COVER REVEAL - 1303 THE DRAGON SLAYER
Today, as well as continuing her blog tour, Christine Rains is revealing her the cover of her third book in the 13th Floor Series - The Dragon Slayer!
On the rooftop of neighboring building, dragonslayer Xanthus Ehrensvard fires at his target, Governor Whittaker. How he missed the shot, he doesn't know, but fleeing the scene, he picks up an unwanted passenger. Gorgeous reporter Lois King saw Xan's face, and she believes it's the story to make her career. Except he can't let her walk away knowing what he looks like. Xan has to show her the Governor is a bigger threat to the world than he is.
Xan knows dragons never went extinct. They evolved with human society, taking on mortal forms, and slithered their way into positions of great influence and power, just like the Governor. But it's no easy chore proving to someone that dragons still exist, and even more so, they're disguised as famous people. Xan must convince Lois or find another way to silence her. An option, as he gets to know her, he likes less and less.
After all, dragonslayers are no longer celebrated heroes but outlaws. Just as the dragons wish it. But this outlaw must make a plan to slay the dragon or risk its retribution.

EXPRESS YOURSELF
Hosts - Jackie @ Bouquet of BooksDanni @ Entertaining Interests
This week we have been asked to give up titles of writing books which you would recommend to fellow writers' and if not a writer, then what books would you recommend to fellow readers.
Well, as I work all day long helping students at high school learn how to write correctly, the last thing I would like to read is a book giving tips on how to write. Not something I would choose to be entertained with, so I have no titles to share with you, except maybe High School English books and I am sure you don't want any of those, sorry!
But I will let you know that I learn by reading lots of books in different genres and various authors at different levels in their career. I take from them what I find in the way they write, how they express themselves and where and how, they describe their characters and story settings. Working out what suits me and my writing. I also make note of what I don't like and what I find boring in a book, ensuring I don't fall into the same traps in my writing.
Of course the more you write, the more proficient you become.

BLURB:
Having been cooped up in her apartment for months, Stefanie Porter didn't think one run in the woods would matter. The wolf within her needed to stretch her legs, but obviously she didn't have very good instincts. Her former pack found her, and they almost catch her too, but a mysterious lone wolf jumps in to help Stefanie escape.
The pack is driven by their cruel Alpha, Wyatt. He refuses to give Stefanie her freedom even after she lost the challenge to lead them and left their territory. She can hide in her apartment, or the lone wolf can teach her some of his unusual urban survival tricks. James Roberts might be a bit geeky, but he's smart and looks hot when the argyle sweater comes off. He has a ridiculous ambition to become a superhero, and it might be admirable if Wyatt couldn't rip him limb from limb.
With the pack scouring the city for her, Stefanie must convince James to teach her, or fight not only for her life, but his as well.
MY TEASER:
A bend took them out of sight. Stefanie drew closer to the other wolf. Even with her nose a foot from his haunches, his scent was remarkably muted. The only things she could tell were that he was a male and not an Alpha. She huffed at the lack of information.

BLOG TOUR FOR 1302 BY CHRISTINE RAINS
TODAY I AM ALSO POSTING FOR A FRIEND OF MINE'S BLOG TOUR (Christine Rains), FOR THE SECOND BOOK IN HER NEW SERIES - 1302 THE ALPHA!
BLURB
One run in the woods wouldn't matter, or so thinks werewolf Stefanie Porter. Being cooped up in her apartment for months must have messed up her instincts, because her former pack almost catches her until a mysterious lone wolf jumps in to help Stefanie escape.
The cruel Alpha Wyatt not only stole her pack but refuses to give Stefanie her freedom. She can't hide in her apartment any longer or it will drive her crazy. She puts her trust in the lone wolf who can teach her some of his unusual urban survival tricks. James Roberts might be a bit geeky, but he's smart and looks hot when the argyle sweater comes off. His ridiculous ambition to become a superhero might be admirable if Wyatt couldn't rip him limb from limb.
With the pack scouring the city for her, Stefanie must convince James to teach her and control her own Alpha nature, or fight not only for her life, but his as well.Author Bio

