New Scattered Dark Release – Alpha

Second in The Scattered Dark Series, Alpha introduces the lovely, empowered Alaine, who wants improbable love, under impossible circumstances.
About Alpha
When domme Alaine Dunham meets beautiful, young werewolf Seth, she dreams of training him to be the perfect bottom to fill her Alpha needs. She quickly finds that gentling the wild wolf is one thing; subduing the rebellious human is another. Tensions mount as the full moon pushes them to consummate their bond before relationship concerns are soothed.
When a strange book falls into Alaine’s hands she begins to doubt her relationship, her instincts, and the moon.
From Alpha
A wolf. Alaine Dunham didn’t have to see him for that familiar life force to course through hers, for her body to ache to be near his—the telltale signs. Several years had passed since those sensations last sizzled up her spine, thudded behind her ribs, pooled hot and wet at her cunt, and she relished them. Scouting him from her vantage point on the stage, seeing his wild allure, got her even hotter. The dark man clutched the hand of Hostess Kisha. Her rainbow-plaited head bobbed, a kaleidoscope beacon glinting under the strobing lights as she squinted and guided them through the fray on the glittering dance floor. The shifter pressed through the crowd with his shoulders squared and jaw jutted forward. A lock of wavy black hair obscured his eyes. His swagger betrayed that he was young, anxious, needy, though the power that emanated from him told her he was not newly made. Dancing clubbers parted and stared in his wake. Alaine jumped down from the stage and waited for him to find her, as he most certainly would. She busied her trembling hands by slapping a cat-o-nine against her thigh. The welts that rose on her skin distracted her from the aching want between her legs. Licking her lips, she sighed and slowed her slamming pulse. If she was half the top she and the patrons of Malice in Fundaland thought she was, he’d be trained to knot in no time. Finally, a worthy conquest. Shaking her ponytail down her back, she pulled her shoulders up and greeted Kisha. The waifish hostess clasped Alaine’s hand and kissed her cheek, conservative affection considering they had tribbed all afternoon, culminating with the caramel-complexioned beauty creaming on her face around sundown. Fraternizing amongst staff was forbidden, so they kept their bennie trysts secret. Smiling, she tucked a colorful ringlet behind Kisha’s ear and nodded to the lovely man. “Mistress,” Kisha started, “this is Seth. He’s a regular on the scene, though it’s his first time in Malice.” His gaze roved over Alaine as the smaller woman spoke. “He asked for you. He knows the best when he sees it.” “Ah.” She resisted the urge to rap his thigh with the flail handle. “I’m booked out several nights. Hostess Kisha can get you on the books for another evening.” The wolf’s piercing gaze met hers, though his long lashes fluttered and his voice wavered. “Nice to meet you, thanks. For now, I’ll watch.” Enjoy Book One: Journal of a Lycanthrophile.

“The Fangirl’s Dream,” in Review
“I actually really enjoyed The Fangirl’s Dream even though the length was less than 50 pages. We received enough detail to understand that Siler is a public defender; a job that doesn’t allow time for dating. She seeks out the services of Madam Eve to make her dream of meeting her favorite tv star come true. The events that unfold take us to a different location altogether where we get to witness Siler’s reality at meeting her hero – in the jungle – on the set of her favorite show. There are a couple of steamy sex scenes which, after all, was why Siler sought out Madame Eve’s assistance. The ending isn’t a happily ever after but the story is ended on a sweet note alluding to a potential HEA in Siler’s future.
If you enjoy plot twists, alternate reality-type stories, and a little bit of steam, I would certainly suggest this 1 Night Stand (1NS) novella.”

An illegally made vampire in his father’s Nosferatu army, Prince Skyy Hi’daat leaves the city of Nocturne for the lush alien domain beyond. He finds this world filled with exotic inhabitants who would just as readily kill him as look at him. He is unprepared for the desire he feels in facing the werewolf that is supposed to be his natural enemy. Ravished and then rescued, his vengeance knows no bounds for the creature that dared put his filthy paws upon him.
Cathedron is the city of Arachnae’s greatest champion. On a deadly stealth mission to infiltrate Nocturne and discover the source of the infection that is eating the world, he finds he cannot help but hunt Nocturne’s gorgeous dark prince. Skyy’s scent ignites his desires in a way that is strictly criminal. Remembrances of Skyy’s body fires his blood against every law, against his own common sense. The wolf is determined to have the vampire again and make Skyy his forever.
Against the heat of the passion that threatens to consume them both, Nyw’Gaia is dying. An ancient darkness is infecting the denizens of the world and killing everything in its path. Their love is forbidden, but only their love can save Nyw’Gaia now.
About the Author:
Raquel Taylor enjoys writing love stories with an erotic edge. Secretly, and under a crazy pseudonym, she writes multitudes of homoerotic fanfiction based on myriad anime worlds. She does this for the love of the written word. She does this for the love of the carefully crafted worlds and characters that others have created. Most importantly, she does it in order to satisfy a need she sees in the readers of fanfiction.
Outside of this rather clandestine operation, Raquel writes love and erotica in whatever form that pleases her. She truly believes that love conquers all. With pen and keyboard she creates worlds where only love can bring light to the darkness. She creates lovers who need one another and she brings them to readers who want to experience those worlds and those people.
She writes for the love of it, against all odds. And she will never stop creating.

