Marketing
I have come to the conclusion that I am pants at marketing.
The world's worst. Officially, a hopeless case.
Writing is the easy part. Trying to 'sell' your novels to an increasingly sceptical audience saturated by 'new talent' since Covid and and the addition of A.I., really is beyond an old dinosaur like me.
The tech-savvy new breed of writer seems to have it down to an art form. Me, I struggle in the morning sometimes to turn on my P.C.
I've discovered that acceptance and a realigning of one's expectations is the real key to contentment.
These days, I'm grateful for the odd review and anything else is a bonus.
Maybe I should have adopted this approach many moons ago? I may have saved my hair , my vanishing bank balance and enjoyed a far more peaceful, less stressful existence.
With age comes wisdom as they say.
Respect to all you readers and reviewers out there. Keep supporting indie authors. :-)

The power of a review
Those who know me will tell you I think that what you see is what you get. No hidden agenda. Honesty...
It's no secret I've been immensely disappointed and baffled by the poor response to my new novel in terms of interest/sales.
So, I was delighted and extremely thankful today to receive this private message/review;
'I've just finished your book. It was hard for me at the start because it's not my usual type of read but I really got into it. It's a good story and I could visualise all the scenes. It would make a good film. It's like Lord of the Rings.' :-)

I have found it increasingly difficult to reach readers/reviewers on this site as I attempt to comply with the rules. My latest novel has been out weeks with no reviews.
All this is probably my fault as the demands of a full-time job, family, writing and editing leave little time for networking...

Reading Challenge
Yey! I have completed my personal reading challenge for the year on Goodreads. 15 books in total, 4 by self-published authors.
15 doesn't sound a lot I know but when you factor in my full-time job and my writing, editing, publicising, networking commitments etc. because of the books/site...?
It's been a disappointing year for receiving reviews but at least I know I have given as much as I'd have liked to have got. lol

Authors may keep banging the drum and for that we apologise but each positive review we receive echoes through our minds with a resounding, 'You do have talent so don't you quit!'
A not so good review containing constructive criticism is just as appreciated though. It reminds us that we are not the finished product and points us in the right direction.

Reviews
There is a real storm at present online in the book community after an author went after a reviewer who left a review she did not agree with.
The author is being figuratively hung, drawn and quartered from all sides.
Let me assure you now that I welcome ALL reviews.
Good and bad.
I value all critique and opinions.
I would NEVER object even if I disagree. I questioned something years ago when first starting as I wanted to explain and it backfired on me, so never again. I made my mistake and learned from it.
Readers are entitled to say whatever they want if they have read my work and it is an honest comment/appraisal. Period.
Please be assured that I am not that precious and would welcome your input. You have my extreme gratitude for giving it a go anyway.