And here is an excerpt from 1302 The Alpha
Close to an hour went by, and she found herself on the second floor running her fingers along the spines of used books. Subjects she'd never read like calculus and others she'd love to read like history and mythology. “Need help finding anything?” Stefanie shook her head before he even finished speaking. “No, thanks.” She froze, the voice finally registering. It wasn't one she'd ever heard before, but somehow it seemed familiar. She turned slowly as if rotating on a pedestal. The young man who had asked the question wasn't an employee. No tacky vest over a shirt with the collar up. He stood about three inches taller than her five foot seven and had a lean skateboarder's body. Sneakers and jeans and a fitted argyle sweater. Black rimmed glasses and dark brown hair that was styled to look mussed. Pretty damn good-looking if you were into that whole hipster thing. Argyle. Really? In one hand, with his index finger holding his place, he held a comic book. Some boys just never grew up. “Are you sure?” His smile was teasing, but it twitched. His muscles were tense, not matching his relaxed stance. Hearing his voice again, Stefanie cocked her head to the side and breathed in deeply. A hint of incense, Old Spice deodorant, fresh mint as if he'd just popped one into his mouth before speaking to her, and under it, the scent of male. More of a male than he looked with that sweater. A second breath and she caught it. The woods. But she couldn't smell wolf. That wasn't right. Her instincts were never wrong. Stefanie stepped closer, nose near his neck. He started to move back, but she snatched his shirt. “Don't move.” “Um, okay.” He stood still as she sniffed him and then cleared his throat. “May I ask your name before you decide to get any friendlier?” Nothing. Absolutely nothing, but it was the wolf that had helped her. She tugged him farther back into the stacks where an overhead light had fizzled out. Only then did she let him go. “How are you doing it?” “What?” He blinked, and then tried another smile on her. “You mean how did I just get a gorgeous woman to pull me into a dark corner to be alone?” “I don't play games, wolf.” Stefanie put her hands on her hips. Bigger wolves had cowered before her. Argyle would answer her questions whether he wanted to or not. If she could learn his trick, the pack would never find her. “Why can't I get your scent? Even last night, it was barely there.” He wet his lips and adjusted his glasses. Looking down, he fingered the corner of his book for about ten seconds before lifting his head again. “You're much more forward than I'd have thought. I figured we'd talk a bit, maybe introduce ourselves, have a cup of coffee before we jumped into this.” “We know who we are, and coffee only makes me aggressive. Tell me how you're doing it.” “Aggressive?” He raised his brows and almost grinned, but she scowled at him and chased it away. “I'm James, by the way. And you, with the sharp nose, may I ask your name?” “No.” Stefanie snapped. “So Jimmy, are you going to tell me or do I have to force you into submission?”

RE-INTRODUCE MYSELF BLOG HOP - JANUARY 28
Re-Introduce Myself Blogfest January 28th: (Brought to you by Mark Koopmans, Elise Fallson, and Stephen Tremp and myself).
Here are a few words by Stephen Tremp,
filling you in about this Blog Hop:
2012 was an amazing year as so many new authors, writers, poets, musicians, and people with something to share such as recipes and movie reviews joined the blogging community. We visit other blogger’s sites and they visit us. But many new bloggers and the more established ones often don't really know much about each other. So mark January 28th on your calendar for an opportunity to re-introduce ourselves to the ever-expanding blogging community. Simply take a moment and tell us something interesting about yourself. Anything. It can be about writing. Or blogging. Or a hidden talent. Perhaps you’re in the Witness Protection Program. Feel free to keep your post short. This is meant to be a quick and fun Blogfest. I’m keeping mine under 100 words as I have other stuff to post that day. Stephen Tremp You can sign up for the hop using linky tools at Stephen Tremp's website
Also a reminder about Writers4Writers (W4WS) W4WS will resume in February and take place every third Monday of each month. Next up we spotlight writers Gwen Gardner, YA Fiction Author and Melissa Bradley from Melissa’s Imaginarium. If you’re not familiar with W4Ws, can check out the Writers4Writers Page.

