New Book!

I'm so excited to share that my new book, Lost in Wonderland will be out on April 16, 2015! Can't wait for you all to read it. Check out the description here:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

This will be the first in a series of four books about the band Westside. I've referenced them before in books, and I'd always wanted to write the stories of each individual guy. Cam's book is first, followed by Van's, then Phillip's, and finally Dillon's story. Not sure about timing of these, but more to come as I get into the details of each.

Happy reading!

New Book - January 16th!!!

Hi everyone, and Happy New Year! I hope 2015 is getting off to a great start for you.

If you haven't seen it yet, I'm thrilled to share that I have a new book coming out on January 16th. It's a YA novel, which is exciting for me since I haven't delved into that genre in a few years. But earlier in 2014 I was reading a YA novel and realized how much the genre has to offer, so I decided to go back to it. And I had so much fun writing this story that I'm going to consider writing more YA books in the future.

My new book is called Haunted, and at the core, it's a really intense story about two high school seniors dealing with loss who find each other, but there are a ton of other sub-plots that work their way in, including a murder mystery, which was absolutely a first for me.

And, because it's just who I am, music plays a big part in this book. I'll be sure to publish the playlist in a few days since I know there are some of you who love to see that.

For now, check out the book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

It'll be available on Amazon and Smashwords on the 16th with availability on all eReaders soon after.

Hope you love it!

Monica

MONSTERS IN THE CLOSET Description

So here it is, the description for Monsters in the Closet, the sequel to Dancing With Monsters. It will be out October 16th, and I'm super-excited for you all to read it. As promised, I'm going to release it as a single novel and as a box set that contains both books, so if you haven't read Dancing With Monsters, you can buy both together at a discounted price.

Monsters in the Closet starts three and a half years after where Dancing With Monsters ended. Things have changed a lot for Haley and Sawyer, and you learn that right from the start. The book also includes some flashback scenes so you can catch up on what happened after Shana came back into their lives and turned everything upside down. But more importantly, you'll get to see what happens now when they're faced with seeing each other after being apart for three years.

Here is the description for the book:

Life got in the way.

It was a phrase I’d heard before, but I never understood it until I experienced it for myself. For twenty-three years I’d been in control of my life and my decisions. I’d made my own way, carved my own path, created my own happiness. But life’s a funny thing. Just when you feel like you have it all figured out, it drops a bomb on you that you never saw coming.

In my case, that bomb was named Shana Lane, a name that still grates on my ears nearly four years later whenever I hear it on the radio or see it on the cover of a magazine at the grocery store. Shana Lane is someone I despise, because everything in my life was great until the day she came into it.

Sometimes things just don’t work out. Sometimes you can’t find a way around the obstacles you face in life. And sometimes you lose the one person you ever truly loved because of things that are out of your control.

Haley Brecken and Sawyer Everett understand this all too well. They were happy and in love until one day it all became too much. Life got in the way.

It’s been more than three years since they’ve seen each other. When Haley finds out that Sawyer’s going to be spending three months in her town and staying at the inn she runs, an array of emotions run through her, but one is stronger than all the others. She still loves Sawyer, and she wants him back. But old anger, the ever-present distance in their lives, and the things neither of them can change are just as prevalent as they were years earlier. Haley soon realizes that no matter how badly she wants to be with the man she loves, it might not be possible.

As much as it pains Sawyer to see Haley again because his feelings for her haven’t changed, he knows being with her isn’t an option. Nothing has changed for them. Nothing can solve the problems that surfaced years earlier. No matter if he has to see her day in and day out because his boss is filming a movie in her town, he’s determined to keep his distance.

But feelings like they had don’t just go away, and staying away from each other might be harder than they ever thought. Some people are just meant to be together – if they can find a way past everything that tore them apart once before.

Trying Something New ...

So, I decided today that I'd put some of my books for sale in box sets at a slightly lower rate. It's something I've never tried before, but I figured, why not? I bought a book that was part of a two-book box set for the first time this weekend, and I kind of love the idea that when I finish the first book, the second one is right there. I thought to myself, hey, I can do that for my readers too. So I did :)

Available tomorrow, you can get all three books in the Broken Fairytales Series in one box set for $8.99 (that's $3 less than if you were to buy them all individually), and you can get both books in the Forcing Gravity Series for $5.99 ($2 lower than the individual prices for each). I figure that's a pretty good deal.

So if you haven't read any of these books, check 'em out. I also have plans to put together two more box sets. I just ran out of time tonight :) But in the next few days, they'll be available. And when "Monsters in the Closet" comes out in October, I'll do the same with the two books in that series.

Happy reading!

Monica

"Dancing With Monsters" Playlist

Since publishing day is just a week away, on June 16th, I thought I'd share the playlist for Dancing With Monsters. I'm super-excited for you all to read this!

There were so many amazing songs that influenced parts of this book, but there were definitely a few that stood out as the ones that shaped how I wanted this story to unfold. It's a truly amazing thing when you have this idea in your mind about a plotline, and then you hear a song that embodies exactly what you've been thinking all along. So many times during the writing process I was walking my dog, listening to music, thinking about this story, and I'd hear a song and think, that's it! That is exactly what I've been envisioning this whole time - and now I can finish that scene! I'm not sure why music inspires me so much but seriously, a song can literally connect the dots when I'm stuck. It's equally crazy as it is awesome.

Below you can see where I starred the songs that most remind me of the key themes in this story when I listen to them :)

Falling Apart – Matt Nathanson
State I’m In – Needtobreathe
Pompeii – Bastille
Monster – Paramore
I Really Want It – A Great Big World
This River is Wild – The Killers
Famous Last Words – My Chemical Romance

Don’t Save Me – Haim
Littlething – Jimmy Eat World
Keep on Wanting – The Fray*
The Heart – Needtobreathe*
That Feeling – We the Kings
The Sharpest Lives – My Chemical Romance
If You Only Knew – Shinedown
Closer to Fine – Indigo Girls
End of All Time – Stars of Track and Field
Monster – Imagine Dragons
I Believe – Christina Perri*
Say You Like Me – We the Kings
Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy – Fall Out Boy*
Tip Toe – This Century
Dirty Paws – Of Monsters and Men
Mr. Brightside – The Killers
Brother – Needtobreathe*
Raging Fire – Phillip Phillips
California Wasted – Toad the Wet Sprocket*
When the World Breaks Your Heart – Goo Goo Dolls
I Feel Alive – We the Kings
