Too Many Edits
I’ve partially brought this on myself, unfortunately, but all of a sudden I’m totally swamped with edits and have zero time to get any writing done. That bites. Coming up with new scenes and fun dialogue is so much more interesting than learning what I did wrong and having to fix all those mistakes. Still, the edits need to be completed and the sooner I’m done the sooner I can return to writing.
First I’ve been working on the edits for The Case of the Wandering Wolves....

News: Happy Holidays and Lots of Writing
9/14/15
I know there are many different New Year celebrations. Obviously the most prominent one is on January first, the solar new year the majority of people celebrate. There are also a number of lunar new years like the Chinese one that people observe. I celebrate two near years. The one on January first is my secular new year when I party and see fireworks. These past two days have been my religious new year. Rosh Hashana literally translates to the Head of the Year and is the new year dat...September 12, 2015
Where Do My Ideas Come From?
Where do my ideas come from? That’s a question friends, family, and fans have been asking me for years now. How do I come up with so many different plots and characters? How do I create the varied worlds and magical powers that make my stories unique? I’ve always shrugged and said they just come to me, but it’s a little more complicated than that.
Each one of my stories started as a little seed in my head. I might think of one character or a bit of scenery. Sometimes it&rsqu...

News: Good, Better, Best
9/8/15
The good news is all about writing. Round two of the edits for Dragon Deception are sitting in my inbox. I haven’t had a chance to look at it yet, but as soon as I post this I’m going to get to work. I need to return it to LT3 this week before the high holidays start sapping away my free time.LT3 has also put out a new anthology call for Fairytales Slashed Volume 7. I was working on a short fairy tale called The Red Apple Witch before LT3 pulled their serial page and it&rs...

September Goals
September is going to be an interesting writing month for me. During the first week I’ll be finishing up at the job, so writing time will still be limited. The second week will mostly be about recovering from the previous six weeks. At the same time my school year position is restarting so I’ll be doing a lot of setup for that. The final two weeks of the month are filled with High Holiday preparation and celebration, which inevitably takes away a lot of writing time. I don’t...

August Goals: Results
Only one more week to go at my summer job. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The good news is that I did get the Microsoft Word app to work on my phone so I was actually able to get some writing done. I would have liked to do more, but I can’t be disappointed with the progress I was able to make given the difficult circumstances.
Survive. Yep, still breathing. This last week at work is much easier to get through, so at this point I’m very willing to say I did, in fact,...August 25, 2015
News: Another Week Gone
8/25/15
Another week of the job is over and done with. Right now we’re ramping up for the biggest weekend of the season. This Saturday is going to be absolutely insane. One of my goals for August is to survive the job and if I make it though Saturday it’ll be smooth sailing from then on.Dragon Consultant is posted to GoodReads. Neither LT3 nor I know who or why someone added it, but it’s definitely very cool to see that someone is as excited as I am for it to come out. The...

News: Halfway There
8/19/15
I have passed the halfway point of the job. There’s only three weeks to go. Although, the busiest week of the season is still two weeks away, so I really shouldn’t start celebrating yet.Justified is coming along nicely. I’ve just introduced a dragon to the story (because what fantasy story is complete without a dragon) and I need to figure out how significant a role he’ll have. I’m looking forward to figuring that out as more of the story gets put onto pa...

News: Yays and Oy Veys
8/10/15
I’ll start with the good news first: Magnified was accepted by LT3! Thank you so much to everyone that encouraged me to go ahead and submit it. As usual, I will let everyone know about Magnified’s progression towards publishing as each step occurs. The bad news: I still have twenty five more days left at my summer job. I have been able to get a few thousand words written over the last two weeks since I really have nothing better to do during my breaks than stay off my fee...
