“VR Fail” Is The New Clickbait

Last year was so VR is so next year. This year is so VR is so fail. Take this Re/Code article with the attention grabbing headline of “VR Is Still Not Ready For Primetime”. In the article, the author (who I enjoy reading, btw) posits that VR is only ready for niche consumer adoption. The argument goes like this: VR in the 90s was a joke (true) because the tech was shit (true). VR in the teens is a joke because, while the tech is great, it is only for nerds for a host of reasons (content, cost...

NYT Film: The Uncanny Lover

Pretty crazy short clip from the New York Times on the efforts of “Real Doll” creator Matt McMullen to develop convincing robotic dolls with AI and animatronics (the Oculus makes an appearance, but I don’t really get why you need that if you have a real Real Doll).

Well, shit. There goes 2016

Rumor is that Dark Souls 3 will be announced at E3. Why? Why must you consume so much of my time? I have shit to do, Miyazaki!

“One thing I learned is that there are many different shapes of breasts”

Or so says one of Japan’s many 40+ virgins who recently attended a “Virgin Academia.” I like how these articles always focus on the lonely Japanese men, and their hopeless existence. What about the women? Yah – not as much sympathy shown there. They refer to them as “dried fish ladies.” Wow. Really, Japan?

Google Cardboard

I bought a Google Cardboard headset today. This one, to be specific. With the Google’s release of Cardboard for iOS(and the good reviews about it), I figured it was a good time to check it out. It’s hard to beat the price (considering Sony/Oculus will no doubt set us back multiple hundreds of dollars), butthere’s really not much you can do with it yet (well, maybe this, but I bought it for the articles).

Joking aside, I believe VR is going to bea paradigm shift to *all* visual entertainment m...

Mood altering headset/app can’t really work… can it?

I mean, this has got to be snake oil, right? Right? But the review claims it works. Huh.

Man Sells 300 SNES Jurassic Park Video Game Cartridges for $1,500

Why did he collect 300 cartridges of the same game? Because he wasn’t using his refrigerator for anything else, I guess. Who decided to purchase these? I have no idea. I can only assume they are trying to form a Jurassic Park SNES Cartridge Cartel. I really have nothing else to add. Click the link…

J, Keep Your Grubby Hands Off Our Water (But Send Us Your Grapes)

The Shat’s 30 billion kickstarterto pipe H2O from WA to CA hasn’t started yet, but my guess is that itwon’t get very far. This blog, however, makes a great point that maybe we should consider the opposing view: instead of sending the water to California, send the crops up to Washington.

Side note: This is an awesome blog if you are into PNW weather. (And really, who isn’t?)
