Giving Up.

Nothing else matters.
You see, I lost my Dad. A man never sick a day in his life diagnosed with cancer in his lungs, kidney and liver. Terminal. Such an ugly word. He passed away 10 days after his diagnosis. He was only 65.
I guess this is just a time for me to reflect and have a bit of a chat about some things in the hope that some people will take something away from it.
I wanted to give up. My Dad was gone and I felt like I could never feel joy again, the grief so consuming, so numbing the world around me was insignificant in all it's insignificance. I was bitter at everyone and how normal their lives were, I craved for that normal again while I was busy hoping the world would hurt as much as I did. This was just one of the many, many fazes of grief. A grief so palpable you can't see beyond it.
Peoples love through the initial hardships carry you through, much like the adrenalin coursing through your body, but when the dust settles people stop asking if you're okay? And they go on with their daily, normal lives because it is what must be done, that's life. It doesn't make the silence and the aftermath of loss any easier, but it's just what happens.
This is a life lesson at it's most brutal; a loss of a parent is a life education. It changes you. I look at pictures leading up to Dad's diagnoses and I feel envious of that girl, of me and the smile, the smile that was bright a genuine because all was well in the world. I had my dad, life was 'normal'.
Now he is gone, and now I must learn to live without him. No longer will he ring me every night of my life and talk about America, or how funny Colbert was tonight, or asks me how my book was going. Now the evenings are so quiet and going back to my childhood home clean up my Dad's life is so heartbreaking.
Each day is different, some days I keep myself so busy I forget, and then of course I remember and it's like loosing him all over again. But there is one thing that drives me and that was his belief and pride in me and my work. About him wanting me to be happy and to keep going even though some days I don't want to get out of bed, those are the days I hear his voice cheering me on.
I remember one of the lasts hugs I gave to my dad before leaving him in the hospital, never before had I melted into the soft fabric of his t-shirt, feeling the warmth and fragility underneath me. I memorised the feeling, lingering there never wanting to leave. But like always I kept my tears at bay, put on a brave smile and told him I loved him. It wasn't until I walked down the long-long corridor would I be able to break down, cry before my heart burst.
More than anything the one thing that keeps me going is the memory of how brave my dad was, never a word of complaint or a why me thought. He was witty and strong and brave till the very end, never have I ever been so proud or in awe of someone. If I carry an ounce of my dad's incredible qualities I know I will be okay.
Now all I do, and everything from here on in is for you Dad. I will keep writing, keep living and keep believing knowing that you are watching over me. So in a time when I questioned if I would ever feel joy again, all I can bet on is that time will offer me the strength to find it again. I wont give in!

ANNOUNCEMENT: Writing and my Future.

I have been dreading and taking stock of things in my life, and in some instances life happens, it breaks your heart and there are times when all we have planned or focused on for the future changes with in a blink of an eye.
I wanted to explain my recent absence in the writing world and make an announcement of the things that I can control, even if involves making tough decisions.
***
It's with a heavy heart that I announce Forever Summer will not be released on the scheduled release date of July 14th.I have given this much thought but due to a family illness my main focus must be with my family during this difficult time. I am hopeful that with time I will announce an alternative release date for 2014, I will of course keep you all up to date and ask that you please support and respect this delay during what has been a very emotional time.
I would like to thank Apple and Smashwords who have been extremely supportive of a decision I did not take lightly. Honestly, it's breaking my heart. I'm sorry guys, I promise it will be worth the wait, but as I have nothing to give at this stage I have to remember, and as a dear friend wisely said, readers will forgive a delay, but they will not forgive a disappointing story. Please let it be known this is not forever it is merely a reschedule to an alternative time where I can give my all.Much love and thanks to the support and kindness I have received these past few weeks, it means more to me than you can ever know.

*Pre orders are still available for readers to secure a copy for the new release date TBA later in the year.

RINGER is LIVE.

Look who just arrived, and early! Guess you can't keep an Onslow Boy waiting.

They say it’s the quiet ones you have to worry about, and she was quiet, very quiet – when she wasn’t busy despising me with a burning passion.