Hangout with 1NS Authors – Celebrating 200 One Night Stands!!
That’s right–Decadent Publishing crosses a milestone in its history this month, publishing the two-hundredth novella in its flagship series, 1NS (1 Night Stand). The series features the elusive Madame Eve, who deals in making dreams come true, by virtue of one-night-stands. Sounds pretty damn good, yeah?
It all started with Valeria Mann’s To Feel Again, which progressed to Kate Richard’s The Virgin & The Playboy. The succession of stories has taken readers to alternate realities, the past, the future. It’s brought heartache and healed wounds. Dreams have come true, appetites have been sated. Paranormal, fantasy, contemporary, interracial… Truly, there’s something for everyone in this series, and I know, because I’m one of its lucky authors.
So, I’ve got a treat for you! Decadent is throwing a HUGE bash to celebrate the event. From 14-26 October, tons of Decadent authors will be hosting every celebration imaginable, including, yes a Rafflecopter giveaway!! SO be sure to enter, and stop by all of the sites participating in the festivities!
How am I celebrating? Well, Tuesday 15 October at 9pm EST (tomorrow night), I’m hosting a special live on-air Hangout featuring the series creator, and some of its best-known authors.
Those of you who love 1NS, you won’t want to miss it, and for those of you who have never ventured into that unbridled territory, this is your chance to meet the authors and publishers, and have them answer your questions about the series, and its magickal inspiration!
See you there, and don’t forget to enter to win goodies! ;)

Lucky 13 Trick-or-Treat Blog Hop

Heather Long put this little celebration together, and she thought it out really well! It’s essentially two Hops in one. Some sites will provide tricks, while others will provide treats. Which do you think I have?
Let’s talk about the number thirteen first. First off, for many Pagans 13 isn’t just lucky, it’s sacred. Most early cultures followed a lunar calendar, rather than a solar one. The moon made–you guessed it–thirteen lunations in a year.
Enough about la luna, let’s talk prizes:
Kindle PaperWhite
Treat Bundle – Paranormal, Science Fiction, BDSM or Suspense stories from Hop authors
Trick Bundle – Sweet romance, inspirational, contemporary or historical from Hop authors
Individual Prizes from each blog hop stop (Trick or a Treat)
So you see, each stop has something unique to offer. What a fabulous idea? Isn’t Heather brilliant?
If you haven’t figured it out yet… I’m all about the trick site. I thought about playing it sweet and offering something a little more precious, but fuck that. It’s The Dark Time. It’s balls-out or get out. So, without further ado,

Me, on Karen Swart’s Blog
Karen was a wonderful hostess!
When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?
I considered myself a writer when I was about four years old. My mother transcribed stories for me, before I learned the alphabet. Considering myself an author has been a very different road, though. I published my first book 9 years ago, 8 books and 5 anthologies later, it’s taken me a long time to adjust what I thought being an author would look like, and realize how it really looks.
How long did it take to get your first book published?
My first book ever, it took a year. My first erotic release took about 3 months.
What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?
The Fangirl’s Dream is everyone’s fantasy of meeting their favorite hot fictional lover.
Who is your publisher? Or do you self-publish?
I have worked with a few publishers, and also self-published. I really enjoy working with Decadent Publishing. They provide a great community of support to their authors and really understand that community is what solidifies relationships and fosters growth. Publishing independently has given me a greater appreciation for that community, and also enabled me to expand my skills in production.
How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?
On average, it takes me about a month to write a shorter manuscript. Getting it into shape to submit, then jump the hoops of revisions and resubmitting is another timeline, all together.
What can we expect from you in the future? ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?
I have really enjoyed writing interracial erotica, which I will likely continue to write. I want to verge more into intergendered characters, people whose lives are on the line in a very visceral and inescapable way. I‘m also interested in exploring diverse relationships dynamics in poly relationships.
Do you read all the reviews of your book/books?
I doubt that I do. I read some, though I’ve learned that usually isn’t informative in a helpful way. I think often authors look to reviews for feedback on their writing, which is a huge mistake. That’s what beta readers and revisions are for. Reviews from readers aren’t for authors. They’re for other readers, and you can only hope that the reviews are fair.
How do you come up with characters names and place names in your books?
Usually the characters and places are essential to the plot, so it all comes to me at once.
Are character names and place names decided after their creation? Or do you pick a character/place name and then invent them?
Do you decide on character traits (ie shy, quiet, tomboy girl) before writing the whole book or as you go along? Elements of writing a book come to me like a paintball splatter, all at once, and often in a jumble. Usually character traits drive the plot in some way, so they are there from the beginning. Things like being a nail-biter may flesh out as the plot evolves, but big traits, like being a Dominatrix, wanting release, or needing to save others are there from the beginning.
Are there any hidden messages or morals contained in your books? (Morals as in like Aesops Fables type of “The moral of this story is..”)
If I answer that, they won’t be hidden anymore! But yes. Everything I write has layered meanings, intentionally. I often write Readers Guides to my books, to engage readers in their thoughts on the books, and to learn their relationships to them. I’ve always enjoyed that part of reading a great book, and I like to lace little interesting bits throughout my own.
Which format of book do you prefer, eBook, hardback, or paperback?
Wow. This is s hard one. I prefer hardback, though I live in the sustainability mindset and find ebooks more in line with my lifestyle. It’s been hard for me to make that transition. Now that I have, it’s really challenging for me to read a physical book. I’m more likely to read digitally, if at all.
What is your favorite book and Why? Have you read it more than once?
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Southern fiction is not particularly on my radar, though this book is perfect. I’ve read it at least three times, and every time I’m astounded by what a fantastic example of writing it is. She not only nails every theme the book touches on, but she actually crafted a story and characters that support it completely, start to finish. It is an absolutely perfect novel.
Do you think books transfer to movies well? Which is you favorite/worst book to movie transfer?
On the whole, I think book-to-film sucks. I understand that the mechanics that make a book work are not what enable a film to progress properly. Those kinds of changes I can deal with. Ones based on box office draw and dumbing down really bother me. For instance,Carrie and To Kill a Mockingbird are great adaptations. The Lovely Bones and the Narniaseries, not so much. And often, it’s not that the entire film got it wrong, but the last 10-15 minutes of the film unravels the best of the book.
Your favorite food is?
I don’t have a favorite food, so much as favorite food genre: Asian food. I’m gluten-free, and for the most part, Asian foods are perfect for my food needs, and they are divine. I could live in shrimp fried rice, butter chicken, and roasted lamb with zatar and olives. Now you got me started. I might even have to cut his interview, short now. Wow.
Your favorite singer/group is?
All-time favorite is U2, old school. Now, I’m not so much about a specific artist or group. I like just about anything that isn’t country or jazz. I know, how uncool of me. But there you go.

