Weekend at Thistle Dew

As I write this blog I’m sitting in a home, much of which was built sometime in the early 1800s. It’s set on 300 acres in the foothills of the Adirondack mountains, in Remsen, New York. Wolfka, the friendliest dog in quite possibly the entire world, is curled up somewhere, probably at the feet, or near the feet of, a busy writer who is tapping away at their keyboard. Writers are writing in the Adirondack room, and others are sitting...

January Romance-o-poly

I’m a few days late on my January Romance-o-poly round-up. After a super busy week last week that lasted in to the weekend, I got behind. I did finish my January Progress post, which you can find HERE. That post is a quick run down of the words written, books read (not just my #Romance-o-poly books), television shows I’m streaming, and books bought–for January, anyway! But this post is focused solely on my first month completed for #Romance-o-poly! (Well, it’s...

Reading and Writing Round-Up: January 2019

January 2019 was approximately 9074 days long and I am so glad it’s finally over. But depsite all the chaos I’ve been making significant progress on my writing projects, and in my reading, including my progress in the Romanceopoly Reading Challenge. I’ve even watched some Netflix, which doesn’t happen often. It was nice to have some fun, creative downtime, in addition to the “work” creativity I was doing. Writing I wrote a lot this month. While I’ve mainly been in revision...

2019 Reading Challenge: #Romanceopoly

One of the things I’ve missed about blogging and reading more is having fun challenges to do throughout the year. I used to do them all the time on Goodreads and had shelves of different challenges or I’d be doing challenges in the groups I was in. I wouldn’t always finish, but they kept me motivated to keep reading and get through the mountains of to-be-read books. Last July, when I went to my first RWA Conference I came home...

The Ultimate Planner Crash and Burn

I had started 2018 by purchasing one of those annual goal setting workbooks and dutifully went through, completing the entire thing. I had deadlines and goals and an action plan and I put everything in my planner with pretty stickers and glitter and washi. I was going to knock 2018 outta the park!! Looking back at my major goals, I didn’t get one damn thing done. Not one. There are several reasons for this. Some because life happened. But as...

Where Did the Words Go?

It’s been awhile. A long, long while since I updated my blog. A lot has happened since the fall of last year but still, I should have been more on top of things on the blog. Especially because I love blogging. It’s how I stared this whole journey. And I’ve missed it–blogging. I know that blogging is seen by some as old-school, now. But for me, it’s a way to write something different than the romance and suspense I’m usually writing,...

Why Thursday, For Me, Can Be A Nightmare

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of October of 2001. I was a second year law student at the time. It was a Thursday. A week later, my maternal grandmother died of a sudden, obviously unexpected, heart attack. I wasn’t there. I was an hour away. But my mom, and grandfather, and her sister, and my sister were there, among others. This was also a Thursday. The two events were emotionally crushing for me but that...

A Surprise 99 Cent Sale on SLOW RIDE!

Hey, everyone! Look what’s on sale! This is my romantic suspense from 2014, and the first in my Ashten Falls series. The sale came as a total surprise to me. Now that Crimson is closed, Simon & Shuster runs sales/promos and I don’t necessarily know when that is happening (like this sale!). I happened to run across it by accident when I was getting some paperbacks for a book signing in October, in Liverpool, New York. SLOW RIDE could be on...

A Recent By the Numbers Look at American Voters & My Thoughts

I enjoy politics (sometimes, but not lately) but what I like more are polls. Polls, numbers, stats they’re my jam. I don’t know why, cause I hate math. But anyway the newest Quinnipiac poll has fascinated me with it’s most recent findings. Talk about seeing by the numbers (which are real, not fake news as some might suggest) how divided this country is. Yikes. So, let’s look at the latest polls from Quinnipiac University. They’ve a pretty decent polling history,...

Oh, Planner Peace, Where Were You All This Time?

About a month ago I’d been using my Happy Planner and jotting down my appointments and to-dos for the week. After about twenty minutes I tossed my planner aside in annoyance and frustration. This wasn’t working. The Quest for Planner Peace I’ve tried a lot of planners. The original bullet journal. An ARC from Staples. A Happy Planner. Back to BuJo. A Traveler’s Notebook. Then back to Happy Planner (where I most recently was.) I’ve also purchased a lot of...
