Yesterday was Awesome

For those who might have read my yesterday's post, the morning started with a bad taste. But I am not complaining for the night just made my day. After a long time, I went to an office-cum-disc, well in all senses of the word, it was an office of one of my friends which we manage to transform into a disc cum pub, courtesy my dear friend. Thereafter, what followed couldn't be better described by any other word than "Awesome".

This made me wonder as to how couple of hours can change the whole perception of life. I was all down out and frustrated in the morning, and in the night I seemed to have got the kick of my life. I might be exaggerating it a little bit, might be because it was after a long time that I got to experience "the fun" , but indeed it can be considered as a "life-changer" as far as yesterday was concerned. This makes me wonder how our perceptions and a positive frame of mindset can help us cope with the ambiguities and stresses of our lives.

Positive thinking goes a long way when it comes to improving our health and enables us to live in a better manner. As I always say and believe:

"Live life to the fullest. Kyonki kal ho na ho"

Irritation

First of all I would like to apologize to all those who like my articles for not having written one for quite sometime now. But I am back and can i say with a bang ;) .

Today, I think it was all in the air. All the irritants of life seemed to have hit me. After getting drunk with my friend last night, I got up in the morning with a severe back pain. There was no light in my house, thanks to the state of electricity in our country and the water supply seemed to have been badly hit due to maintenance work (I sometimes wonder why maintenance work in India needs to be done at 8′o clock in the morning).

Since, I was drunk, I slept without calling my gf yesterday. As a consequence, I had to listen to all the music that she had to offer to me on a lovely Sunday morning.Guess what! I decided to do my favorite activity. There is something that gives me immense pleasure when i jot down my thoughts on this blog and indeed it gives me a positive frame of mind when I end up writing. And now I can't help but remember the famous lines from the movie ZNMD:

"Chahat ke do pal bhi mil paaye…..duniya mein ye bhi kam hai kya"

As I have always said: say "Three Cheers to Life" :)

End of an Era: A Tribute to the Man

Stanford or no Stanford, it didn't make much difference to the man. A persona hard to ignore, a personality you woudl die to listen to, a character much child-like and a zeal to be a winner, the man was here to live life on his own terms.

The destiny had very much scripted the story for him, but trust me, it was not an easy one. He too had to face situations where any other person would have succumbed in big time. But there he was, ready to fight his way out of every ambiguous and difficult situation.

He certainly contributed in a big way to what society is at present. He certainly changed the way the business was being done. He certainly changed the way entertainment was being defined.

All in all, a person whom one would want to look upto. A true inspiration indeed. The only thing that I can say is: Three Cheers to the Life that he lived.

Love or Arranged?

I wasn't in any mood to think about marriages, when I was bugged by a phone call. It was none other than my friend Deo, who is desperate to get married and is not able to find a match for himself.

He has this fascination to go for a love marriage and no matter how much his mom tries to persuade him, he is ever adamant on not meeting a girl whom his mom has chosen for him.

While having a conversation with him, I was forced to think about the pros and cons of love and arrange marriages. Without going into the reasoning and logic behind going for one and not the other, at the end of the day, what matters is that one should be able to find happiness in the relationship and I believe a lot depends on how we conduct ourselves and are not rigid enough to be not open to one's partner's point of view.

As you might want to agree with me that marriages or for that matter any relationship is based on give and take and compromise. Compromise or better say, doing something for your partner, shouldn't come across as a forced thing, for if it does then it results in bad taste which might become bad enough and might lead to a divorce, and this can happen in both arrange and love marriage.

So, whether one goes for a love/arrange marriage, he/she should try to find happiness when your partner is happy. This is the billion dollar remedy to all marriage woes, though easier said than done.

Well, in my case, I think I am destined for a love marriage and you? ;)

When Down and Out Take a Break

The post heading might resemble the tagline of a famous advertisement, "Take a Break Take a KitKat", but coming to the point, we all face situations in our lives where we feel really exhausted and that's the time to take a breather.

In this competitive world, where each one of us is keen on pursuing materialistic accomplishments to the extent of draining ourselves out, we hardly find time to calm down and relax and think how beautiful our lives can be if we just become adept at balancing our professional and personal lives. When feeling really down, one should skip things that he/she had been doing and instead pursue things that interest him/her.

Today, I got up in the morning and jotted down few things that I would certainly want to do before I extinguish from this planet earth like a phoenix. That's my way of defining pleasure and happiness. What's yours?

It's All About Loving Your Parents

Today was by far one of the best mornings that I have had for sometime now. What made it special was a smile on my parent's faces when I went to receive them at the railway station today.

They had just come back after visiting my brother in US. And guess what they had an amazing time there because of the places they visited and more so because my brother had bestowed them with the news of their lives, yes! they have become grandparents :) . Well! on second thoughts you can all wish me for having become an uncle myself :) .

I guess as a son, I feel very happy and gratified that God has given my brother and me an opportunity where we can make our parents happy or at least try to make them happy. This reminds me of the famous tag line that Karan Johar has used: "Its all about loving your parents".

All guys out there who have turned selfish and individualistic, and have forgotten what all their parents had gone through to raise them, I would like to make a sincere request to all of them. Guys, trust me, this is the most amazing feeling that you can ever get in your life seeing your parents happy and getting things they always deserved in life and were not able to get just because they wanted to raise you guys in a manner which suited you the most.

So, don't mock them by forgetting all that they have done for you and pay homage and respect to their sacrifices and efforts that they had taken in bringing you up.

Role of Media in our Society

Have you ever wondered why the media chose to report on BJP President Gadkari's health and not the mystery behind Sonia Gandhi? It is strange that after an initial mention of the same, the news just disappeared from the media channels never to be reported thereafter.

I wonder whether media has all been sold out and what motivates them at the end of the day is the TRP apart from the political and corporate influence which the media seems to be surrounded with at all times.

The coverage of things like a kid falling in a pit hole seems to be occupying most of the time of certain news channels, especially the Hindi News Channels, which have such a large viewer base.

Sometimes, I wonder whether media, which is supposed to be acting as the fourth arm of our constitution, will ever be able to fulfill its role meaningfully, or whether it will ever be caught in the number game.

Materialism vis-a-vis Sustainability

Today, in the morning, I happened to have a discussion on a topic that I had never talked about earlier as I saw no reason in discussing the same, with one of my friends, and fortunately or unfortunately an animal cum environmental activist at the same time.

The first thing that hit me was the devotion that she had towards animals' cause and dogs in particular and I was reminded of none other than Maneka Gandhi. I could well visualize the making of another MG.

I was perplexed as to why one would be so interested in animals and environment when there was so much to do for the old and the young ones in our country, and who could clear my doubt but the junior MG: "because you gotta realize that animals cannot vouch for themselves as well as the humans and it is we humans who are responsible for their plight by intruding into their privacy and converting their territory into an urban jungle….."

She went on and on with her reasoning and it was only after 10 minutes that she took a deep breath. After hearing all what she had to say, I was forced to wonder as to whether human activities and what we all would love to call development is in ways harming our environment and indeed disturbing the ecological balance that has sustained all our lives from times immemorial.

At the end of the whole conversation, the only question that I had in my mind was: "By following a highly materialistic and selfish lifestyle, aren't we doing injustice to our children and the generations to follow? If yes, do we have the courage to give away our luxurious lifestyle and adopt simplicity in life?"
