Vikings season 4. Ragnar or Rollo? Who will survive?

Vikings season 4 will consist of 20 episodes, and these episodes will be split up into two mini-seasons over the course of 2016. Thus, fans couldn’t see what happens between Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and his problematic brother Rollo (Clive Standen) until later in the year.

Vikings season 4. Ragnar and Rollo

Vikings season 4. Ragnar and Rollo

Rollo is handsome and brave but betrayal is something that comes naturally to him. In previous seasons of Vikings, Rollo has betrayed his brother Ragnar, his religion and his friends. What will he do now? Will he defend Paris against Ragnar or he will join his brother in the last minute? In episode 1 of Vikings season 4, we saw a cruel Rollo, who kills all the vikings left in Paris.

Ragnar is much more intelligent than Rollo, and he loves him. He could forgive Rollo or start a great fight, maybe the biggest fight we’ve ever had on our small screen. What do you think? What do you expect from Vikings season 4? Tell us your opinion now!

Rollo is based on a historical person, who eventually becomes the first ruler of Normandy.

Rollo’s tattoos. See video! Vikings season 4 rocks!

Legends say that Ragnar dies at the hands of King Aelle, because he was thrown into a pit of venomous snakes. Then, Ragnar’s sons formed the Great Heathen Army to attack England. But these facts couldn’t appear in Vikings season 4 and Ragnar could very well defeat his brother in battle… We must wait and see!

The fourth season of the Canadian-Irish historical drama television series Vikings premiered on February 18, 2016 on History in Canada and in the United States. The series is inspired by the tales of the raiding, trading, and exploring Norsemen of early medieval Scandinavia. Season 4 of Vikings is currently airing on the History Channel every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET.

Bonhams sales an exceptional group of Indian miniature paintings

Bonhams has announced that an exceptional group of Indian miniature paintings will be at the heart of its Indian, Himalayan & Southeast Asian art sale taking place during New York’s Asia Week on Monday, 14 March 2016 at 4pm. With a total sale estimate of $4-6 million, the sale consists of a selective offering, focused on rarity, quality, and provenance.

Bonhams sales an exceptional group of Indian miniature paintings

On the rising market for Indian miniatures, Edward Wilkinson, US Director of Indian, Himalayan & Southeast Asian Art, commented “Domestic auction results of 2015 in India testified to a sudden surge in demand for miniatures, indicating that now is the time to buy, before the rising tide continues to increase the price one must pay for quality.”

Leading the sale, is a beautiful painting from the famed Kangra Rasikapriya, once in the collection of Abdur Rahman Chughtai (1897-1975). Chughtai, who many consider to be the first significant modern Muslim artist from South Asia was heavily inspired by miniature paintings.  The Kangra Rasikapriya was produced under the supervision of master court artist Purkhu (active ca. 1780–1820), and the skilled landscape and large figures may indicate his hand in this painting. It illustrates a poem exploring the emotions and behaviors of lovers in all forms and stages. This painting depicts Chapter 3, Verses 45-47, wherein Radha’s response to Krishna’s unfaithfulness has matured from outburst to self-affirmed dissatisfaction. Now she is the dhira, the canniest lover, who has learnt to better express her disappointment with a cold shoulder, or well-timed sarcasm. Folio 48 from the Kangra Rasikapriya, from the school of Purkhu, Kangra, circa 1810 is estimated at $40,000-60,000.

Also formerly from the collection of Abdur Rahman Chughtai, and complementing the Kangra Rasikapriya painting is another of Radha and Krishna from the contemporaneous Guler court. Divine Loveplay Under Moonlight, circa 1810, is estimated at $30,000-40,000. An almost identical version is held in the Collection of the Bharat Kala Bhavan, Varanasi, and reproduced in M.S. Randhawa’s important publication, Kangra Paintings on Love, New Delhi, 1962, Colorplate XIX, p. 185. The painting illustrates a poem in Gurmukhi, which is inscribed on the top of the Bharat Kala version. In it, Radha is described as teasing her lover by painting her chest like a bodice instead of actually wearing one. When Krishna suavely motions to untie its strings behind her back, he fumbles awkwardly. She turns her head aside, hardly able to contain her mischief.

Meanwhile from Rajasthan, there is a vibrant painting from an early school, long misattributed to the small Mughal principality of Malwa, that has recently received an explosion of scholarly and market interest. Scholarship by expert Konrad Seitz has convincingly reattributed the ‘Malwa school’ to the Bundela courts at Orchha, Datia, and Panna in his recent landmark book Orchha, Datia, Panna: “Malwa”- Miniaturen von den rajputischen Hofen Bundelkhands, 1580-1850, Cologne, 2015.  From a well-known illustrated Ramayana, the painting for sale depicts Hanuman knocking Ravan’s brother, the great demon Kumbhakarna, to the ground. Typical of Orchha’s spirited charm, the narrative here is intensified by a brilliant red background juxtaposed with complementary colors. An illustration from a Ramayana series: Kumbhakarna Downed by Hanuman’s Blow, Orchha, circa 1550-1660, is estimated $8,000-12,000.

