Christmas with the Professor ~ Cover Reveal and Blurb!

I have a new BDSM erotic romance coming out soon called "Christmas with the Professor."  It's a short story that will be available as a single release and also included in Books to Go Now's Spicy Holiday Anthology.  I'm so excited to share the cover and the blurb today!    A guarded heart. One Dom determined to break inside.
Angela can't stop fantasizing about her former Psychology professor, Dr. Taylor.  His commanding presence and deep, gravelly voice bring out the submissive girl inside her, the girl she left behind after her last Dom cast her aside. But is Dr. Taylor kinky?  When she shows up at his house with fresh-baked Christmas cookies, she attempts to tease the Dom out of him and ends up getting much more than she bargained for - her heart softens to a man for the first time in years.  She flees for the safety of her apartment expecting to spend the holidays alone licking her wounds.  When an unexpected visitor comes knocking on Christmas morning, will she slam the door and continue to guard her heart?  Or will she open herself up to a new year of possibilities?

"Christmas with the Professor" will be released very, very soon.  I'll keep you updated!  Oh, and it will only be 99 cents.  My other 99 cent erotic BDSM reads that are currently available are Valentine Submission, Tessa's Submission, and Snowed in with Santa.

xoxo

Sue

P.S.  Today is also LOL 7 (Love Our Lurkers Day 7) within the spanking blogger community.  Please visit My Bottom Smarts for more info and a list of participating blogs.  :)

The Next Big Thing: Authors Tagging Authors

I was tagged by Constance Masters and Rhonda Laurel in the Next Big Thing:  Authors Tagging Authors...also known as the WIP Blog Hop.  Thanks for the tag, ladies!

Here are the rules:
Give credit to the person/blog that tagged youPost the rules for this hopAnswer these ten questions about your current WIP (Work In Progress) on your blogTag five other writers/bloggers and add their links so we can hop over and meet them.
1. What is the working title of your book?

Christmas with the Professor

2. What genre does the book fall under?

BDSM erotic romance

3. Which actors would you choose to play your characters for the movie rendition?

Hmm...is it too much to ask for Joe Manganiello and Natalie Portman?  Because I'd sure like to see those two go at it:)

4. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

A guarded heart.  One Dom determined to break inside.

5. Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Christmas with the Professor will be published by Books to Go Now.  It will be released as a single story and also published in an anthology with other erotic holiday stories.

6. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

It's a short story, so it took about a week to complete the first draft.

7. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Oh my, me compare my book to another story within my genre?  Nope, not gonna do it!  Too weird.

8. Who or what inspired you to write this book?

I was invited to write a short story for a spicy holiday anthology from Books to Go Now, so I began jotting down ideas immediately.  I've always wanted to write a story that took place between a student and teacher and decided to give it a try.  Christmas with the Professor is a little different than most teacher-student stories though because the student is a non-traditional student (she's older than all her classmates) and she suspects Dr. Taylor is kinky.

9. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

It's a story about healing and learning to feel again after experiencing a tremendous heartache.  Oh, and there's plenty of romance and BDSM for all you kinky folks out there:)

Question #10

Tag, you’re it!

I ’tagged’ the following authors:

1.  Renee Rose
2.  Anastasia Vitsky
3.  Avery Dawes
4.  Adaline Raine
5.  Patty Devlin

Vanishing Reviews on Amazon: A Threat to Authors, Reviewers, and Readers

When I first joined Facebook and Twitter as Sue Lyndon a little over a year ago, I didn't have much to say.  I had a few stories under contract that weren't yet published, but I knew it was important to get my feet wet in social networking.  Since I'm an avid reader, I decided to start reviewing all those books I was reading.  I'm sure I talked about other things, but what I remember most was reviewing books and getting to know other authors and readers with similar interests.

Eventually I started to receive review requests from authors.  I was floored!  Of course I didn't review every book sent my way.  If the book wasn't up my alley or I read it and couldn't get into it, I politely declined the review request.  As an almost published author, it didn't feel right to leave a scathing review for a book I didn't enjoy.  So I focused on the books I enjoyed, those worthy of 4 and 5 stars in my opinion.

After my first ebooks were published and I was officially an author, I continued to write reviews of the books I read and enjoyed.  I try to post my reviews on Amazon, Amazon UK, B&N, and Goodreads.  If an author requests I post a review on another site, I'm always happy to do it.  After all, it's important we support each other, right?  I certainly believe so.  But according to Amazon, I've been a very naughty girl.  You see, Amazon thinks it's a conflict of interest for me to write a book review because according to them I'm a direct competitor to other authors since I'm also an author.  The reviews I've written could be deleted at any time without warning.  At least that's one theory I read about in this LA Times article that's been tweeted like crazy for the past two days:  Why is Amazon deleting writers' reviews of other authors' books?

