica Welsh was born to be the leopard pack healer. An accident involving a drug induced youth left her badly burned and scared—emotionally and physically. Without the ability to heal by touch, she secludes herself to the edge of town, away from Ashwood Falls’ overly concerned citizens. All hope of mating and family become a distance dream. When she finally starts to accepts the long, lonely existence ahead of her, a stranger crashes into her life, and her heart.
After Nevan Mathews’ fiancée died three ago, he submerged himself into his work, cutting off all reminders of a life he dreamed of with the woman he loved. He lets his step-mother talk him into taking the first vacation in five years to visit for the holidays. But an accident delays his travel plans, sending him to Danica’s doorstep and raises a need he thought he would never feel again.
Can they tear down the walls around their hearts and submit to the passion before another claims Dani for his own?
Warning: Contains a shifter who’s scars run deeper than skin, a human who has the heart of a shifter, and a snow storm that’s sure to have them both reaching for warmth.

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! Did you get everything you wanted? Well, my husband and I don’t exchange gifts. We buy what we need through out the year. Besides I have my real life hero. What more can I ask for? Although he did buy me Keurig a couple of weeks ago.
I love it! and so does he. LOL. But at the first of the year we’ll be ripping out the carpet and putting down laminate flooring. I can’t wait.
Yesterday, we had Christmas Eve dinner with my in-laws and ate too much. LOL. And we get to do it again today. We’re going over to my parents house for dinner. But I love getting together with family. Especially with everyone’s busy schedules.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.
Love and Joy,
Lia

Updates and extras for my wonderful readers
I’ve been updating the website. Yes, again. LOL. But this is a good update, especially for my readers. I added some new pages. There is a recent releases page that list the books that were recently released. A Works in Progress page that list out what I have coming up and the status of each book. (there are a couple of new series in the works.
) And a whole section just for readers! There is a page for desktop wallpaper and a Divinities corner where you’ll find a list of characters and their bios and a list of glossary terms. Other pages (newsletter signup and street team signup) are not new, I just moved them to be better accessible for you, my readers. I’ll be working on an Ashwood Falls’ corner as well as wallpaper soon, so keep checking back.
What’s coming?
I’m a week away from the Winter Eve blog tour. Yay! I’ll be working on my guest post and interviews this weekend to make sure I’m ready to go. LOL.
I’m writing A Tiger’s Claim, Ashwood Falls book 1, right now. I haven’t made much progress lately with the release of Winter Eve. Release weeks are always hectic. But I have managed to get at least 200 words down each day. Hey, it counts! LOL. I have to write something or my characters will go on vacation without me.
I hope everyone has a very happy holidays and a blessed new year.
Best wishes,
Lia

Super Book Blast and Giveaway: THE CHRISTMAS DARE
The Christmas Dare
by Joan Chandler
BLURB:
Self-professed Christmas addict Gia Dixon, and by-the-book Ethan Castle have been best friends all their lives. When tragedy strikes Ethan’s family, Gia’s the rock he depends on to pull him through the darkest days. Then, a shared, long-forgotten memory leads to an unexpected yet tender kiss. Can a simple Christmas dare help them find true love?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
Funny how times had changed, Gia thought to herself. How was it possible to have gone all these years and not have thought of him romantically? Yet now all she wanted to do was steal a minute alone to kiss him again. Or more.
She saw headlights coming down the road and opened the door, preparing to walk out to meet him.
“No, ma’am,” she heard Ethan call out. He was already getting out of his Jeep and motioned for her to turn around and go back inside.
She was unsure what to make of it, but did as he asked. Then she heard the doorbell ring. Slowly she opened the door, and saw his smiling face. She backed up a step to allow him to walk inside.
“We may be taking things slow, but I’m still going to do it the right way. When I ask you out on a date, I’ll park and come to your door. If this were seven years ago and you were living at home, your dad would have kicked my ass if he ever caught me letting you just walk out to the curb to get in my car.”
Gia could easily recall the many times her father had complained about that when other boys had done it to her.
“How right you are. My mistake.” She laughed. “From now on I’ll expect to be courted properly according to the Henry Dixon Dating Manual.”