Decision Maker (Anniversary of the Veil #2) byVanna SmytheDecision Maker (Anniversary of the Veil, Book Two) is the second volume in the Anniversary of the Veil fantasy series. It concludes the story started in Protector(Anniversary of the Veil, Book One), but can also be considered a standalone book that you can read at any time. Though it is enhanced by both Book One and the upcoming Book Three.
Kae, a warrior Protector, has followed Princess Issa across the Veil separating two worlds. They were told Issa will be a key player at the Anniversary of the Veil, but have been mislead! Kae will have to make a terrible choice when the Anniversary finally comes. He is the Decision Maker and will have to play a part in a ceremony that will join Issa's Life Force with her Other Half - but in so doing, it could leave her senseless or worse, dead.
As the King fights to find his daughter, as the Priesthood is falling apart; Kae has to decide if he will kidnap the Princess to stop her Joining and force her into a life of unhappiness, or if he will allow her to Join and thereby leave her a mere shell of herself. Meanwhile friends and foes alike are showing only half-truths to both Kae and Issa. They must make the most important decision of a lifetime without enough knowledge. How can they know it will be the right one?
MY CHOSEN TEASER:
The love he felt for Issa, the relentless pull to be near her always, was as painful as it was joyous. It had grown stronger since they crossed the Veil. No need to banish his love for Issa behind the fog he kept wrapped thickly around his own inner mind. They were far away from the Priests' Palace. Kae was no longer a Protector. He could allow himself to feel love for Issa now.

Solomon’s Compass is her second novel, a blend of mystery, suspense, and romance she calls Crime Fiction with a Kiss – always at least one crime; always a love story. A missing belt—her uncle’s prized possession. The lure of buried treasure. And a sexy former SEAL who makes U.S. Coast Guard Commander Taylor Campbell crazy. What more could any woman want. Right?
Taylor is on a quest to unearth her uncle’s buried treasure—a journey so far out of the realm of her real life she can barely fathom it. There’s one other minor glitch. Taylor's certain the buried treasure was all in Uncle Randy's dementia-riddled mind. Now he’s dead.
All the same, Taylor is in Rock Harbor, Texas, to settle her uncle's estate, including following his directions to the treasure—even if doing so means trespassing. When someone tries to kill her, Taylor's quest becomes personal. She tosses Randy's official cause of death—Drowning Due to Accident—out the window and starts looking at his Rock Harbor acquaintances. Could Randy's treasure be real?
Jake Solomon is in Rock Harbor under false pretenses. He loathes the charade, but if he doesn't follow the plan, his dad will make Jake's SEAL training feel like a day on the monkey bars in kindergarten.
The plan is to protect Taylor Campbell from the fate that befell her uncle and the other members of a tight circle of Coast Guardsmen called the Compass Points who served together on Point boats in Vietnam.
Due to the danger involved, Jake’s dad has ordered him not to become involved with Taylor. Disobeying his father was Jake’s first mistake.
Taylor is attracted to Jake as well, but she refuses to wait for Jake to locate the killer when she knows her plan will force her uncle’s murderer into action.
But the killer's actions are just what Jake is afraid of.

2nd place: a banner/icon/avatar designed by Darren Hansen.
1st place: a blog background designed by Lisa Campbell ($50 value).
The best Runner Up will receive a rare box of Hostess cupcakes!
(Yes, it's real. No, it hasn't expired yet)As a followup prize, my inbox will be open to query critics to anyone who wants one (all day, Friday the 21st). This is a great opportunity to whip your NaNoWriMo query into shape before agencies open their doors for submissions after the holidays (or before the end of the world, whichever happens first), so please, take advantage. Those agents will greatly appreciate it. Details to come on the 21st.David, I am so sorry I posted this so late, please except my apologies. I have been so very busy dealing with life and organizing Christmas that I just did not get to write the outstanding entry I was intending to write. So I am writing this here and now!
I would absolutely love to have a blog built to suit my writing style, it would be awesome!
I am a Paranormal Romance writer who delves in vampires and would be very excited to have an avatar with this in mind, but possibly a sexy female version.
My dream blog would have a similar concept, but as the books I have written are based in other dimensions with blue and pink moons and red trees, rose coloured skies and purple vegetation, it would be great to have something awesome created like this for the background.
I would love to have a winged horse (Pegasus), included in the blog header, ridden by a vampire, as this is an element included in my stories. I think that I would keep the blog header script the same as it is now: C.M. Brown Paranormal, Romance Writer!
Thanks so much for sending me a reminder to post this entry, but I understand if it is too late to be part of the draw, maybe next time.
Carolyn
