COVER REVEAL: Dimension Drift (Prequel #1)

So excited to share the cover and description for my new series! Dimension Drift features a snarky heroine, dystopian future, and tons of romance. You can order the first prequel today on Amazon, B&N, Kobo, Google Play, and iBooks.

Prequel Description

Truth time. I go to a Learning Squirrel High School. Don’t judge.

On second thought, judge away. Learning Squirrel is one step above attending class in a junkyard. But what do you expect? Everything’s made out of garbage these days. At least, I have my freelance work to keep Mom and me housed, clothed, and fed. How? I’m your regular high school science geek for hire… only my work manipulates space-time. These gigs pay really well, but the government wants people like me dead. Good thing I’m super careful about hiding from their detection systems.

Then I screw up a job. Badly. My house slips into two-dimensional space-time. It only lasts for a few seconds, but the move still sets off about a dozen government alarms. If they track me down, Mom and I are good as dead. Long story short, I need to pay someone off, hide the evidence, and keep us safe.

Unfortunately, that means asking the Scythe for help. He runs the local underground crime scene and has absolutely no conscience. Or I’m pretty sure he doesn’t. It’s hard to think straight when a guy’s that hot in an evil Mafioso kingpin kind of way. More importantly, he’s a crime lord who can conceal my slip-up with a few clicks on his minion’s computer keyboards. But the Scythe has his price. In this case, he wants me to finish a certain dimensional prototype for him in twenty-four hours. I can do it, but it might mean Learning Squirrel High gets blown up in the process.

I’ve gotten out of worse scrapes. Maybe.

Why Launch Monster House?

Some of you might know me from my previous work with Ink Monster… and perhaps wonder why I decided to launch Monster House Books. To answer this question, Ink Monster CEO Aileen Latcham and I had jointly written the letter below.

Dear Friend,

We wanted to let you know about some exciting changes at Ink Monster that will empower our merry band of crazies to do what they do best… write books with kick-ass heroines.

Ink Monster is restructuring!

Aileen Latcham will continue on as the sole owner of Ink Monster, while Christina Bauer will form a new company, Monster House Books.

Why the change?

In looking at our five-year plans (you know us!) we decided that we have different goals, both creatively and for our business selves. We want to keep working together as consultants when we need each other, but also give ourselves flexibility in new areas.

What does this mean for how we do business?

If you work with us as a partner or vendor, you’ll probably be doing much of the same stuff, only with either Ink Monster or Monster House paying the bills. If you’re a retailer, you’ll still get all the analysis and planning that we’re both well-known for. Monster House officially launches in September 2016.

In conclusion, we both want to thank you for supporting our dream of kick-ass storytelling. We look forward to teaming together in the future.

Christina & Aileen

On a personal note, I wanted to wish Aileen the very best as she continues to grow Ink Monster to new heights while raising the cutest baby in the history of ever. And to all the ladies of Ink Monster, you are phenomenal, end of story.

CURSED is FREE until Sept 30th

For the first time ever, my book CURSED is available at no charge at Amazon, iBooks, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and GooglePlay.

This is to celebrate the upcoming launch of book 2 in the series, CONCEALED, which launches on October 25th. Descriptions of both books may be found below…

About Cursed

Most days, Elea couldn’t care less about being a witch, even if she does have special powers over spirit and bone. Why bother with incantations when you’re a farm girl? Elea only uses her Necromancer magic to speed up chores and scare off suitors.

Everything changes when the evil Necromancer Tsar curses Elea. Now, she only has five years left before she burns as a ghost, tortured for all eternity. They say there’s nothing she can do, but Elea disagrees. Embracing her Necromancer ability, Elea trains as a magical assassin. Her goal? Kill the Tsar before his curse kills her. After years of preparation, Elea’s finally ready to strike.

That’s when everything goes horribly wrong.