As a reviewer, I haven't lost any of the ninety reviews I've left on Amazon so far.  I've been checking every day and I'm totally paranoid that one day I'll wake up to find all the honest reviews I took the time to write have vanished.  The account I write book reviews under is the same account I use to purchase Kindle books, but it's also an Amazon author account.  If that's not a red flag according to the rules they have recently decided to enforce, I don't know what is.  Frankly, I'm surprised my reviews haven't been deleted yet, especially since I'm also an Amazon top reviewer.  My only hope as a reviewer is that since the majority of the ebooks I review are "verified purchases" and I also review products occasionally, maybe they won't delete the reviews I've written.  Time will tell.  As I said before, I'm quite paranoid.  Big Brother is watching.

As an author, I have lost four reviews on my ebooks during the last two weeks.  Three reviews were deleted from A Firm Husband and one review was deleted from Tessa's Submission.  Guess what?  I didn't solicit a single review for either of those books and I had no clue who the readers were who left the destined-to-be-deleted reviews, yet for some reason Amazon chose to delete those reviews.  After I noticed the missing reviews, I found many authors, mostly indie authors, discussing the topic of vanishing reviews in an Amazon author forum.  I realized I wasn't alone and eventually came across the LA Times article two days ago.

Now I'll admit that I've seen fishy reviews left on Amazon before.  I'm talking about reviews that were written by family members of the author, or even by the author himself under numerous accounts.  That isn't cool.  If a book has dozens of five star reviews and not a single four, three, two, or one star, alarm bells ring in my head.  Those are the reviews that should truly be deleted because they are indeed biased.

Amazon, please don't delete the honest reviews I've written.  Yes, I am a direct competitor to the authors whose books I've reviewed, but I don't review books as a writer.  I review books as a reader.  Authors work hard at their job and if I want to leave a review for a book I liked or didn't like, then I should be able to do it under the pseudonym I've been using.  What you are doing right now, Amazon, feels a bit like a witch hunt.

Amazon, please implement a better system for locating and deleting suspect reviews.  A lot of authors, especially indie authors, are losing valid reviews and getting burned.  I've seen many authors complaining that with vanishing reviews, their book sales are dropping.  If the deleted reviews in these cases were indeed valid, this is unacceptable.

Lastly, Amazon, please don't screw readers out of the ability to read valid reviews.

I'd love to hear other opinions about this topic, including any personal experiences.  Please feel free chime in with a comment below!  :)

The online spanking community would like to show our thanks to Bonnie of the wonderful blog, My Bottom Smarts, for doing such a fantastic job bringing together spanking bloggers...so today has been dubbed Bonnie Appreciation Day.

Like reading blogs about all things related to spanking and domestic discipline?  Then be sure to check out My Bottom Smarts for great blog posts and check out the websites on her blog roll as well.  I first visited Bonnie's blog a few months back after noticing I was getting a lot of traffic from My Bottom Smarts.  I was so excited to be included on her blog roll!  It blew my mind and helped me to discover other great blogs along the way.  I know other spanking fiction authors and bloggers came into contact with Bonnie the same way.  So let me say...THANK YOU, BONNIE!  We love your blog and truly appreciate all you do to make spanking bloggers feel like a little family.

Let's Get Physical ----- The Alpha Male Blog Hop ----- Oct. 19th - 22nd

Welcome to the Alpha Male Blog Hop! As I was brainstorming what to write for this post, I kept thinking about the physical characteristics of the alpha male.  My favorite kind of alpha male is tall, dark, and handsome.  Broad shoulders and muscular goes without sayingJ  Oh, and between those muscular thighs he’s got one hell of a cock.  I mean, it’s so huge the heroine questions whether or not it’s going to fit.  Yeah, I’m sucker for an alpha hero with a freakishly large cock.  In my upcoming release, Surrender , my alpha male is an alien who is very well-endowed.  Here’s an excerpt of the first time the heroine sets eyes on it“What are you doing?”  She tugged against the soft fabric encircling her wrists and realized it was attached to the bed somehow.  Panic brought her out of her desire induced haze.  His face was a mask, unreadable and it frightened her. “No questions.  No talking unless I ask you a question.”  “But –” He cut her off with a stern look.  Despite her anxiety over the unfamiliar, a new wave of pleasure shot between her thighs and caused her to clench her legs tighter together.  She watched Merokk studying her and felt small under his gaze.  His erect cock rested on her stomach.  She tried not to stare, but it was so damn big. My alien alpha male's cock also does a special trick a humans can’t do…but if you want know what I'm talking about, you’ll have to check Surrender out on November 2nd when it’s releasedJ  *****What's one of your favorite physical characteristics of an alpha male?  Leave a comment telling me what it is (be sure to include your email address) and one random commenter will win a $10 Amazon giftcard.  The contest runs until midnight on October 22nd.*****

Excerpt from "Punished by the Cowboy"

I just opened up my laptop for the first time in days and thought I'd pay my blog some love with a new post.  The last two weeks have been pretty rough - first my kids were sick and then I ended up with pneumonia.  Yuck.  The medicine I'm taking is starting to help, but my mind is in a constant fog and I haven't written a word for days.  Well, other than a story idea I sketched out on a notecard last night LOL but that doesn't really count.  I did watch way too much TV and got a little reading done.  Actually, I guess I read a lot this past week.  I finally finished reading all the Halloween Heat anthologies.  Now that I think about it, maybe that's why I kept having so many hot flashes:)  Anyway, I've been wanting to share the synopsis and an excerpt of "Punished by the Cowboy" - my short story that's included in Halloween Heat VI.

