Did I Just Say Self Publish My Book?

Self-Publishing your book and Traditionally publishing your book seem to be a great divide in the writing world. Plan A, and B and C and... Mention the words "self-publishing" to say ten or fifteen aspiring authors and there will never be an answer that they will agree upon. I'm not about to suggest they come to blows, but almost every writer has a personal point of view about what

Book Review: Creativity, Inc. Ed Catmull with Amy Wallace

I have read many business books in my years studying Advertising and Communications when I was in college. They were all the same. If you had trouble falling asleep, grab a business book. They knock you right out. Ed Catmull's Creativity, Inc. Why is that? Shouldn't people who lead these dynamic companies bedynamic themselves? Shouldn't they inspire and energize you with their

Two Questions Writers Hate

There are always questions writers have to answer and usually it has to do with one of two things: writing and, money. After having written a blog for seven years, and really only became serious with the business about two years ago the main question people ask is usually on the topic of writers earning income. Some are new writers themselves, and some are more of the cynical type. There are

Writing with Speech to Text Apps: A Review

With Annabella taking over the reins of the book reviewing, I get to be the new resident Tech Reviewer on Living a Life of Writing. Annabella did know her stuff, I'll give her that. I hope that I will be able to fill her shoes with my own reviews. Speech to Tech Apps are very popular for writers. Sometimes you are able to get your thoughts out faster if you say them out loud.

Teen Challenge Overview and The Winner Is....

I'm wrapping up the teen challenge with a blog post. I have to say it was a challenge. I normally read two to three books as week to review. With work, I work a full time job outside of the house, and the necessities of life, eating and sleeping to name a few, it started to get hard to fit the time in. I was staying up until one in the morning, I know that doesn't sound late to

How Do You Write A Business Plan?

It's a perfectly normal question a person who starts to write will be asked, especially when the support they have for their dreams and goals is almost non-existent. This is not only when people, close family or friends make you feel some doubt about your own abilities, but it's also when you feel that there isn't as much support for your goals. You need a business plan. How do you write a

Book Review: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

With this last review the Teen Book Challenge is over. I'm not going to lie, at first it was easy but then life started to get in the way (work, eating, sleeping and a really bad cold) and the last two days were tough. I'm glad that I did it. Not going to do it for a while. In this though you all gave wonderful suggestions so I have more books to review and I am looking forward to

The Challenge and Success in Writing Blogs

Are you writing blogs because you want to write or for something else? This is a challenge- using an old typewriter It's not as if you can interact with each person in the world, and even if you could, there is the problem with time zones, and languages, and just about every other type of challenge known to man. Some of these can be fixed, there is a means to allow your blog to be

Where Have All The Writers Gone?

There are millions of writers out there. I'm not disputing this fact. What I am asking is where have all the writers gone? Emerson quote You can argue that everyone who has published a book is a writer. Not a problem, I agree with this statement, but this is untrue. Writers need a brand, a market, a person, a Twitter account, a Google+ account, and a Facebook Author page, and a blog,
