An update! Finally!

I'm writing from the library this afternoon. The semester at WGU has ended and I'm on a bit of a break before I dive headlong into the next and final chapter of my MS:ISA degree. I'm trying to take this time away from my studies to reflect on the things that are important to me and where I would like to go once I'm through. Professionally speaking, I've done rather well these past years. I've had some rough spots but I never found myself without a job, and that should mean a lot in this econo...

Writing for Helium
Helium.com is one of many article writing websites that offer social networking and revenue opportunities for authors on the web. Income is generated by submitting successful articles and maintaining an article rating score by reviewing other articles in the Helium site community.
The benefits for unestablished authors come in the form of writing for a platform that generates internal and external traffic rather than attempting to build an audience from nothing. The initial impression for a co...

Every Step of the Way
Days like today make me wonder why I spend so much time and energy worrying about finishing my master’s degree. I’m currently studying for the first part of the CCNA certification, one that won’t foreseeably help me in my current career path. The time investment on top of working full time and raising a family seems to be nothing short of a blatant diversion from my goal of writing more. Still, I’m almost there. This is the home stretch. If I can manage to complete all 11 units before the end...

Repeat Words: The Spawn of Satan
Personally, I can't stand them. But even so, from time to time I find myself slipping into the darkness that awaits when I write when I'm exceedingly tired or somewhat less focused. During these moments of weakness they sneak into my writing like thieves, the bouncer is asleep at his post. The uninvited guests are helping themselves to the champagne. Who are these miscreants? These manglers of hospitality? Repeat words, the most unholy of unholies, the most evil of evils. Well, at least in my...

The Ties that Bind Us
One of the biggest things for me while writing blogs is to go back and check the statistics for traffic views, sourse locations, that sort of thing. Maybe you came here to learn a little something about me, or you were drawn from a related search that I somehow ranked high on. However it was that you came to my doorstep, it is here that you have come. And so, please allow me to welcome you into my blog.

Niche Worthy?
Hello world.
It's been a while since I last posted. I've been pretty busy with work and school lately, so I haven't had a whole lot of time to write on any front. My fiction work has taken a pause to study for my first test of the CCNA, the ICND1. I'm on my final semester at Western Governors University and my Masters should be complete by the end of the year if I can finish everything on time.

Thoughts on a Friday Evening
I've been pretty busy lately and haven't made much time to write. That goes for my blogging efforts as well as my fiction writing. Even though I joined a writing group, I've been lagging behind on my word count. Having other writers read your work and offer feedback can be rough sometimes. That probably goes double for any feedback I might give as well. It's a funny thing too. I mean, sure, having the literary world's acceptance would be great, but most of us want to write for readers. While...

I Am Writer
I have been working on my Young Adult Work-in-Progress as I've been able to this weekend. Tara says I've done a good job at it, but I always start feeling so insecure about my writing. I think I have the capability of being a good writer. I just wonder sometimes. The desire to write is still there but I'm fumbling for words and stumbling over phrases and cliches. I go back and reread what I've types and find innumerable silly misspellings and examples of incorrect word usage. I know better, b...
