Mechanical Is The Vinyl Of Keyboards

And I’m all in. Seriously, who knew the world of mechanical keyboards was so complicated? Do I go with the Cherry Brown or Black switches? Or maybe I should eschew Cherry altogether and commit keyboard suicide with the cheaper Kaihls, I mean, some people actually like those things. One thing I know is that I need backlit caps. Maybe I should wait for the perfect keyboard to pop up on MD. I do know that I need tactile and n-roll. I’d really like to use it with my iPad pro, but if it’s USB that...

Dragon Fin Soup Free Today On PSPlus

I’m pretty excited for November’s PSPlus freebie*, Dragon Fin Soup. It’s a top down, tactical JRPG-ish, rouge-like** game. It looks pretty and is on the Vita (among a lot of other platforms, but the Vita seems like the perfect place to play this kind of a game). Check out the trailer and be sure to download it.

Oh, and I forgot the best part: the heroine is a “raging alcoholic bounty hunter” and the entire game takes place on a giant turtle flying through space. So, there’s that.

*Well, I su...

J Reviews “Lily C.A.T.”

I’ve been on a bit of a classic anime kick recently, and ran across this little gem of a film that I never saw back in the day. So please enjoy my review.

By the numbers:

1987 – Release date
3 – The number of films this rips the plot off from. I count “2001: a Space Odyssey,” “The Thing” and “Alien.” There may be more.
2 – The number of people who are on the spaceship under false pretenses
0 – Boolean value for whether this shit makes any sense or not.

Plot Summary:

A group of explorers leave...

The Vita Lives

Well, not really, but this article at Polygon is pretty good about how it influenced Sony’s successful PS4 (and beyond…).

4K UHD PS4 Release Imminent (Neener Neener. I was right.)

Well, hypothetically, I mean, it could be coming… someday, ruminated a PS exec recently.

It’s Official: Kojima leaves Konami

The dream is dead. Now Konami can finally focus on what’s really important: exercise equipment. Can’t wait to see how much money someone throws at Kojima. Obviously Sony and MS will go after him hard, but he’s always been a bit offbeat, so maybe he talks to the big N, or maybe he does his own thing (though I doubt that, he’ll need serious kaysh-money to make his next AAA Hollywood gaming blockbuster).

Reasons I like MGS

This IGN article sums it up nicely. I’ve never played a game as intricate as MGS. The devs are fans of their own game, and that’s cool.

A few of my favorites (but really, all of these are amazing):

47. There is an audio tape of a soldier struggling to go to the bathroom. Play it when Big Boss is in a portable toilet, and guards won’t investigate. Is this Metal Gear Solid 5’s inevitable Johnny Sasaki cameo?

57. If the soldier comes to investigate anyway and you’ve abandoned the box, they’ll re...

Now Josh Can Get His MGSV Fix

In the form of…… Pachinko!! Not as strange as it sounds because apparently there is some sort of secret in game pachinko that you can play. Still, it’s pretty much a cash grab by Konami, and a pretty small one at that. Why potentially dilute a brand with shit if the potential payout is tiny?

I Posit a PS4K in 2017

Here ye’, here ye’, I hereby posit that Sony will release a new version of the PS4, called the PS4K, which will be identical in features to the PS4, backward and forward compatible, and will include the ability to play 4k games and videos (with a faster proc inside). PS4 games will begin shipping with both PS4 and PS4K ability in one BD disc. So there. Discuss.

Side note; 4K TVs are becoming affordable and 4K content is becoming.

New 3DS faster than PS Vita! Or not.

A recent teardown of the Vita discovered that the CPU is actually an underclocked quad-core ARM Cortex A9 running at 333MHz. This has been a much discussed topic for years, so, uh, mystery solved I guess. In comparison, the new New 3DS doubled their cores (2 to 4) to match the Vita, and is rumored to run at a whopping 800MHz, so it blows away the Vita. So New 3DS is totally than Vita!!1!1! Or not, because according to Wikipedia, it’s still running at the same 268MHz clock speed, which would...
