Forget Me Not - Round Robin (week 3)

**** The morning flew by, just as Jenny had suspected it would. Was that a good or bad thing? That she wasn't sure about. She'd spent the morning wondering what Nick looked like. He'd been in the army for eight years. She could only imagine at this point that he would have a buzz cut, tan, scars, and muscles. Biting her bottom lip, she knew he'd be handsome. But it didn't matter how good he looked, he'd left her.
Jenny slid on her favorite black flip-flops. Stopping in front of the mirror, she adjusted her high pony-tail and made her sure mascara hadn't smudged. She then gave a little tug down to her white shorts that made her slender legs look very tan.
Taking in a deep breath, it was now or never. Never sounded good actually. Why did she have to go? Couldn't she just stand him up? No. There was no way she could stand Nick up. As much as he'd hurt her, she had to see him.
Her cellphone buzzed in her back pocket. Sliding it out carefully to assure she didn't accidentally answer it, she saw it was Jeff. With a snort, she rolled her eyes and hit the ignore button. Whatever the hell he wanted, it could wait. She didn't have the patience to listen to his crap.
The spot she was to meet Nick was in walking distance. There was a small private cove not too far away. They used to sit on the rocks as teens and watch the waves as the sun set in the evenings before he had to take her home. She'd only visited the cove a few times since buying her condo. Each time she came there, it hurt and reminded her that he'd left a spot of her heart broken and she still wasn't sure how to fix it.
As she was about to approach the spot, her heart raced. She was scared to see him and what feelings it was going to bring back. What if he wanted her back? How was she going to keep her stand that she was angry.
She took a step into the cove and there Nick stood with his back to her, looking out over the ocean. He looked like she imagined, only better. His shoulders were broad in the t-shirt he wore. If he turned, it would likely cling to his pecks. He wore cargo shorts and she smiled. She couldn't remember him ever not wearing cargo pants or shorts.
Crossing her arms, Jenny made her way closer. Nick turned and looked at her and she gasped. The eights years had been good to him.
They stared at one another for a few minutes before Nick took a step toward her. "Jenny, I've missed you so much."
****
See ya next time!