Synopsis:

Exhausted from a string of failed relationships with men who can't satisfy her kink, Liz turns to an online dating forum for people with a spanking fetish. She corresponds with fellow spanko Jacob and shares her most intimate desires with a stranger on the Internet. They plan to meet for the first time at a Halloween party at a hotel, but Liz shows up late and Jacob is none too pleased with her tardiness. The cowboy scolds Liz and informs her that if she's late for their next date, he'll give her a sound spanking. Liz thinks she's off the hook and they enjoy a private dinner in one of the hotel banquet rooms, but Jacob has a surprise in store for her when he announces she's still to be punished that evening. Will the connection they made online transfer to real life? And will Liz be able to gracefully submit to her first real spanking?

Excerpt:

He basked in the vulnerable expression she displayed, as well as the slight tremble of her hands. Despite her visible fear, he’d bet his entire fortune her panties were already soaked, and he intended to discover that for himself soon. In their last online conversation, they’d decided to set no limits on how far they would go on their first date. A short time around Elizabeth, and he understood her. Her eyes exposed her secret yearnings, and he knew she’d be disappointed if he didn’t spank her tonight.

Spinning on his heel, Jacob fetched a chair and dragged it several feet away from the table. He sat down, hands flat on his knees, back ramrod straight, and his eyes full of challenge, silently daring Elizabeth to place herself over his lap. He wouldn’t force her—this time. If they entered a more permanent relationship, he would obtain her blanket consent and paddle her bottom good on his schedule, whether she protested or not. This first time, however, she had to take the first step and submit by coming to him. Once she did, he would take over and push her limits of endurance. She’d never experienced a real spanking before, and he had to make certain she could handle all a relationship with him entailed.

A heavy ball of unease settled low in his stomach as he awaited her next move. Would she submit?

“Take off your boots.”

Elizabeth exhaled and slipped out of her cowgirl boots. Taking slow, deliberate steps, she made her way to Jacob barefoot. She lingered at his side for a moment, took a deep breath, and then lowered her body across his lap. There. She’d done it. She’d placed her trust in Jacob and yielded to his authority. He shifted her higher over his right knee and wrapped his left leg around hers.

“You’ve been a very bad girl.” He used his sternest tone.

She wiggled and her body rubbed against his painful erection. “I’m sorry.” Her voice was husky with a mixture of lust and fright.

Taking his time, Jacob pushed her skirt up to bunch at her waist. Plain white cotton panties covered her little bottom, and he examined them in awe. He’d shared his love for white panties with Elizabeth during one of their first chats online, and he doubted she’d selected this pair of underwear by chance.

“Beautiful.”

He ran a hand over her backside, caressing the area he was about to punish, squeezing and rubbing through her panties and paying equal attention to the flesh outside her panty line as well. A surge of possessiveness rocketed through him as he fondled her bottom, causing a brief disorientation to shake him to the core. His desire for the woman draped across his lap spiked like a thermometer in boiling water, and his movements stilled.

Time for the bare-bottom spanking he’d promised her.

Hungry for more?  You can find "Punished by the Cowboy" and three other HOT stories in Halloween Heat VI, available on Amazon, Amazon UK, Barnes and Noble, Bookstrand, and All Romance.

The Look Challenge: Three Snippets from A Strict Husband

Thank you Sophie Sansregret, Patty Devlin, Constance Masters, and Korey Mae Johnson for recently tagging me for The Look Challenge. I feel loved . . . and ganged up on! Haha. Okay, the rules say I'm supposed to find the word "look" in my current work-in-progress three times and post the sentences around it.

The following snippets are from A Strict Husband (the sequel to A Firm Husband):

1. “We’ve had no disagreements with any of the big ranches you’re worried about. Even if we ran into someone on the road to town, which we didn’t, it’s unlikely they would’ve bothered us.”

“Unlikely but not impossible. You know my rule. You both do.” He shot a pointed look at his wife.

Mattie resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Thomas’s requirement that she and Carol have an escort into the town of Cheyenne was an annoyance.

2.  Not two years ago Thomas had been the first one on the scene of a horrible accident involving Henry’s wife. The wound in his heart reopened each time he ran into the younger man.

“Are you busy?” Thomas looked around the store uneasily, as if to make sure no one else was nearby. At the moment the store was empty, but Henry expected business to pick up before lunchtime.

 3.  “Good to hear.” The rancher’s eyes danced around and he fidgeted with his leather vest, straightening it five separate times in a row. Worry lines marred his face. He looked like he’d aged ten years since the last time Henry saw him - a month ago.

“How’s Carol and Mattie?” Henry placed his hands on the counter and leaned forward, curious about this visit. He had the distinct feeling Thomas wasn’t here to spend money or order supplies.
“Carol’s doing fine,” Thomas replied with a nod. “Mattie is . . . growing up.”

I'm not going to tag anyone new because I'm having a heck of a time trying to think of someone who hasn't already been tagged...so let me just say thanks again to Sophie, Patty, Constance, and Korey.  :)
