Best parody Songs Of 2020, Via The Holderness Family

Imma be honest, this got me through the end of last week :’D

The video’s long, but don’t be intimidated: it’s a highlights reel of their main music video channel, so you can stop the video at any point to fit the time you have/care to invest.

Humour is so variable, but I was actually laughing at loud at many of these 🙂

What’s getting you through this week?

Grab An Early Copy Of Bones Of The Sea (Kickstarter)

Yay! The next Kickstarter is live! This one is the one I was hoping to launch a month ago, for Dreaming Of Forests and Bones Of The Sea.

I feel like I should pitch this more effectively but honestly this has been a week full of grey fog and black dogs, so… go check out the campaign? It’s pretty and I made graphics? There are outdoor adventure fantasy books? You can get both ebooks for only $6AU?! Yay?!! 🙂

To read an excerpt from Dreaming Of Forest, go here, and for Bones Of The Sea go...

New Inklet: Nature vs Nurture

Inklets, hey. It’s almost like we release them twice a month or something, with how regularly I feel like I’m posting about them at the moment! :’D

Anyway, March 1’s Inklet is Nature vs. Nurture, a short lil slipstream story of mine, slipstream I think being the correct term for a story that’s TECHNICALLY sci fic, but only with a very light touch.

Parent-teacher interviews: a teacher’s worse nightmare.

Especially with a parent like Alison Young.

Can this teacher find a way to s...

Made-It Monday: It’s Cake!

Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!

This week, a gluten-free chocolate mud cake with strawberry fill...

A Fresh Start?

It’s late in the year for this, officially, but unofficially, it’s never too late to make a fresh start. And I’m finally nearly almost kind of sort of scraping together enough brainpower to come up for air and start planning again, so for ME this is timely 😀

I finished all my Aurealis Award reading yesterday, and a couple of major projects for work are done or nearly done. Of course, there is no shortage of projects waiting to take their place, but I’m also nearly to March 6, which is my time...

Garden Update Slightly Delayed But Patreon Is Back

Urgh. I tried to post the Feb garden update here, but due to Technical Issues(TM) this will be delayed until next week.

In the meantime, I spent an hour on a bibliography + page numbers today for a resource for work (super excited about this upcoming unit on food sustainability, woo!), which chewed up most of what free time I had. Which, fine, it needed to be done, but urgh. Many things UNdone.

This evening, though, I spent time loading some Patreon posts, double woo!! My Patreon has be...

Wotcha Up To?

Not much to add on the back of yesterday’s post, really. Moon Shot remains outlined, and I haven’t started the (re)writing of it yet. Bones Of The Sea is stalled, mostly because I’m still recovering from the intense 14 weeks of insomnia and trying to catch up with school work. I also have edits due soon that I need to move faster on, so you know.

Two weeks. In two weeks, we have a long weekend here, and I have scrawled all across in my diary in capital letters, NO. DO NOT SCHEDULE HERE.

On Structuring Plot: A List Of Useful Resources + My Recent Process

I was asked on Instagram last week how I go about structuring my stories, whether there’s a set way I like to do it, or if it’s different for every story, or what. I promised an answer last week, and that didn’t happen, but hey! It is this week and now I can answer! 😀

The truth of the matter is, I feel very self-conscious about plot structure. It’s the area of writing I’m least comfortable with, and so my attempts either end up with me just writing and ignoring structure entirely (A Fox Of St...