Character Interview: An Alpha's Path by Carrie Ann Ryan
**Swag Giveaway**
Lacey: Welcome Kade, I'm very excited to have you here today heating up my blog. I might need a cold shower once you leave. So first off, tell me what is it like being a werewolf?
Kade: Thanks for having me, Lacey. Carrie Ann's told me a bit about you, so it's a pleasure to meet you. And I don't think you'll need a cold shower, my mate Melanie might get jealous.
*grunts from elbow in the ribs*
Melanie:Go ahead and have fun Lacey with your questions, just remember he's mine. [Symbol]
Kade: *coughs* Okay, then. What is it like to be a werewolf? Natural.
*Melanie laughs*
Kade: Okay, natural to me. I love the feeling of running on four legs. Plus the idea that I'm long-lived and can spend the rest of my eternity with my soul mate makes everything worth it.
Melanie: Aww, Kade.
Kade: I love you, what can I say?
Melanie: *smiles* I love you too. Plus I swear there is something in the wolf gene pool, because they are all freaking gorgeous!
Lacey: Is this something you keep a secret?
Kade: Yes. We have to. Humans aren't ready to be introduced to something that can scare them. My Pack, the Redwoods, you never attack a human, but humans might not believe that. They aren't ready to live with something they don't understand. But I'm over generalizing here, some humans can take it well.
Melanie: It's true, well not everyone… *blushes*
Kade: You got over it eventually.
Melanie: But I was almost too late.
Kade: But you did, that's all that matters.
Lacey: You knew right off that Melanie was your mate. Did you have to be with her, or could you have chosen someone who wasn't your mate to lead the pack with you?
Kade: *smiles* Her honey vanilla scent drew me to her. With werewolves we have potentials in mating. Meaning there a few people out there in all of our centuries of living that can be our mate. *frowns* I actually met another before Mel that could have been my mate. But I'm happy it didn't work out. The mating urge rode me harder with Mel, and I'm damn happy. Speaking of riding me harder…
Mel: *blushes* SO not the time Kade.
Kade: Hey, I thought this was an in depth interview. I thought Lacey would like to know about last night…
Mel: Lacey, I'm sure you're fine not knowing everything right?
Lacey: Please share away. :)
Kade: The sex is good, Lacey. And it's true what they say, "Once you go Were, Others are too much to Bear."
Mel: That was horrible, Kade.
[Soft Break]Kade: You liked it last night.
Mel: *blushes*
Lacey: Does each mate have a different scent? Is honey vanilla a scent you craved before Melanie?
Kade: Each person has their own scent. Some are stronger than others. I think my brother Jasper said his mate smells like cinnamon.
Mel: Kade. I don't think you should be sharing Jasper's secrets.
Kade: True, he has his own book, he can talk then.
Lacey: What is it like being the Alpha?
Kade: I'm not Alpha, yet. I'm only the Heir. My father is the Alpha and I'm following in his footsteps. Honestly, it's scary as hell. I mean, I'm going to be responsible for everyone's welfare. I'm going to be the one who makes the decisions. But I know that I can learn from a great example in my father and he has mom to be by his side. I'm lucky enough to have the same in Mel.
Mel: I'll be with you every step of the way.
Lacey: How are you doing, Melanie?
Mel: I'm doing okay. It was a lot to deal with at first. But the Jamensons are an amazing family that welcomed me with open arms. This whole new world that opened up to me when Kade changed is exciting and more like a family than I ever had before.
Lacey: What can we look forward to? Any other members of the pack getting a taste at love?
Kade: Oh, I think the everyone will find their mate. Jasper just met his, and let me tell you, she's a lovely girl. You can read a bit about them in A Taste for a Mate coming out in February. My family has been blessed in finding love and I can't wait to show you.
Mel: Thank you, Lacey, for having us today.
Kade: *kisses Lacey's hand* Yes, thank you. *grunts* Sorry.
Lacey: *will never wash this hand again!*
Mel: He's smooth, what can I say?
Kade: Oh, you'll see how smooth, later tonight.
Mel: *blushes*

Wanted:Wife (Love, Again Anthology)
My short story Wanted: Wife is part of the anthology Love, Again from Ruby Lioness Press that releases on February 14, 2012
Blurb:
Darcy White is between jobs and is about to lose everything she has. She reads the help-wanted ads every morning. Day after day, she fails at finding anything—that is, until one morning when she comes across an ad she finds intriguing. The help-wanted ad in the paper states that a man is looking for a wife. Before she knows what she's doing, Darcy's exchanging emails with him, agreeing to meet him for lunch.
Steven McDonald is looking for a wife in order to keep his family business, an apple orchard, as his grandfather told him that he couldn't keep this orchard unless he got married. He gets the crazy idea to put a want ad in the paper. After a lot of nutty women respond, one e-mail comes through with a name that sounds very familiar: Darcy White. He was in love with Darcy in high school, but was too afraid to step away from the popular crowd to talk to her. He spent countless nights just thinking about her. Could this be his second chance?
From the moment they enter each other's lives again, the chemistry is there. Steven believes that Darcy is even better than he remembered her. This is Darcy's dream come true; she hopes that Steven might start to feel the same way about her as she feels for him.