Sweet Review of “The Fangirl’s Dream”
From Escape Into a Book:
“While everyone wanted Andre, Siler had her eyes on the bad-ass, yet carin Farraj. Siler is a Public Defender who is too busy to put herself out there to date. To get it out of her system SIler goes a matchmaker to set her up with someone like Farraj little did she know she would end up with him but also in his tv world.Sweet
This book is fun, short, unique, and steamy. If you could meet your favorite character and have a one night stand with who would you choose? what confused yet interested me was when I couldnt tell what was real or not. Overall I enjoyed this short book and look forward to seeing more from this author.”

My Interview at Pembroke Sinclair’s Blog

The Fangirl’s Dream is everyone’s fantasy of meeting their fictional lover. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to meet a hot character from a book, TV show, or film, you’ll love this book.I wrote it to play around with the idea that fangirls are crazed and incapable of engaging on topics other than their obsession. Who hasn’t been there, to some degree? We’ve all been totally engrossed in a show or book, to the point that we lived and breathed it for a time. Siler Dunham, my character brings all the funniest and best traits of fangirls, and her TV boyfriend, Farraj Reza, gives them fantasy release with a little ingenuity and integrity. Because, after all, who knows best how to please her man, but his fangirl?Q) How long did it take you to write?
About two weeks. I started the year on a very tight writing schedule, and I got this and several other projects done very quickly. Fangirl was a fun and light piece to write.Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Total emersion in a completely different experience. I love being so into the story that it just flows out. That’s what I call mezzofiction—it’s me, but it’s not my experience, my life. It’s just fantastic. Can you tell I love writing? Words, words, more please!Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Lack of time. I’ve gotten really good at time management, yet life still intervenes. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to get all the words out of my head.Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Probably Honey Boo Boo. I don’t have cable or satellite, so I don’t know much about television culture when it’s happening. I see it in the rearview on the Internet. I had to look up who she was. What in the world must her life be like? Is she happy? Is she loved? It boggles the mind. I just wonder what her life is really like.Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Honestly, a couple of bottles of alcohol and some beer. People bring it when they visit, and past the initial opening, there it sits. I don’t drink much at all, and booze tends to collect dust around my house. Did I lose cool points for that?Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I’ve got several works in progress. At the fore is wrapping the second book in the Scattered Dark series, Alpha, which will be out in time for spooky season this year. This series is a different and very dark take on shifters, and Book One, Journal of a Lycanthrophile has gotten fantastic response. This series is considerably more graphic than anything else I’ve published, verging on horror, but not in the way most fans of shifterfic would think. I see this arc of this series wrapping at Book Three, though there could be more. I also hope to have a intergendered romance completed, soon.

Great Review of “The Fangirl’s Dream”
“This was certainly different from the other 1NS books I’ve read. Still good, just different. Siler is a fan of the TV show “Endangered” along with all her friends. Her fantasy is having the main character, Farraj, to herself for one night. She gets her fantasy and a lttle more than she bargained for. I really can’t say much more than that without giving a lot way. But if you’ve ever dreamed of something like that, and really, who hasn’t? This is a great book to read. It’s entertaining, witty, has a clever main character and a sexy hunk for the dream guy. “
