A GARGIE Award!
I just won a GARGIE Award!
I'm honored that my Candy's Monsters blog was singled out for this wild & crazy award. The gargoyle image is fabulous & funny — like a drunken gremlin, in the best sense of the phrase.
Check out my post about winning, about gargoyles and about writing so furiously over the weekend, I almost missed that I'd won!

Ghosts and Museums
Where do you go for inspiration?
I went to a museum to see a photography show and found a ghost story. Inspiring objects, ideas, snippets of conversation and people are everywhere!
Check out my Candy's Monsters blog post about Ghosts and Museums for more on stumbling upon inspiration.

Are You Waltzing?
Are you waltzing in the snow with me?
I've just posted chapters 6 & 7 of my serialized mystery novella "Waltzing in the Snow." Be sure to visit the Candy's Monsters blog. I'm posting new chapters every Friday.
On the last Friday, I'll post two versions of the chapter — very different endings to the mystery — and ask readers for their opinions of the two options.
No, I don't have two different ideas of the killer — this is not the musical version of Dickens' unfinished "Edwin Drood" where the audience picks the killer, the choice is between two different visions of the post-solution coda. I honestly don't know which one I like better and hope to get insightful comments from readers.
http://candysmonsters.com/2013/03/15/...
Scroll down to catch up on Chapters 1 to 5. Each one is short! So start waltzing in the snow today!

Haunted
Have you ever lived in a haunted house?
Or have you simply convinced yourself, in a fanciful moment, that creaky floorboards and wind in the trees outside your window were something supernatural?
I have and I'd love to hear about your imaginary hauntings.
I've been doing it as long as I remember and I call it my haunted game. It's very easy to play.
Check out the current post on my Candy's Monsters blog for more.

Historical Fiction Question...
Do you enjoy historical fiction?
A lot of people enjoy traveling to Ancient Rome, Victorian London, the California gold rush of 1849 and all sorts of times and places through books.
I'm curious about your favorite time period.
I've written three cozy mystery stories set in New York in 1924 and I'm contemplating putting the three of them together as a book. 1924 in New York City was all about Broadway, Prohibition, mobsters, flappers, jazz, the Gershwin, brothers, The Ziegfeld Follies, stock deals, immigration, women getting the vote and so much more.
If you have a particular time & place choice, I'm very interested in hearing why you enjoy that particular era/place.

Waltzing Continues...
On Friday I posted the 4th of 17 short chapters in "Waltzing in the Snow."
http://candysmonsters.com/2013/03/01/...
What is "Waltzing" about?
In 1981 a young woman disappears without a trace. Her two closest friends never entirely give up on finding her, even as they grow apart and years pass the memories and the loss linger.
Then out of the blue, in the summer of 2013, the remains of two people turn up during the demolition of a warehouse built back in 1981. The male body appears to be the remains of a Russian mobster. Could the female remains be their friend?
It's a last chance for closure and to discover the truth!
New chapters will be posted every Friday until the end of this mystery.

Chapter-by-Chapter...
Part of me can't wait until I get to the end of my experiment in serialized fiction. I'm waiting, with "baited breath," to find out which of the two endings the readers like better.
Until then, it's chapter-by-chapter and I hope you'll tell your friends to climb on board the "Waltzing in the Snow" train.
Chapters 1 & 2 are already up on my Candy's Monsters blog. To catch up, just scroll down. Chapter 3 goes up on Friday, February 22.

Chapter-by-chapter, the story unfolds.
