New York exhibitions. Lynne Harlow at Minus Space
MINUS SPACE is thrilled to present the exhibition Lynne Harlow: Ask the Sky, Baker Bridge Road. This is the Providence, Rhode Island-based artist’s third solo exhibition at the gallery and it will feature a site-sensitive installation investigating a single color as it relates to space, material, and sensation.

Lynne Harlow at Minus Space
Lynne Harlow’s Baker Bridge Road series consists of ten new works that respond to a specific pale pink color used by Bauhaus architect Walter Gropius (1883-1969) on an exterior wall of the house he designed and built for his family at 68 Baker Bridge Road in Lincoln, Massachusetts in 1938. Wishing to reduce the glare from the sun on the second floor deck of the house, Gropius recruited his friend and colleague, artist Lyonel Feininger to create a color that Gropius characterized as reflected light at dusk. Although only slightly discernable from the rest of the house’s primarily all-white exterior, the wall was painted Feininger’s delicate pink color in 1949. This singular color, as well as its complex relationship with its surrounds, is the point of departure for Harlow’s Baker Bridge Road installation.
Arranged according to a precise visual and material progression, the exhibition will present works that evolve from compact and dense in nature to light and ethereal in appearance. For these works, Harlow employs a broad array of divergent materials, including Plexiglas, LED-lit acrylic, paper, fabric, paint, and projected light. The largest work included in the exhibition, which consists simply of pink light projected on a white wall, most closely approaches Gropius’ original color association: reflected light at dusk.
About her body of work, Harlow questions, “How little is enough? How much can be taken away before a piece crumbles?” She continues, “I arrive at my pieces by reducing physical and visual information. This process of reduction, a steady taking away, is ultimately intended to be an act of generosity. In each piece I’m looking for the point at which these reductions allow me to give the most. It’s an appealing contradiction because it prompts one to reconsider the concept of abundance and the nature of giving.”
Exhibition runs from February 27 to April 9, 2016.

Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill as Batman and Superman
“This character matters so much to so many people. I want to get that right. I want to do it justice. I want people to believe in the character and have faith in the character and kids to grow up wanting to be Superman. Or, God forbid, there’s people who are going through hardship and wishing that this character would turn up and save them.” Henry Cavill.

“I’m much more interested in what an actor has to say about something substantial and important than who they’re dating or what clothes they’re wearing or some other asinine, insignificant aspect of their life.” Ben Affleck.
The film is directed by Zack Snyder, with a screenplay written by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer. Pre-production started at East Los Angeles College in October 2013, and principal photography began in May 2014 in Detroit, Michigan. Additional filming was in Chicago, Illinois. People ask for this life, but they don’t really understand what comes with it. People just see the outside and that looks good – big houses, cars, girls, but you never see how the person is feeling deep down inside. Me personally, being a man, I’m going to feel better displaying all of this and pouring my heart out on each record.
Bow Wow
I was born with no money. So when people talk about Bow Wow being rich his whole life, I don’t know where they get that.

Osage is pleased to present works by Au Hoi Lam, Roberto Chabet and Tintin Wulia at Art Basel Hong Kong 2016 from March 24, 2016 to March 26, 2016.

Osage at Art Basel Hong Kong
Important works by Roberto Chabet will be exhibited at Osage Gallery Hong Kong from March 15 2016 to March 29 2016.
AU Hoi Lam: Memorandum: Memorandum comprises a series of new paintings and mixed media works embodying exercises in states of reminiscence and oblivion, based on the artist’s ruminations over minute trivialities. The paintings, mixed media work and objects are likened to notebooks that have been written in and over, or like a tableau waiting to be filled with drawings.
Roberto Chabet: Cargo and Decoy. Cargo and Decoy is large-scale plywood installation created by Roberto. This artwork is colored by the artist’s experience during WWII. The material choice of plywood is significant as it emblematizes reconstruction. Plywood’s ability to flip-flop between being a surface and object is also fully embraced by Chabet to suggest the problematic representation of art.
Tintin Wulia: Five Tonnes of Homes and Other Understories: Tintin Wulia’s Five Tonnes of Homes and Other Understories is a new large scale multi-media installation. The work is an artefact of the artist’s year-long intervention into the informal micro-economy of the cardboard recycling network in Central, Hong Kong. Under the canopy of a vast and globalised industry of cardboard recycling, the artist’s intervention bends light onto a local uniqueness of this particular recycling network.Tintin’s Film Within the Leaves, a Sight of the Forest will be screening on 23 March 3 pm, agnès b. Cinema Hong Kong Arts Centre.
Roberto Chabet exhibition at Osage Gallery: This exhibition features Chabet’s seminal artworks including To Be Continued, the China Collage Series and Imagined Geographies series, which are now a valuable legacy and resource for those interested in the history of conceptual art in Southeast Asia, as well as continuous inspiration for the global art scene to explore alternative forms and ways of thinking.
Roberto Chabet (1937-2013) is often referred to as the Father of Philippine Conceptual Art, is highly regarded for his experimental works, ranging from paintings, drawings, collages, sculptures, and installations.
