This is your weapon when you delve down into hell. Get used to finishing things - nobody cares about your unfinished manuscript, your poetry scraps, the letters left unread slipped under doors. Keep writing until you think it's going to burst inside of you. Figure out which words feel the best on your tongue and on your fingers, the kind of words that make your knuckles ache. Listen to a lot of doom metal and dubstep. Quit running away from the emotions that make you ache - this will be your ammunition. (less)

“The human brain has the unique ability to doubt the reality presented to itself. To comprehend the dissonance between ideas and the truth of the surrounding world. God knows this, and it infuriates him. It terrifies him.”
Autumn Christian, The Crooked God Machine

“Well, you know. It's always the end of the world.”
Autumn Christian, The Crooked God Machine

“if you truly want to know why I'm helping you, you won't get any easy answers. It's not because I believe in the goodness of humankind. It's not because I believe God and the rest of the monsters are evil. I only wish to have the capacity to change. To know that we have the ability to take a different direction than the one presented to us. That is more important than good and evil. Than life or death.”
Autumn Christian, The Crooked God Machine

“It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.”
Edgar Allen Poe

“Swear to me swear to me that if it isn't dead you'll all come back.”
Stephen King, It

“I do not love men: I love what devours them.”
André Gide, Prometheus Illbound

“Horror is the natural reaction to the last 5,000 years of history.”
Robert Anton Wilson, Down to Earth

“I think horror can and should be classy. I enjoy seeing it raised up not lowered down to the lowest common denominator.
There's prejudice against the horror genre and I think sometimes that's the fault of the authors involved.”
Carole Gill