The sale also features a painting from a celebrated Bhagavata Purana series from Bikaner, circa 1700-10, famed for its truly miniature proportions. It shows, Krishna and Balram dispatching an emissary to seek out the welfare of the Pandava brothers, seen clustered together at centre far right. Ambitiously scaled yet meticulously detailed, colour and pose create a remarkable sense of intimacy within each palatial scene. Two paintings from the same series are held in the Centre for Cultural Studies & Research at Varanasi, within the prized Suresh Noetia collection.

The Bonhams Indian, Himalayan & Southeast Art sale will take place on Monday 14 March 2016 at 4pm.

My mom played tennis for, like, six hours a day and went to college on a tennis scholarship, because that was the way she could go to school. So they instilled in me the idea that you have to work hard for the things you want in life and never complain.

I think I was a Japanese schoolgirl in another life. That’s how much I love Hello Kitty.

Today, ten things you should know about Deadpool film:

Deadpool is a 2016 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is the eighth installment of the X-Men film series.

The movie was directed by Tim Miller. Remember that Miller was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film as co-story writer and executive producer of the short animated film Gopher Broke (2004).

“It’s funny, because there are so many stereotypes out there about actors and movie stars in general, but I’ve had a great opportunity to meet a lot of them, and maybe it’s just because they don’t behave that way around me, but I rarely see that kind of abuse of power.” Ryan Reynolds.

Deadpool focus on Wade Wilson, who hunts the man who gave him an accelerated healing factor, but also a scarred physical appearance.

The movie premiered in Paris on February 8, 2016, but it was released on February 12, 2016, in US in IMAX, DLP, D-Box and premium large formats.

Toledo Museum of Art Celebrates Glass Legacy

Toledo Museum of Art celebrates glass legacy with hot spot: Contemporary Glass from Private Collections. Objects from studio glass collectors on view April 15 through Sept. 18, 2016, in the Glass Pavilion.

Hot Spot: Contemporary Glass from Private Collections showcases contemporary North American, European, Australian and Asian studio glass, with many objects on public view for the first time. The exhibition of more than 80 diverse works of art will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Toledo Museum of Art’s SANAA-designed Glass Pavilion as well as shine a light on the impressive and storied glass legacy at TMA.

Artists represented in the exhibition, including glass pioneer Harvey Littleton, underline TMA’s role in the development of the American Studio Glass movement. It was in a garage on the Museum’s grounds in 1962 where Littleton, then a pottery instructor, received the support of TMA Director Otto Wittmann to conduct a glass workshop to explore molten glass in a studio setting rather than a factory. An experimental furnace was built, and though initial attempts to fuse molten glass failed, with assistance from artist and master glass craftsman Dominick Labino on furnace construction, the artists were able to realize the fundamental requirements for this new studio technique.

In 1969, TMA became the first museum to build a facility and studio dedicated to and designed specifically for teaching glass technique.

“Toledo is the American Glass City and the Toledo Museum of Art, as a major player in the history of studio glass as an art form, is committed to nurturing innovative contemporary glass artists through its collections, programs and facilities,” said Jutta Page, TMA’s curator of glass and decorative arts. “This exhibition is the perfect way to reflect on current directions in the studio glass movement in the U.S. as well as studio glass from around the world, with particular attention given to highlighting glass artists not currently represented in TMA’s collection.”

Hot Spot will be on view throughout the Glass Pavilion galleries from April 15 through Sept. 18, 2016. Glass works will be featured in eight thematic groups – the human figure, animals, plants, landscapes, vessel forms, the spirit world, abstract forms and space – and will include works of art rarely on view from private glass collections.

Among the artists included in the exhibition are Joyce Scott, Nicholas Africano, Tom Moore, Kimiake Higuchi, Preston Singletary, Debora Moore, Tobias Møhl and more.

The exhibition is made possible by 2016 Exhibition Program Sponsor ProMedica.

The Toledo Museum of Art’s landmark Glass Pavilion was designed by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, lead architects of SANAA, the Pritzker Prize-winning architecture firm based in Tokyo, and joined the architecturally distinctive TMA campus in 2006. The exterior and many of the interior walls of the 74,000-square-foot Glass Pavilion are made entirely of glass. Itself a work of art, the Glass Pavilion serves as both a museum housing TMA’s renowned glass holdings and as a studio.

Sunday Poetry with Gypsy Woman, Jenean C. Gilstrap. Today: lost

lost

you say

you cannot find them

that they are missing

lost

words

that are lost

has your vision

taken flight

in the dark

silent night

then

try

the silence

the silence in-between

the music and the song

the silence where words

are born of windswept dreams

and die to sounds of silent screams

try

the in-between

where lips are wrapped in liquid gold

and suffer not the frigid cold

where lips speak only from the heart

you’ll know then where to start

in-between

the

silence