Ringo ‘Ringer’ James has a no-strings-attached policy.Love them, leave them, and remain the eternal bachelor. After a summer in which every one of his mates has succumbed to settling down, or so it seemed, Ringer is on the lookout for a quick exit. Having had enough of the stomach-turning love fest witnessed over the past three months, Ringer jumps at the opportunity to help out his mate, Max, by heading to Max’s dad’s property for a working holiday. It’s just what he’s looking for. A remote, dusty homestead in Ballan, with only hard work, a cold beer and a comfy bed to worry about – no women.
Until Miranda Henry.

The privately educated daughter of his boss has returned home from overseas and things are about to get very complicated, very fast. As summer draws to its end, Ringer is about to learn that sometimes attraction defies all logic, and that there really is such a thing as ‘enemies with benefits’.

Cover Reveal RINGER

Today is the day that I finally reveal Ringer's beautiful cover! (Thanks to the amazingly talented Keary Taylor)    They say it’s the quiet ones you have to worry about, and she was quiet, very quiet—when she wasn’t busy despising me with a burning passion.   Ringo ‘Ringer’ James has a no-strings-attached policy. Love them, leave them, and remain the eternal bachelor.

As summer draws to its end, Ringer is about to learn that sometimes attraction defies all logic, and that there really is such a thing as ‘enemies with benefits.’
***  Having planned this year out rather meticulously (as ya do) I was well on my way to have a new series set for a May release, but then of course RINGER happened.  One of the Onslow Boy favourites was demanding his time in the spotlight, so who was I to say no? Further more I knew the fans would be delighted and judging by the reaction thus far, I think it was the absolute right move to take.  Ringer needs to have his story told. Ringer's story is a Novella, Book 3.5 in the Summer Series and takes placed a month or so after That One Summer. As with each book it can be read as a stand alone but of course the recommendation is to start from the beginning: The Boys of Summer An Endless SummerThat One Summer While it's not essential you will form a deeper understanding with the characters of the Summer Series. Ringer will also be told in a way so there are no potential spoilers of what has gone before, if new readers pick up Ringer without having read the other books, I would like it to still be a sense of discovery if they are compelled to start the series from the beginning. Cover Reveal aside, another exciting option is you can now pre order your very own copy of Ringer through iBookstore, if you pre order through iBookstore you are guaranteed to receive it 2 weeks before the actual release date of April 2nd. Pre order now and you can receive your copy of Ringer March 18th   >>>>> PRE ORDER HERE! <<<<<

November 6, 2013

Don't Forget to Breathe.

What am I doing? No, really I shouldn't be blogging there is WAY too much to do.

I do have to let you  know what is going on in Camp Duggan though,  it has been a while since I have written an informative blog post. So as I wait for my new iPhone5S software to do it's thang, I thought now is the perfect time to give you a bit of an update myself. (And it will probably take quicker than the download - COME ON!!!"
So what's going on C.J?
Well aside from THAT ONE SUMMER hitting the shelves on December 17th <<<<<True story!
I may have mentioned that soon as TOS went live I was going to have the rest of the December off? Ah, yeah well not so much, in fact not at all. A few new projects have crept up that have me working solidly into the new year.
November - Finish TOS edits/proofreading for formatters then ARCS baby!
Sign up here if you would like to review before release date:
ARC SIGN UPS!
Then the aim is to write 40k in November for new project, so draft will be ready for New Year.
November and December will see me also working on an exciting new WIP that I will aim to bring into the New Year and publish early 2014.
January sees me pen the much anticipated Romantic New Adult Stand alone
  'Someone Like You'
Release TBA 2014.
My thoughts are to work solidly for the next 3 months in order to get ahead for the next publication. It's going to be a massive challenge, especially since these 2 new WIP are quite different to the Summer Series and I am very excited about them.
So while I may not be on the forefront of social media over the coming weeks, at least you will know that YES Book Three in the Summer Series is coming December 17th and while you are all busy swooning over Chris and Tammy, I will be working behind the velvet curtain like a woman possessed.
Wish me luck! (Because I am going to need it)
*Checks software download* 23 minutes remaining??? SERIOUSLY????
