A Summer of Reading
If I was to describe this summer in one activity, it would be reading. Especially the last several weeks. So, I thought I’d share the different authors and series I’ve been glomming. Please note that some of the links in this post may be affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission from […]

A Re-Release, Coming Soon!
Hey, all! So the second book in the Ashten Falls series is finally coming back to your favorite e-book retailers THIS SUMMER! Oh, and did I mention it’ll be available in paperback, too?! It definitely will be, a couple weeks after the e-book release. Woohoo!! While this book was released initially a couple years ago, I took it down and re-worked it the way I always wanted it to be. Sam is still growly as ever. Emma is strong and...

Distraction & Procrastination
(Note: this was supposed to post like, last week? It didn’t post, and I didn’t double check on that. My fault. So, I’m a week behind but I’ll catch up. Sorry about that!) This first week of the The Artist’s Way is always one of those a-ha moments, for me, no matter how many times I read this chapter. It’s a reminder of how easy it is to become what is called “the shadow artist”. (It’s also where I’m reminded...

How I Use Daily Pages & Down Time To Get More Writing Done
As I mentioned in my post from earlier this week, The Artist’s Way is a book I’ve had to go back to every now and then again when I let the life stifle me, and the creativity I want to share. This is my third read and since I’ve missed blogging I thought doing a week by week journey of the book would be a good way to combine both of them. I don’t agree with all of what the...

Looking For My Creative Self
My creative self has been buried, lost, found, re-buried, burned alive, abandoned, found again, and the last few years has been kinda lonely. These emotions are not unfamiliar to creatives. Writers and other artists often struggle with getting their art out, with feeling ‘whole’. I know for me, I struggle with feelings of insecurity and lack confidence at times when it comes to my art. And when I add to that the other responsibilities in my life, well, it can...

Cutting the Cord
I did it. After years of of saying I’d do it, and a bunch of research, I cut the cord. I got rid of cable. I moved in October and when I did, I noticed my cable bill kept creeping up, a couple dollars every month. I had Spectrum. I hate Spectrum. But anyway, I was annoyed. I called a couple times and their retention specialist were not helpful, at all. In early March I did speak with someone who...

Reading Round-Up: Feb. & March Edition
In trying to complete the Romance-o-poly Challenge this year, I’ve been reading a lot of ‘new to me’ authors, and many books that are ‘new to me’ are actually old but I consider new because they’ve been on my kindle for a million years, still unread. (Okay, not a million, but like six…). However, this last couple months, the trend has half “new to me” authors, and the other half authors I’m familiar with, as a reader. February was a...

When You’re Stuck Between Winter and Spring
If you’re from the northeast, or really anywhere that experiences wild seasonal weather four times a year, you’ll be aware of that time between winter and spring that almost seem caught in time. It feels like it’s stuck, or at least barely moving. An example–here in Central New York yesterday it was in the sixties and we had our windows open last night. Today? It’s snowing. And sure, the big piles of snow are finally melting but now it’s just...

The Shortest Month Always Seems the Longest
February is the shortest month, and where we are in Central New York, it also ends up feeling like the coldest. Meterologically speaking, I don’t know if this is the case, but after four months of the cold and white stuff falling from the sky, it freaking feels like the cold has settled in my bones and will never leave. And even though it is short, I feel like I have to pack in a million things into it. Thankfully...