A handsome warlock named Rowan steps up to help. Elea wants him as an ally, but she can’t ignore the mixed-up feelings that come with every one of Rowan’s crooked smiles. An assassination mission is no time to fall in love, but Elea’s heart may have other ideas…

About Concealed

As a Grand Mistress Necromancer, Elea’s a witch who commands the ultimate power over spirit and bone. It’s magic that she’ll need in order to stop the Vicomte Gaspard from killing her Sisters by draining their magic along with their life force.

To find and free her fellow witches, Elea must venture into some of the most dangerous places in the realm. What starts off as a rescue quest could easily turn into a suicide mission. And with the handsome warlock Rowan along to help, Elea may be risking more than her life. Her growing feelings for Rowan might put her heart on the line, too.

3 Reasons Why I’m Pumped for Tomorrow’s Cover Reveal

Tomorrow, the awesome bloggers who support yours truly are sharing the first-ever cover for Dimension Drift, my new YA dystopian series (due out in 2017).
To celebrate, here are three reasons why I’m so fucking pumped for these books:

Reason #1: The heroine is a smart-mouthed badass.

She’s named after a flower and lives in the equivalent of a run-down amusement park. What’s not to love?

Reason #2: The world explores reality, consciousness, and overlapping dimensions.

Hint: Some of the beings in other dimensions are smoking-hot, while others are creeptastic. Fun!

Reason #3: The heroine’s superpower is science.

Now, some of you might say ‘science, blech’ but I swear, I’ll make this good. I’m talking cool science that flips dimensions and breaks hearts. Plus, our heroine also has two crazy cousins who come along for the ride. One is an expert in chemistry and the other’s a wiz with mechanics. Did I mention there are hot guys in the story, too? Well, there are.

Here’s a little peep at the series title text… check out the interwebs on September 3rd for a full view!

And because I need book sales to pay for things like food, I’ll share that you can order Dimension Drift now at Amazon, iBooks, Google Play, and Kobo.

SCALA is FREE through August 31st

SCALA, the second book in my Angelbound Origins Series, is now FREE through August 31st on Amazon, iBooks, Kobo, and Barnes & Noble!

Description

Nineteen-year-old Myla Lewis has transformed into Great Scala, the only being with the power to move souls out of Purgatory and into Heaven or Hell. Trouble is, a magical object called Lucifer’s Orb is limiting Myla’s abilities. If she tries to move a soul, the Orb’s forcing her to send that spirit straight to Hell.

So, what’s a girl to do? Send innocents to the fiery down-under?

No way. Myla’s gone on a supernatural strike. No souls go anywhere until the Orb’s history. It’s the right thing to do, but Purgatory’s Soul Storage buildings are turning into time bombs. No spirits are moving out, while millions keep coming in. Myla’s determined to find the Orb and send the innocent to Heaven, but she’s running out of time. Soon, the containment fields will burst, releasing a mob of homicidal ghosts.

With Soul Storage ready to explode, Myla’s got enough on her plate without her old enemy, Lady Adair, causing problems. Adair is launching an ingenious campaign to take away everything that Myla holds dear, including Myla’s Angelbound love, Prince Lincoln.

Between their clever ideas and toe-curling kisses, Myla and Lincoln are fighting back. But will they beat the clock or lose everything to Adair’s devious schemes?

About Cherished

For Elea, there’s never been a better time to turn away from witch life. The Tsar is in exile. The Vicomte is dead. And Rowan? Falling for him only broke her heart. Instead of casting spells, Elea spends her days running Braddock Farm and enjoying the flirtations of the very handsome and non-magical Philippe. Everything is going perfectly, except for one problem.

Someone’s trying to kill her.

Shujaa is a Changed One, a Creation Caster mage whose mutated form makes him invincible in battle. Now that the Tsar and Vicomte are gone, Shujaa wants to rise and rule. To do so, he must eliminate all those powerful enough to oppose him, and Elea is top on his list. Anyone who offers her aid quickly ends up dead.

In the end, there’s only one person who can keep Elea safe while helping her defeat Shujaa: Rowan. Like it or not, Elea must team up with her old love. With Philippe along for the ride, Elea plans to team with Rowan without losing her heart this time. But that’s when all her plans fall apart…

Pre-orders are now live at Amazon, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.