What I've Been Up To
Its been awhile since I just blogged about what's going on in my world of writing. So to start off, I can announce that my story for the Clearwater Series at Ruby Lioness Press, titled Finding Home has hopefully finally found its home. Its been a bumpy road for this series, but I think the multi-author series and my story have finally settled in. I hope to bring more details soon about Finding Home, which is my first romance that is non-erotic. I hope in the future to bring my readers a softer side of me along with the naughty side they are used too.
I finished the third novella in my Hot Bods series, and its titled Accidental Love. I've turned it into my publisher, and now I have to wait as patient as possible to see if they are interested in it. This one is a tad longer then the first two, but my writing is getting better so my word count is improving.
I have another stand-alone novella out in the slush piles looking for a home. Its called Tempting The Manny. I hope to hear something soon - good or bad.
And now onto upcoming releases. Book 2 in the Hot Bods novella series, More Than Useful will be releasing on February 20. If you click the book title it will take you over to Beachwalk Press where you can learn a little about the story. I also have a short story in an upcoming anthology releasing on Valentine's Day from Ruby Lioness Press. I'm very excited for February! Hurry hurry!!
BUT, February is almost here. And the sale of Amber's Muse will be over. So, if its been on your to be read list, hurry up. Its only 1.99 for a few more days. (on my home page you can find buy links).
And lastly, this past week I was on a radio show. If you want to hear about my book I'm working on and having coming out, give it a listen. And just so you know, I'm the southern one with the drawl. :) If you made it this far in reading, thanks! I love comments, so feel free to leave one just saying hi. ;)

Welcome Jennifer Jakes
Today I have Jennifer Jakes on the blog today hanging out. Below you will find an interview and an excerpt to her newest book Twice In a Lifetime.
1. Tell us a little about yourself. I'm married to my very own hero.
We live on fifteen acres along with two beautiful daughters, three spoiled cats, three hyper dogs and one fat rabbit.
During the summer we do Civil War re-enacting – it's a great research tool, not to mention I have continued appreciation for my microwave and hot water heater.
2. What genre do you write?
Historical – mostly western but my latest is a pirate novella
3. Please tell us about your latest release TWICE IN A LIFETIME and how you came up with the idea.
*** No-nonsense stuntwoman Isabella Douglas will do anything to stop an unwanted divorce and reclaim the happy life she had, even allow her old friend to concoct a magical spell to turn back time. But when the spell goes awry, Izzy finds herself trapped aboard a 1768 Caribbean pirate ship with a captain who's a dead ringer for her sexy as sin husband, Ian. Convinced he's playing a cruel joke, she's furious – until she realizes he doesn't know her or believe they're married.
Captain Ian Douglas does not have time to deal with an insane woman who claims to be his wife; he has to save his kidnapped sister. But as Izzy haunts his dreams and fills him with erotic memories he can't explain, he's forced to admit he feels more than lust.
Trapped in a vicious cycle of past mirroring present, Izzy knows they only have days to find Ian's sister and prevent disaster from striking a second time. If she doesn't, their marriage will be destroyed again – along with the man she loves. ***
This was just one of those ideas that wouldn't let go of me. I had this image of a kick-butt heroine suddenly dropped onto a 1700s pirate ship. So I had to figure out the who and why……and all the little details.
4. Is it part of a series? No
5. A must have snack while you write.
Depends on the day. And the last time I went grocery shopping! LOL
6. A fact that someone might not know about you.
I know how to drive a dump truck!
7. Advice to writers who have yet to be published.
Study the craft; write the best story you can; never give up!
8. Is there a genre you haven't written yet that you want to?
Well…..I'm sure I'll stay in the historical genre but I have several ideas for different sub-genres of historical.
9. Have you written a character that most resembles you?
It would be Izzy from TWICE IN A LIFETIME
10. What type of hero do you enjoy writing about?
Alpha – emotionally wounded
11. What are you currently reading?
I just finished A BEAUTIFUL CAGE by Alyson Rueben. It's fantastic!
12. What are you currently working on?
A new western novel, ALASKAN HEAT, set during the 1898 gold rush

