EXPRESS YOURSELF

This week Jackie and Dani have askedWhat movies do you watch over and over that you can practically quote word for word?
[image error]  The Criminologist: I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey. The Criminologist: And crawling, on the planet's face, some insects, called the human race. Lost in time, and lost in space... and meaning.
Eddie: Hot patootie, bless my soul! I really love that rock n' roll!

[image error]  Red Queen: You're all going to die down here. Red Queen: Just one bite, one scratch from these creatures is sufficient. And then, you become one of them.

Mark of the Princess (The Kingdom Chronicles, #1) Mark of the Princess (The Kingdom Chronicles #1) byB.C. Morin

BLURB:

The feisty and determined faerie Princess Alannah is many things, but she never thought she would be the key to her people’s destruction.

Kidnapped for a power she does not yet possess, Alannah finds herself in the clutches of the most malevolent sorcerer of her time. Maligo. Alannah escapes her prison with help from the handsome and stalwart warrior faerie, Brennus.

Now she must cross mountains and forests fraught with rogue faeries, vicious Fae-hating trolls, dangerous shape-shifters, and more to reach the only ones that can help her control her incoming powers. The Elder Faeries.

With Brennus by her side, Alannah is determined to reach the Elder Faeries and save her people. Maligo is just as determined she never makes it that far.

MY TEASER:
Alannah stood and walked to the doors of her cell. She looked to the right and left of the hallway and saw no one. She tried to feel the magic that her mother told her about, closing her eyes and trying to extend her emotions and feelings, but felt nothing. None of the life she felt when she was in Meira was felt here. This place was dead, the cold stone walls offered no life at all.

B.C.. Mark of the Princess (Kindle Locations 3616-3617). B.C. Morin.

RE-INTRODUCE MYSELF BLOGFEST

[image error] The Re-Introduce  Myself Blogfest is brought to you by Mark Koopmans,  Elise Fallson, Stephen Tremp, and myself).
Actually, I do not think I have actually introduced myself officially a first time, so here it is.
Hi, I am Carolyn and welcome to my blog!
I am pursuing the avenue of being a writer, but I have worked in many trades prior to this, Bank Officer (Teller, Ledger Supervisor, Proof Supervisor) / Waitress / Bar Assistant / Restaurant, Bar Manager / Data Entry Operator / Receptionist  / HR Officer /  Education Assistant.
Excelling at Microsoft Excel and having a photographic memory help me to be quite organized in all areas of my life.
I have now self-published two books: He Came For Me and He Came For Mine, both from the same series, The Protectors.  Now here's a little secret - He Came For Me was the very first novel I have ever attempted to write!
In my personal life, I am happily married (21 years) and have two children. One boy and a girl, who are both quite talented, artistically. My favourite past times are walking along the beach and swimming. I also enjoy reading, of course writing, playing video games (Final Fantasy, Residental Evil, Diablo, The Sims and lots more), camping and going to music festivals.
Well, I hope you will join in and share a couple of secrets with us! Maybe you could share the answers to some of these questions - What industries have you worked in? What are your interests? Do you enjoy similar past times as myself?
 Thanks for participating,
Carolyn

TODAY IS AUSTRALIA DAY, BUT I AM ALSO HOSTING VANNA SMYTHE

Well, today is Australia Day!  Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie, Oy, Oy, Oy! It is wet in South East Queensland, due to a severe rain depression passing over us, left over from a recent cyclone. This means that for 3years running, community events have been cancelled due to inclement weather!Oh well, we still enjoyed ourselves and have a three day long weekend to boot!Today, I am also hosting a new blogger friend and a fellow author involved in The Blog Tour Exchange....Vanna Smythe Will Love Restore the Natural Balance of Things?
The fantasy series Anniversary of the Veil is based on two things: twin souls and the energy of love.  The belief in twin souls, that is a soul mate in the form of your one true love, existing somewhere in the world and pulling you towards them relentlessly and ceaselessly is the underlying theme of Protector, and its sequel, Decision Maker. Only, in this world that I created the energy released when two twin souls find each other is used for purposes that are not altogether enjoyable for the pair.
In my world, for centuries Joinings of such strong love, and the energy they release, have been used to build bridges and tall buildings, stem the flow of rivers, even change the duration and force of seasons. One thousand years ago, energy from one such pair was used to separate the world in half by a barrier only a select few can cross. On one side of this barrier, or Veil as it is called, they have continued with the forced Joinings, while on the other side the practice was eradicated. This was achieved mainly through the means of keeping the people ignorant, and under the complete control of the Priesthood. The priests rule the realm from the shadows. Among other things, they also decide who can marry whom, so as to prevent any natural Joinings of love from occurring.
Protector takes place at a time when the fate of this barrier must be judged. The decision of whether the Veil should continue to stand, or if it is time to let the world be whole again must now be made.
Princess Issiyanna is one of a pair, called to her other half, her twin soul. She is ignorant of her true purpose, steered to go along and find her love, not knowing that a Joining waits at the end of her journey. Unbeknown to her, she is loved from a distance by Protector Kiyarran, a soldier assigned as her bodyguard and the one whose role, whose decision, could decide the fate of all.
How long can a world where something as natural as the energy of love is twisted and used for artificial purposes exist? Will love prevail and restore the natural balance of things? What price must be paid? Answers to all these questions, and more wait at the end of the  Decision Maker (Anniversary of the Veil, Book 2).

