A Christmas trailer for This Brilliant Darkness

My final for Holly Black's Tithe. I still don't understand text at all, but maybe this is a step up from where it was at before? Hmm… not sure if I'm happy with this.

Nanowrimo Day 10:
I realized today I really haven't been giving Harlow the backstory that he needs. He requires a bit more unpacking than I've given him so far, so I really let go on his chapter, and ended up writing about three times what I have been, so far.
Significant bump, then:
In an uber-ridiculous move that might be deserving of its own cartoon, I spent at least 45 minutes searching through the email and associated google docs & notebooks of my previous email address trying to find character background information that I wrote over three years ago, for a minor player in the backstory of this book.
Frustrated, all I could find were old, horrid chapters of This Brilliant Darkness that are better left buried. I remember distinctly making note cards in Google Notes for each of my new characters in Troll or Derby. I remember telling my friend Amy about them, over coffee, and espousing how great Google Notes were going to be in helping me organize my thoughts.
It was not until I was gathering my thoughts about how to best present the comic irony of having hidden this precious thing I needed *so well* that I couldn't find it, that I remembered "Shit, I have a third account I'd set up just for keeping track of my work." I immediately rushed back down to my dungeon and logged in. Sure enough, there it is.
And that settles a lot more questions, too. Some of my non-fiction stuff that's coming out soon has been residing in this "backup" account, as well. But enough about that. You ain't here to hear about that.
Today I'm assigning myself the task of sitting down with these character notes, and re-drawing the snowflake I'd begun a million years ago in a notebook on my lap in my Volvo station wagon outside my kids' school. I know where the story is going, I know what the in-betweens are, but since I added a second narrator, I don't think I've remapped it. So that's what's on the slate today.
THEN, I need to do a little tweaking to the hard copy version of This Brilliant Darkness. The proof showed up last night, which was super SQUEE-worthy, but I don't like how I formatted it, so…it's probably going to lose a few pages when I make it look more like I think a novel should. That also means I'll have to adjust the cover.
BUT, the cover! Glory, glory hallelujah, that deserves a post of its very own. I'll take a pic and post it sometime today, more than likely. It's beautiful. The color is just glorious. I am thrilled.
If you would like to win a copy of the paperback version of TBD (once it's properly redone), go sign up for the giveaway at Goodreads—or, if you blog & you'd like to host a giveaway of the book, I'll hook you up. Just let me know. Email me about your blog at RedTashBooks@gmail.com and I'll give it a look-see.
Today's illustration is another incredible work of art from ARC, one of my very favorite sites on the internet.