EXCERPT: TWICE IN A LIFETIME
Her fingers threaded in his thick hair as she traced his mouth with the tip of her tongue. "Kiss me."
He hesitated, then groaned and covered her lips in a breath stealing kiss. Hot, wet, silky. Her nipples hardened, ached for his touch, the tug of his fingers, the pull of his mouth.
"Touch me." She pressed a kiss to his throat, then licked his collarbone. "I need your hands on me."
He grunted and slid his hands down her back. Rough palms gripped her cheeks, grinding her against his erection. His gaze burned through her as he moved his thigh between her legs.
"Yes. Please." She tilted her hips, rubbing, needing release more than air. "Oh, God, yes." Desire roared through her, the ache building. Building. The orgasm so . . .damned. . .close.
A sharp knock sounded at the door. "Captain? The men are ready to go ashore."
Ian pulled back and swallowed hard, his expression hungry, his heart thumping against her breast.
"Captain?"
"Yes. Yes, I'll be right there." His heavy lidded gaze skimmed her body. Possessive. Aroused. Regretful as he set her aside.
Her mind crawled to process what was happening while her body was doused with disappointment. "You're still going?"
He raked through his hair, then nodded. "We need provisions before sailing for Jamaica. I'll only be a few hours." He stepped to the door, but turned and pinned her with a hard stare. "But when I return . . ."
"Yes?" Her heart thumped in anticipation of some explicit description of what he would do to her. Oh, but his tongue was naughty in all the right ways.
". . . I expect an explanation."
Izzy drooped against the door, her thoughts racing even though her legs collapsed. This was going to be the shortest second chance in history.

Forget Me Not- Round Robin (week 2)

And if your ready for the story to continue, then let's go. :)
****For the rest of that evening Jenny did as a typical pissed off and depressed woman did when she had too much on her mind. She finished off her wine coolers and ate all the ice cream in the freezer. She really wasn't that upset about Jeff, it was the call from Nick that sent her over the edge.
Eight years ago when he left, he'd taken a piece of her heart. As much as she hated to admit it, every man she'd been with since had been compared to him.
Sure it had been eight years, but the wound was still fresh. It wasn't exactly easy to get over being left without an explanation. If he thought he could just waltz right back in and think she would talk to him, well he had another thing coming.
Now as the morning sun beamed through her windows begging her to get up, Jenny rubbed her forehead trying to massage the headache away. She didn't remember dragging herself to bed. She also wasn't sure why on her pillow sat her phone.
Groaning loudly, Jenny sat up into a sitting position. She unlocked the phone and scrolled through looking for any sign of why the phone was in bed her actual bed and not on the night stand.
"Oh crap."
There was an unfamiliar number that had been dialed, 555-6782. Please tell me I didn't. Leaping from her bed she jetted to the answering machine. Skipping Jeff's message she went right to Nicks.
She did. "Oh God."
Looking back at her cellphone she saw they'd had a twenty minute call. What the hell had she said in that time? Her head hurt to bad to think about it. She needed to pop some ibuprofen and start the coffee. Right as she entered the kitchen her phone dinged that a text message had come in.
Looking forward to lunch today See you at noon at our spot on the beach. - Nick
Damn, this day had just started and already she wanted it over.
****
I hope you come back next Friday.
Tomorrow Ella Jade continues her story, Waves of Change

There isn't a whole lot to tell. Born and raised in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, I now reside about an hour from Washington, D.C.I am a lady who likes to keep busy, and am always busy doing something. With two different college degrees, I believe you are never done learning.Being the first daughter to an avid reader, this gave me the advantage of learning to read at a young age. Since learning to read I have always had my nose in a book. It wasn't until I was a teenager that I started writing down the stories I came up with.
I am blessed with a wonderful supportive husband, Thomas. He is my other half and allows me to stay home and pursue my writing. My writing buddies Max (a cocker spaniel) and Dawne (a beagle mix) are always around to listen to me bounce ideas off them. They might not be able to answer, but they are helpful in their own ways.
I am the owner of Sizzling PR and co-owner of Ruby Lioness Press.

2. What genre do you write?
I started out writing sweet romance but Snowy Fate and my upcoming Live series are paranormal romances

3. Your latest release is titled Snowy Fate. Please tell us a little about it.
Fate always knows when you're ready for love.
The past is catching up with Aspyn Layton. The father she never knew passed away and she is left to deal with his estate.
An unexpected snowstorm has her stranded at the one place she didn't want to be —her father's house —with a naked man.
Damon Andrews has a secret, one he shared with Aspyn's father. He must convince Aspyn there is more to life then what she knows. How will she react when she finds out he is a mountain lion, and she is his mate? Their fates are intertwined.
4. What was the easiest thing and what was the biggest challenge when writing this story?
The easiest thing for me is once I am involved in the story the words just flow, however starting a new story is the hardest. I always have a hard time with the opening and it normally changes a few times. But once I get past that it's hard to get me away from the story.

