EXPRESS YOURSELF

Jackie and Danni have asked if there is any ritual or lucky charm that I use?

Well, honestly... I am a creature of habit! I am not myself if I don't follow a basic routine to get me though the day.
In the mornings I do the same things at the same time every day I work - get up (always on the same side of the bed), have a cup of tea, eat breakfast (usually a boiled egg on toast), wash up, walk the dog, make my bed, shower, brush my teeth, paint the face, fix the hair and 90 to 120 minutes later I embark on my journey to work.
If for some reason I need to detour from this path, I get grumpy and things don't go well!
I do believe in luck and I am somewhat superstitious.
I love to look in clover patches for 4 leaf clovers, I find them quite often. I dry them and keep them safe!

1301 - The Marquis (The 13th Floor series, #1)  byChristine Rains Life after Hell isn't more exciting than watching football and fixing a busted pipe. Once a powerful demon, Marc enjoys his quiet existence and a good cup of coffee. With big ambitions to gain his master's favor, a trickster demon named Vetis shatters Marc's peace and vows to deliver Marc's head to the fires of Hell. Not before he destroys everything Marc cares about, of course.

Marc's power has diminished over the years. Heaven will never grant him absolution, and he refuses to return to Hell. Running isn't an option. The city of Carmine is his territory. It's also home to his favorite cafe owner, Mae Hopkins. The dame has a lovely smile, but it's her heart and soul that shine bright.

While his city burns and his love is captured, Marc must decide to surrender or let hate and anger fuel him to become the fearsome beast he so loathes: The Marquis. If the Marquis rises, Vetis can be defeated and Mae saved, but Marc would be lost to his demon forever.
TEASER:
Trickles of sweat ran down Marc’s face. More from the memory of the heat of Hell’s fires than the one on the street. He stepped forward, but he didn’t dare get too close. Once he could walk through the flames unscathed, but these days, picking up a hot pot could scald him.
Christine Rains. The Marquis (Kindle Locations 114-116).

1302 - The Alpha (The 13th Floor series, #2) byChristine Rains Having been cooped up in her apartment for months, Stefanie Porter didn't think one run in the woods would matter. The wolf within her needed to stretch her legs, but obviously she didn't have very good instincts. Her former pack found her, and they almost catch her too, but a mysterious lone wolf jumps in to help Stefanie escape.

The pack is driven by their cruel Alpha, Wyatt. He refuses to give Stefanie her freedom even after she lost the challenge to lead them and left their territory. She can hide in her apartment, or the lone wolf can teach her some of his unusual urban survival tricks. James Roberts might be a bit geeky, but he's smart and looks hot when the argyle sweater comes off. He has a ridiculous ambition to become a superhero, and it might be admirable if Wyatt couldn't rip him limb from limb.

With the pack scouring the city for her, Stefanie must convince James to teach her, or fight not only for her life, but his as well.

TEASER:

Taking off again, she increased her speed. Stefanie didn’t know these woods. The lights of Carmine sparkled to her left, but a water way separated her from the city. She should’ve just stayed home and stuffed a sock down the banshee’s throat.
Rains, Christine. The Alpha (The 13th Floor) (Kindle Locations 66-67).  . Kindle Edition.

1303 The Dragonslayer (The 13th Floor series, #3) by Christine Rains On the rooftop of neighboring building, dragonslayer Xanthus Ehrensvard fires at his target, Governor Whittaker. How he missed the shot, he doesn't know, but fleeing the scene, he picks up an unwanted passenger. Gorgeous reporter Lois King saw Xan's face, and she believes it's the story to make her career. Except he can't let her walk away knowing what he looks like. Xan has to show her the Governor is a bigger threat to the world than he is.

Xan knows dragons never went extinct. They evolved with human society, taking on mortal forms, and slithered their way into positions of great influence and power, just like the Governor. But it's no easy chore proving to someone that dragons still exist, and even more so, they're disguised as famous people. Xan must convince Lois or find another way to silence her. An option, as he gets to know her, he likes less and less.

After all, dragonslayers are no longer celebrated heroes but outlaws. Just as the dragons wish it. But this outlaw must make a plan to slay the dragon or risk its retribution.
TEASER:
Not only had she taken his picture, but she’d seen him. The fake accent wouldn’t distract a woman like her from his face. No one could be allowed to remember him. His calling required anonymity. Best way to make certain of it would be to kill her.

Rains, Christine. The Dragonslayer (The 13th Floor) (Kindle Locations 116-118).  . Kindle Edition.

1304 The Harbinger (The 13th Floor series, #4) byChristine Rains   Meira Harper loves both her jobs: talking about beautiful shoes and fetching souls for Zeus. But the Thunder God threatens the harpy's loyalty to her job when she receives the call to bring the soul of gorgeous Sam Wright. Meira pleads with her boss to let him live. Zeus agrees, but Sam must fight for his life. If Sam can win three challenges, he can keep his soul.
The gods never play fairly, though, so Meira needs to find ways to help Sam with the challenges. She cannot outwardly cross her master, but she refuses to let the man she loves lose his soul. They haven't even had a chance to start a life together.

Sam's soul is on the line. Meira's will be too if she's caught, but that's a risk she's willing to take.
TEASER:
It was strange to be flying home without having retrieved an item or a soul for Zeus. She loved her life in the Middle Realm, especially her newest incarnation as Meira Harper, shoe fashionista. A century ago, she would’ve never have guessed shoes would become an art form, and she’d get paid to wear them and give her opinion.