You don't want to ruin the book for others!
Cassafire byAlex J. Cavanaugh    Cassafire From the Amazon best-selling author - CassaStar was just the beginning The Vindicarn War is a distant memory and Byron 's days of piloting Cosbolt fighters are over. He has kept the promise he made to his fallen mentor and friend - to probe space on an exploration vessel. Shuttle work is dull, but it 's a free and solitary existence. The senior officer is content with his life aboard the Rennather. The detection of alien ruins sends the exploration ship to the distant planet of Tgren. If their scientists can decipher the language, they can unlock the secrets of this device. Is it a key to the Tgren 's civilization or a weapon of unimaginable power? Tensions mount as their new allies are suspicious of the Cassan 's technology and strange mental abilities. To complicate matters, the Tgrens are showing signs of mental powers themselves; the strongest of which belongs to a pilot named Athee, a woman whose skills rival Byron 's unique abilities. Forced to train her mind and further develop her flying aptitude, he finds his patience strained. Add a reluctant friendship with a young scientist, and he feels invaded on every level. All Byron wanted was his privacy. TEASER: He met her eyes, his expression reluctant. Athee funneled her energy into persuading Byron to dance with her tonight. He was aware of her manipulative powers and was likely to balk at her efforts. Athee had learned subtlety, though. She could mask her mental persuasions and move the wills of others without detection. In his exhausted state, Byron’s mind was no match for hers. “All right, one dance,” he declared, his eyes narrowing. “I refuse to make a fool of myself, though.” “Would I allow you to look foolish?” Athee exited the craft with an extra spring in her step. Persuading him to dance with her was a small victory. Tonight, she planned to accomplish even more.

HOSTING - GWEN GARDNER

Friend or Foe?

Murder victim Bart Bagley is not content to merely roll over in his grave. He wants his murderer caught and he wants teenage ghost whisperer, Indigo Eady, to help him.
It becomes obvious that Bart’s temper led to more than one disagreement, but is it enough to want him dead? With nothing but a cold trail and a hot list of “friendly” suspects, Indigo and her friends race to find the killer before they become the next victims.Indigo Eady
Indigo Eady is not clumsy. At least, that’s what she keeps telling everyone. Can she help that the overactive spirit community of Sabrina Shores causes her psychic abilities to short-circuit? It’s unfortunate that her cute new friend Badger is often on the receiving end of her mishaps. At times, she is positively hazardous to his health. Even so, sparks start to fly in more than one direction…

Today I welcome Gwen Gardner to my site, lets wish her a warm welcome as she talks about ghosts and her newly released book 'Givin' Up The Ghost'!

So without further ado, lets give it up for Gwen....

Thanks for inviting me to your blog today, Carolyn!
Who wants to talk about ghosts? I do!
Who hasn’t thought about the afterlife? Who hasn’t questioned what happens when our bodies quit this life? Is there an afterlife? Is there a heaven? Is there a hell? Do we live as spirits or angels? Or do we simply vanish into nonexistence? These questions have haunted mankind since the beginning.
Seriously, folks – who isn’t curious?
So - what is a ghost? The disembodied spirit, soul or apparition of a dead person. The belief is that they can’t move on to the next level, or afterlife, until they settle their earthly business here.
Ghosts – and their business – is some pretty intriguing stuff.
My interest in the paranormal started as a kid, with Casperthe friendly ghost. And then his uncles (the ghostly trio) came along and gave ghosthood a bit of an edge. Yes, I was a brave little soul. But I’ll tell you right now, whether it’s Casper or The Ghostly Trio, this is my top speed.
As much as I’m intrigued, I’m a bit fat chicken. Sure, I’d like to see a ghost in the light of day. I’m not scared in the light of day. Give me some holy water or a vacuum and I’ll face a ghost head-on. That’s right, bring on Fatso, Stinky and Stretch. But when nighttime comes along and with it the things that go bump in the night…not on your life! I don’t want to be surprised. I don’t want to see anybody, living or dead, standing, kneeling or hovering at the end of my bed in the middle of the night. Seriously. I’d just die…or wet myself at the very least.
So you can see that I’m torn. On one hand, a ghost and all it implies about what we don’tknow is intriguing. On the other hand - dead people ought to just stay dead and not go around scaring the life out of, er, livepeople.
The notion of ghosts is kind of fun but kind of scary at the same time. Like a roller coaster. I have never seen a ghost, but I’ve had plenty of supernatural experiences that I can’t explain; shadows, voices, dreams.
And so, in the words of The Cowardly Lion:
I do believe in spooks, I do believe in spooks. I do, I do, I do!” The Cowardly Lion, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum.
What about you? Do you believe in ghosts?

About Gwen Gardner:
I have always been fascinated with ghosts and the paranormal, and I love a good, clean English murder mystery – the cozy kind. That’s why I chose to combine my loves and write young adult paranormal “cozy” mysteries, with a touch of romance thrown in.  My first book, Givin’ Up The Ghost was released in October 2012. My second book, A Guilty Ghost Surprised, will be released in June 2013.