Yes 2012 is going to be an exciting year. I have the Live series that will be releasing the first three books. Learning to Live, book one, on January 20th. Live and Learn in February, and Fighting to Live in March. I don't have approved blurbs yet but they are a paranormal romance series with shifts. I hope to write more in this series, and have an idea for at least two more books. For more information on this series please watch my website and blog at www.marissadobson.com
6. Advice for those who are actively trying to get published or dream to be.
My best advice is don't give up. Prefect your writing and keep writing. You will get there. Join a writing group, they can be instrumental in helping you polish your work to submit to publishers.
7. What is your current work-in- progress?
My current work in progress is the third book in the Live series, Fighting to Live. It is the story of Chase, Jay's second in command (you will meet Jay in Learning to Live). He finally gets his story and finds true love, but it might be too late. The woman he is meant to be with is dying. Chase makes her want to fight to live; he refuses to allow her to give up. Can Chase save her? Or will he lose her to a battle he can't win?
8. And lastly, is there anything else you'd like to share today?
I want to thank you for having me and for my readers. Without you and your support I wouldn't be where I am today. I love what I do both when it comes to writing and my work in publishing. Thank you.

Forget Me Not - Round Robin (week 1)

*Please note, while I'm an erotic romance writer, this story will be PG-13 since I can't control who comes on this blog and reads.*

Forget Me Not
At the beach, Jenny watched as the tide rolled in. He hadn't shown—once again. Jeff had been standing her up a lot lately and she was beginning to think it just wasn't worth it.
She sat on her towel, picnic basket by her side, and toes bear in the sand. A young couple to her right shared kisses, as they enjoyed the sun setting. Jealousy swept through her since that was exactly what she had hoped her and Jeff would be doing right about now. She'd packed strawberries and whipped cream and a bottle of Jeff's favorite white wine. They would now sit in the basket untouched. Tonight was supposed to be special.
Letting out a loud sigh, she stood and decided there was no point in just sitting there looking stupid. She picked up her black strappy heals, looked back at the towels and basket. Screw it. She walked away from it with a hope Jeff just might show up and find it. As far as she was concerned, she was done with him and done with men. All they ever seemed to do were let her down.
Back at her condo, she was greeted by her calico cat Callie. Perhaps she should have taken the sign when Callie didn't like Jeff. Jenny had always heard cats had a knack for knowing when people were evil. And as far as she was concerned, he was.
A light blinked on her answering machine. It showed two messages. Rolling her eyes, she didn't know if she even cared to listen, but what the heck. She first grabbed a wine cooler from the fridge. Sure, someone could call her pathetic for drinking alone, but she'd just been stood up, for what seemed like the millionth time.
Jenny popped the cap off and took in a long sip. The cool bubbly liquid felt good as it went down her throat. Taking in a deep breath, she finally hit play.
Jenny, you aren't there, shit! I'm not going to make it tonight. I'm sorry.
That was Jeff, of course. He didn't even have the courtesy to call her cell phone, knowing it was always on her. Asshole.
Hey Jen, it's me Nick. I've been thinking about you a lot lately. I'm home now. I've returned from duty and I've decided not to reenlist. I'd love more than anything to catch up. Please call me at 555-6782.
Nick.
Nick had broken her heart a few years back. They'd been exclusive for several years in high school and had all these plans to go to college together. They'd even gotten accepted to the same schools. They had everything planned out. Then one day, Nick decided to join the army and before she even had a chance to find out why, he was gone. She sent letters in the beginning, but never heard back. Now he was back and he wanted to see her. Who the hell did he think he was? What the heck was wrong with men?