Rains, Christine. The Harbinger (The 13th Floor) (Kindle Locations 152-154).  . Kindle Edition.

TOP TEN MOVIE COUNTDOWN BLOGFEST

Top Ten Movie Countdown BlogfestMarch 18, 2013List your top ten favorite movies!  hosted by
Alex Cavanaugh!

[image error]   I have always had a soft spot for Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

I don't think I would be able to honestly tell you how many times I have watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show...another of my favourites.

As I have shown previously on this blog I am a big fan of Resident Evil!

I would be lying if I didn't include Dirty Dancing. How could one not be titillated by Patrick Swayze? I just loved watching this movie when I was young.

A Star Trek Movie certainly needs to be included and my choice would be The Future Begins !

Image of Underworld

My choice of Vampire flick would have to be Underworld, but it only just beats  Blade by a hairs breath.

INDELIBLES - INDIE LIFE

Starting January 2013, the Indelibles will be hosting a monthly feature called INDIE LIFE. Modeled after Alex Cavanaugh's awesome Insecure Writer's Group, this will be a chance for indie authors to post about indie life, find each other, offer support, encouragement, news, helpful hints, and anything else that makes life as an indie author a little easier.

What is Indie Life?
How: Sign up on the Linky at the bottom of this page
When: Post on the second Wednesday of the month (starting 1/9/2013)
What: Write anything indie related: something that will inspire or help a fellow indie; something that celebrates a release or a milestone; something that talks about the ups and downs, joys and heartaches of Being Indie.
Grab: The banner above to include in your posts!

Because being Indie doesn't have to mean going it alone.JOIN US FOR INDIE LIFE!

This is my first post for Indelibles Indie Life and I have been contemplating where to begin....

I have so many things to say about being an Indie Writer, but if I say them all in this post, I won't have anything to write about next month.  So, I have decided to stick with one particular topic each time I write for The Indelibles Monthly Meme.

This month I would like to tell you how and why I decided to self publish my novel.

Some of you who know me will have previously read this, so I hope it isn't too boring to read again....

One day a few years ago, I  paid a visit to my local library and found a brochure advertising speaker Judy Barrass, who was to visit the Sunshine Coast Libraries, and was being commissioned by the Queensland Government to present steps and tips to Self Publishing.

I had already completed my book and was at a total loss before the conference, as to how to market and publish it.  I was so impressed with Judy's lecture that I investigated Smashwords.com and decided to publish my first novel (He Came For Me), through their platform.

I found it quite easy, with my background knowledge of Microsoft Word, to upload my work to their site, following the instructions in their - How to Publish and Style Guides.  I believe some people have difficulty with this task, but I believe, if you follow the steps set out in the Guides you should have no big issues.

At the time I published, I had never blogged or created a marketing network, which looking back was quite a challenge and a big mistake!  If I could re-do my choices now, I would definitely try to build up a support network of other authors who would have helped me with the launch of my first book. It is very important to have a solid base to begin.

But, as I did not have this network in place, I released the book without any fanfare and was pleasantly surprised with the result. I was so excited with the news of my first sale! I felt elated that someone had actually bought my work! It was a great feeling and one that I re-live every time I read through my sales reports.

NATIONAL WORMHOLE DAY

National Wormhole Day Blog Hop: March 14th Albert Einstein’s Birthday. Brought to you by Laura Eno and Luanne Smith at Bards and Prophets. Badge created by Carrie Butler!
What would you do or where would you go if you could traverse a wormhole through space or time just once? One safe round trip passage. Would you go back in time and talk some sense into a younger you? Go five years into the future and bring back the Wall Street Journal? See just how the heck the Great Pyramids of Giza were really built? View what the other side of the universe looks like? Kill Hitler?

This is another quick and easy Blog Hop. Since we are all busy, take a moment to tell the world a few moments, and in 100 words more or less, what you would do if you had a two-way ticket to traverse a wormhole. This is my way of getting people excited about all the amazing stuff on the horizon that we as a race are on the cusp of discovering!Stephen Tremp

As I am a bit of a sci-fi enthusiast, my choice would be to take a trip into the future through a wormhole.  I would love to see where the human race goes in say 20, 50, and 100 years time.
It would be fascinating to see the advances in technology and hopefully, I would find a world without poverty, hunger, war and environmental issues!

EXPRESS YOURSELF

Hosted by Jackie@Bouquet of Books& Dani@Entertaining Interests

The Question for this week is:
If you could be on any game show or reality TV show, which would you choose and why?
For game show I have always liked the Wheel of Fortune!
As for reality TV show, hmm, The Amazing Race would suit me.  I could see myself travelling around the world doing crazy stuff, but if it came to some challenge involving heights, I would have to let my partner take on the task.

There would be no way anyone would talk me into doing something daring involving heights!

Cover for 'Mary's Tears'
                  By Aryea Hunt

 http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/281479

 BLURB:

Mary has been running most of her life, from her past, from people, from emotional attachment. She has survived much and enjoyed little, now her biggest task is at hand. She must return home to Newfoundland, home to the place where her demons were born, and where her past still has the substance to haunt her.

TEASER:

She remembered the two of them lying side by side on the lawn, chewing on the stems from those trees, staring up at the darkening sky and discussing the day's events. Starry nights that went on forever, with only the sounds of crickets nearby, inspired talk of other worlds and alien races. Peter's imagination was as active as Mary's, and they could talk for hours about the possibilities of their fantasy worlds.
