Eisner Award Nomination!

Last month i got really good news: American Vampire, was nominated for Best New Series in the Eisner Award 2011.

This is a big honor,specially because its considered one of the most importants in the industry. Needless to say that Scott, Mark and I we are very happy with the nomination and we appreciate all the support of the readers and press on the book. The winners will be revealed in July, in the San Diego ComicCon.

Website is back!

Hey everybody!

Back in back in business with a brand new website, developed by the friends from Jungle It!. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I had several problems with spam, on the other one, and really couldn't update the blog anymore. The new website features recent artwork, convention schedules and, of course, an updated(fingers crossed) blog.

American Vampire and Holidays!

Im getting a lot of messages asking if im leaving American Vampire. Guys, i really appreciated the love and concerning but DON'T WORRY! IM STILL IN!!

The book is my main project, im very happy on it, and really, Scott, Mark and I we are preparing a lot of really cool stuff for the next arcs. Ill stay for the WHOLE run, drawing the main arcs while we will ave some guest artists (Like Mateus Santolouco who is beautifully illustrating issues #10 and #11 and the awesome Danjel Zezelj who is taking care of issue #12. Ill be back on issue #13, that will feature a new big arc on the 4oties.

Again, thanks for the love, and enjoy Santolouco and Zezelj art! They are really kicking ass!

American Vampire wins the IGN Best of 2010 Award!

Every year, the entertainment website IGN chooses the year's best videogames, movies, TV shows, and, luckly, COMICS!

After several good reviews from them, American Vamipre, the comic series that I run with Scott Snyder was choosen the BEST NEW SERIES of 2010 and nominated for BEST SERIES OF THE YEAR.

We coludn't be happier with everything that happen in 2010. The great feedback from the reviews, all the love of the fans.

Thank you IGN fellas, its a big honor,  and even more, thank YOU for reading this book!

Todo ano, o site de entretenimento IGN, escolhe os melhores videogames, filmes séries e, ainda bem, escolhe os melhores QUADRINHOS!

Depois de alguns ótimos reviews neste site, Vampiro Americano, série que faço juntamente com Scott Snyder, ganhou o prêmio de MELHOR SÉRIE NOVA de 2010, aém de ter sido indicada a MELHOR SÉRIE DO ANO.

Não poderíamos estar mais felizes com tud que aconteceu/está acontecendo este ano. As boas críticas para a revista, o carinho que os fãs tem pelos personagens. Acho que este tipo de prêmio coroa esta boa fase.

Obrigado pessoal do IGN, é um grande privilégio, e principalmente, obrigado a VOCÊ, por ler Vampriro Americano.

American Vampire #8 out this week!

Allright! American Vampire day! Issue #8 is out and this one was a lot of work! Im really proud of this. Dave's coloring is really amazing and the story….uff! A lot of revelations!

Like issue #7, we re-did the cover for printing. Cash was too different than what we did on the actual book, so i decided to work it out again.

Superboy #1 Cover

Here is the cover i did for Superboy #1, written by the awesome Jeff Lemire (Sweet Tooth) and illustrated by Pier Gallo.

We have worked with a simple briefing here. First, We needed something iconic, something that could bring the old fans of the character back, but also, something that would make people who doesnt like Superboy that much see why he is important and interesting, and second: Superboy should look a….boy. Not a 30 years old guy, a boy. A 17 year old kid. Tops.

Im happy with the way it came out and wish i could stay doing it for a while, unfortunatelly, an schedule problem made impossible for me to keep on it right now. Fingers crossed to do it later! I want to thank specially Jeff and Will Moss for support and opportunity to do this. Big honor!

Aqui está a capa que eu fiz para Superboy #1, escrita por Jeff Lemire (Sweet Tooth) e desenhada por Pier Gallo.

Quando me pediram para fazer a capa, me passaram um briefing simples: Primeiramente queríamos algo icônico, que trouxesse os antigos fãs do personagem de volta, mas que fizessem aquelas pessoas que não gostam tanto assim achar a proposta interessante. E segundo, fazer dele um …garoto. Não um rapaz de 30 anos. Um garoto. De 17. No máximo.

FIquei bem satisfeito com o resultado e gostaria muito de fazer as capas por muito tempo, infelizmente, por problemas de cronograma, não vou poder continuar. Espero que algum dia haja espaço para voltar, entretanto. Foi realmente divertido fazer parte disso.

Eu gostaria especialmente de agradecer ao Jeff e ao editor Will Moss, pela oportunidade. Grande honra!

American Vampire Vol 1 on the NY Times Bestseller List.

Hi Everybody.

There is a looong time I dont post anything here and i have a good excuse. I just had no time to do anything else than American Vampire and going conventions. I didnt even had time to download the pics yet! Now, things are calmer.

Unfortunately I wont attend Rio ComicCon, so ill have more time to give the blog and social networks the proper attention.

All right! American Vampire Vol1 HC is out for about a month, and i have to say, its going really well. So well, that the book is on the NY Times Bestseller List for 3 weeks.

I really want to thank Scott, Stephen, Mark and Will for making it happen, and specially, the support of the fans, who are really making it happen.

Soon, ill do a post about NYCC and Crack bang Boom. The two conventions i went last month!

Olá pessoal.

Sei que faz um tempão que não atualizo isso aqui, mas tenho uma boa desculpa. Eu simplesmente não tenho tido tempo de fazer nada além de desenhar o segundo arco de American Vampire e ir de uma convenção para outra.

Infelizmente, não vou ir à Rio ComicCon, mas felizmente, vou poder dedicar a atenção devida às redes sociais e blog.

Certo! Vamos ao que interessa: American Vampire, Vol1, que saiu a mais ou menos um mês atrás, está indo MUITO bem. Tão bem, que figura na cobiçada lista do NY Times dos livros mais vendidos a 3 semanas.

Essa é uma daquelas coisas que fazem o esforço todo valer a pena. Especialmente, queria agradcer aos colegas Scott, Steven, Mark e Will, e especialmente aos apoio dos fãs da série, que realmente estão fazendo a coisa toda acontecer.

Em outubro, na bela cidade de Rosário, na Argentina, vai acontecer o Primeiro Festival Internacional de Quadrinhos. O Crack Bang Boom. Evento organizado por ninguem menos que Eduardo Risso, o premiado artista de 100 Balas (Vertigo).

O evento convidou profissionais de peso: Jim Lee, Horácio Altuna, Humberto Ramos, Brian Azarello, Leandro Fernandez, Ariel Olivetti, Will Dennis, Marcelo Frusin, Pascual Ferry, Fábio Moon, Gabriel Bá, Rafael Grampá, e (pasmem) EU.