“Besides, stealing a quick moment alone behind closed doors gives me the opportunity to do this.” He pulled her into his embrace to softly kiss her.
When their lips parted, she commented, “I don’t think Daddy had that in mind when he made up that particular rule. But you score extra points for showing initiative.”
~~ Excerpt ~~
The residents of Ashwood Falls buzzed around busy with preparations for the Winter Solstice festival. Danica parked the snowmobile in a small lot next to the community center and watched some leopard and wolf cubs throwing snowballs at each other. Nevan pulled up next to her and took off his helmet.
“They look like they’re having fun.”
She glanced at his face and then at his hands. “Don’t you dare.”
He waggled his brows. “I’ll give you a head start.”
Shit. He was seriously going to throw a snowball at her. She took off toward the park where the kids where playing, figuring she’d at least be a little safe. A solid ball of snow hit her in the back. She squealed, and the kids laughed.
“Oh, yeah?” She gathered some snow in her hands to form a small ball. The children scattered as she threw it. It hit one of the Russell twins in the bottom. The six-year-old yelped playfully, and he fell to the ground as if he’d been shot, landing in the snow on his back with his arms spread out straight from his little body. Danica laughed, and then she let out a yelp when the sting of a frozen ball hit her on the butt.
Whirling around, she quickly picked up more snow to form an adult-sized ball and hurled it at Nevan, hitting him in the chest. He fell to the ground, and fear shot through her. Shit. She forgotten to hold back. Rushing over to him, she checked for a pulse, and she hovered her left hand over his chest.
Suddenly, she was pulled down and flipped onto her back, Nevan’s smiling face inches from hers. “Gotcha,” he said.
The rapid beats of her heart quickened to heavy thumps behind her ribcage at the thought of his lips touching hers. His pine-and-sage scent teased her muted sense of smell. He inched closer until a shadow fell over them.
They quickly stood to face the newcomer, and her happy mood turned sour. “Hello, Jared.”
“Good morning, Dani.” The alpha jaguar was dressed in his usual dress pants and button-up shirt underneath his black, unbuttoned wool jacket. Jared was very handsome with his sun-lightened brown hair and golden-brown eyes. He was the Packs’ legal advisor; a lawyer by human definition. He aided Keegan and Luna—the wolf’s Alpha female—in any, and all, legal issues that concerned the citizens of Ashwood Falls. He would be the perfect mate. But, Danica couldn’t find the spark. Her cat wanted nothing to do with him.
“Who’s your friend?”
Lia: Hi, Jagger. Thanks for coming. How are you?
Jagger: Hello. I’m well.
Lia: Please share with everyone a little about you.
Jagger: *he lifts a brow, but plays along* I’m a death demon in every aspect of the title and an appointed guardian of the Divinities. I can take life, and because my biological mother is a descendant of the Fates, I can give life. I’m loyal to the Goddess Hecate, who adopted my brother and me as children.
Lia: Care to share a little about your childhood?
Jagger: *Crosses his arms over his broad chest* Nope. Nothing to tell.
Lia: All righty. How about the war? Does the fact that you’re a demon cause any internal conflict?
Jagger: *he laughs* conflict with who? The other demons, maybe. I, for one, relish in the fact that I’m on the side that gets to kill the bastards. It brings me closer to Khan, the vile creature that ordered my village destroyed many centuries ago.
Lia: *I smile, thinking of how much he and Khloe have in common* How are things with Khloe?
Jagger: *a grin spreads across his sensual lips* She is and will forever be my impulsive elemental witch and shapeshifter.
Lia: How’s she coping with her inner cat?
Jagger: She’s incredibly smart and strong. She’s learning to control the shift and the impulsive nature of hers. Plus Kristoff is helping. Although I would like to find a female shifter to aid in Khloe’s training.
Lia: Jealous?
Jagger: *narrows his eyes* No.
Lia: *I snicker* What’s your favorite color?
Jagger: Teal, the color of Khloe’s eyes
Lia: Boxers or briefs?
Jagger: neither
Lia: Favorite food?
Jagger: Chocolate poured over Khloe’s body.
Lia: Thanks so much for chatting with me today. It was fun.
