The Suspects had me gripped from the first page. It is well written, and weaves a tale of intrigue and suspense throughout. I loved that it is set in Bristol as I lived there for over twenty-years and recognise many of the places mentioned. I must ha ...more

What a beautiful story! Such an unusual concept and characters you wish lived on your street. I loved May, aged one-hundred-and-ten, but sprightly as a spring lamb. The reason she's so young at heart will knock your socks off and I wish...no, I won't ...more

I loved this story as it lulls you into a false sense of security. I half guessed at the reasoning behind the murder, but wasn't completely sure until the last few pages. I love the writing style and colourful use of metaphor. And the main character ...more

“Being different was good, I liked it and I wouldn't change myself for anyone. Not ever.”
Amanda James, The Calico Cat

“Most people actively try to bury their differences and become like everyone else for fear of ridicule. They want to belong. They want to 'fit in'. They don't like to be singled out, have their differences scrutinised, put on microscope slides or in Petri dishes and poked by society. I on the other hand, rejoice in it. I don't want to belong if it means having to wrestle your individuality into a small space, paint it grey and make it... normal.”
Amanda James, The Calico Cat

“I love social network sites, and am very active, in fact I am on there a bit too much! But writing is a solitary affair and it's good to reward yourself with a chat now and again - that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I love being in touch with readers and it really gives me a boost when I get a good review or a nice comment. It means so much to hear that people are enjoying my work, that's what it's all about in the end, isn't it”
