Fake Friday on Teresa Morgan’s blog

Okay, so it’s only Tuesday, but over on Teresa Morgan’s blog it’s Fake Friday.

She asked me some searching questions, one of which required choosing between Chocolate and Ice Cream. A tough choice.

Inheritance Books: Anne Harvey

This weeks’ Inheritance Books are from Anne Harvey.

Hi Anne, welcome to Inheritance Books, please, tell us a bit about yourself.

20141230_152527My name is Anne Harvey and, since taking early retirement, I’ve had a second career as a writer writing family and social history articles for various national magazines. Just recently, I’ve self-published my debut novel A Suitable Young Man on Kindle and Createspace and am delighted to report steady sales.

Which book have you inherited from a generation above? Why is...

Goodreads Book reviews – An Irish Promise by Isabella Connor

An Irish PromiseAn Irish Promise by Isabella Connor

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved Isabella Connor’s first book (Beneath an Irish Sky) so much that I went around raving about it to anyone who’d listen for weeks afterwards. So when I spotted An Irish Promise on special offer, I had to snap it up.

The story revolves around Rachel’s desire to take revenge on a group of school bullies. The story explores the effects of the bullying on the victims, but also on the bullies themselves, especially those who were held...

Goodreads Book Review: Malaika by Van Heerling

MalaikaMalaika by Van Heerling

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a lovely little story – set in the Serengeti, it follows the unlikely, but deeply spiritual friendship between a man and a lion. It’s an enchanting and atmospheric story. It’s a novella, so it took me a bit over an hour to read. Well worth it.

Inheritance Books – Charlotte Hains

This week’s Inheritance Books are are from Charlotte Hains.

Hi Charlotte, welcome to Inheritance Books. Please, tell us a bit about yourself.

I left the UK for France after deciding I needed a change, taking on the huge project of renovating a house. In the UK my life consisted of getting up, going to work, coming home, going to bed, and just surviving. I now enjoy French life within the community of the village in which I live, and feel privileged to be part of it. My French neighbours are fan...

Goodreads Book Review: And Then That Happened by Liam Livings

And Then That HappenedAnd Then That Happened by Liam Livings

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

And Then That Happened follows the hero Dominic as he realises that he’s fallen out of love with his husband and how he cautiously, oh so cautiously, falls in love with someone else. The end of one relationship overlaps with the blossoming of the other, but Dominic isn’t the sort of guy who’d cheat on his current partner, not physically anyway, so his infidelity remains emotional.

I loved Dominic. The description of his depression, h...

Rhoda Baxter:

Have you always wanted to write a book? I’m over at the A Woman’s Wisdom blog talking about how to find the time to write.

Are you one of those people who would love to write a book, but never got around to doing it? Do you say ‘I’d love to write a book one day, but I don’t have the time’? I work four days a week and I have two small children. If I can find the time to write novels, so can you.

First, let’s break down the task. Most novels are...

Tell us about yourself

Hi, I’m Rhoda. I write romantic comedy with a touch of British cynicism. When I was young, I wanted to be at least 5ft tall, an astronaut or a writer. I failed at the first two, so it’s just as well that Choc Lit publish my...

Goodreads Book Review: The Soft Whispter of Dreams by Christina Courteney

The Soft Whisper of DreamsThe Soft Whisper of Dreams by Christina Courtenay

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I didn’t know what to expect from The Soft Whisper of Dreams. I hadn’t read the first book in the series, so I was a little nervous about jumping right in at book two. I need not have worried – this book stands alone and there isn’t any of the telltale extraneous detail that sometimes creeps in when characters walk on from another book.

Melanie has a recurring dream that is laced with a sense of danger. This story is all a...
