Today we’re to find out what makes Choc Lit author Rhoda Baxter tick.

Hi Rhoda, and welcome to one of the comfiest sofas in the entire universe. Jane Lovering left a few Hob Nob crumbs but I think we’ve got rid of most of them now.

I see she’s left some chocolate stains too. I’ll just sit here on the other side of the sofa…

Put your feet up, grab a scone or a bit of cake and I’ll pour the coffee.

Ooh, cake please. That looks lovely. Yum. I’ll try not to get cru...

Inheritance Books: Laura E James

This week’s Inheritance Books are from fellow ChocLiteer Laura E James. If you haven’t read any of Laura’s books before, I’d say they are immersive and harrowing romances – a bit like Jodi Picoult, but British. I’m a fan.

Goodreads Book Review: Flight to Coorah Creek by Janet Gover

Flight to Coorah CreekFlight to Coorah Creek by Janet Gover

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I picked up this book because I’ve met Janet and she’s a good laugh. Also, I enjoyed her previous book Bring Me Sunshine (with the penguins) very much. I’m glad I did, because I read this book in a day. When I wasn’t reading, I kept thinking about it. The characters were vivid and interesting.

Jess was hurting and carrying around a load of guilt. Adam was wonderful – everything a Flying Doctor should be! The only things I know about t...

Torso Thursdays – taking the mickey

Torso Thursday

A few weeks ago, @smaddenlife and I got into a row argument discussion about the recent trend towards pictures of naked male torsos on posters, book covers, Facebook posts etc.

My view is that it’s all gratuitous and unnecessary. If it’s unacceptable for a nude female torso to be displayed like that, then it should be unacceptable for a male torso too. No need to point out about women having breasts. I’ve spotted that one. The taboo of displaying breasts is a social one (there ar...

It’s here! It’s here! Doctor January is out in paperback!

I’m ridiculously excited that my first ever print book is out now!

Doctor January by Rhoda Baxter

It looks like this, but in 3D

It’s published by the fabulous Choc Lit. You can buy it on Amazon and other ebook retailers. Also you can buy it from proper real life bookshops. To test this theory (’cause I’m not sure I totally, 100% believed it was possible), I asked the Waterstones at the Uni where I work if they’ll stock it. They said yes. I shall be going by tomorrow to check!

I’m planning on eating lots of celebratory chocola...

Inheritance Books: Julie Maxwell

This week’s Inheritance Books come from writer and academic Julie Maxwell.

Hello Julie, welcome to Inheritance Books. Please, tell us a bit about yourself.Julie Maxwell[1]

I learned to read and write when I was very young. Ever since I’ve been contriving ways to avoid doing anything else. One of my earliest memories is of being scolded for hogging the toilet (there was only one in the house) because I was actually sitting there reading a book. Maybe it was The Billy Goats Gruff, which I loved so much I wanted...