Jagger: Not sure about fun, but it was interesting. It was a pleasure to talk with you.
Khloe and Jagger’s story is told in the second book of The Divinities series. Below is the blurb and an excerpt. Thanks for coming by and meeting Jagger.
Guest post by Graylin Fox
Hello, I’m Graylin Fox and welcome to my BLOODLINES Book Tour with Sizzling PR.
This novella is the second in a series; it began with CONTAGION in April 2011. I’m a huge fan of Jennifer Estep and Kim Harrison and after a weeklong reading frenzy that included six books from two series, my brain started percolating, and the Summer Fae Stories was born.
Tessa is a 23-year-old elf who found out in CONTAGION she survived the plague that killed her family and millions of other humans because she’s an elf. Then her ex-boyfriend, the boy she walked into walls thinking about in high school, shows up as the person responsible. She and her friends have to fight ogres who are coming over from the Otherworld to eliminate humans.
Kyl is a four-inch pine green fairy with translucent wings that give away his emotions. His wife Angel and their ten children live in a tree at the edge of her backyard. Rusty is a goblin, he escaped slavery in CONTAGION, and his desire to free his family in the Otherworld pushes this story forward. Jasper is an SUV sized dragon with opalescent wings and darkening scales. He’s fifty years old and immature for a dragon but Tessa frequently sees flashes of wisdom in his eyes.
BLOODLINES starts six months after CONTAGION ends as the group is settled into Tessa’s family cabin. The trip to free Rusty’s family puts Tessa in danger as a twenty-year-old bounty is still on her head in the Otherworld. Bounty hunters come after her and so does the person who masterminded the plague and he might be related to her! Her ex-boyfriend, assigned by the King to protect her, joins them. This leaves her vulnerable, confused, and more emotional than she should be as she tries to use her ice magic and keep from getting kidnapped.
Bloodlines: The Second Summer Fae Story
by Graylin Fox
Six months ago, Tessa and her friends saved humanity by preventing the spread of a deadly virus. Now, they’ve returned to their normal lives in their cabin nestled amid the Appalachian Mountains, slowly recovering from the havoc wreaked by her ex-boyfriend.
When Rusty, a goblin born into slavery, begs Tessa to return to the Otherworld to aid him in freeing his family, she agrees. There they find the most unlikely of residents—Matthew. With no love lost between them, he’s quick to inform her there is a twenty-year-old bounty on her head and the person who concocted the deadly virus wants to collect. Tessa is caught in a race to learn magic, help Rusty, get to her elven family and, oh yeah, save the world—again.
~~ Excerpt ~~
The forest was beautiful. The plants were between six and seven feet tall with all different colors of flowers. The scent was not overwhelming, but she could tell when it changed as she passed each plant.
Her mind wandered as they walked. The knowledge that her elven family was here somewhere sat in the back of her mind and refused to budge.
Do I look like them? Do I have brothers and sisters? Do they know I’m alive?
The questions repeated over and over as she walked. Every once in a while, she would slow down as she let her mind wander, and Jasper would gently nudge her from behind. Tessa quickly learned that a gentle nudge from a dragon could knock her over if she wasn’t careful.
“Thanks, Jasper,” she said as she brushed dirt off her knees.
“I’m so sorry, Tessa. I saw them moving away and wanted to catch up.” His scales flushed pink and he pulled his wings to his belly.
“It’s okay.” She patted his head. “It’s my mind wandering that has my feet slow.”
“Do you want to ride?” He lowered his head so she could climb into the saddle.
“I’d rather walk but if you could walk beside me, I’ll hold a wing and you can pull me if I slow down.” She grasped the elbow part of his folded wing and was amazed at the soft leathery feel. They moved fast to catch up to the group, which was now headed by an impatient goblin with his arms folded.
Did Matthew walk this same path when he was sent here after high school? What did it feel like for him to suddenly be in a different world? A part of her wanted to sit down with him and ask these questions, because if he was evil, it meant she didn’t see it and that would hurt more. She wanted to hear that it was his trip here, an additional rejection to add to the bullying from Earth that drove him to be so angry he could commit genocide.
I loved him once, but did I know him?
