Nanowrimo Day 19:

I just wrote a footnote about how since the troll population explosion, only 1% of trolls control the bridges.  And how the bridges that are out, might actually be closed because they're occupied by less fortunate trolls, protesting.

Hello, Shermageddon, five miles from where I sit, typing.  I'm onto you.

Also, how many times per book is it acceptable to refer to pitchforks?  Is three too many?  I just hit that magical number.

Lots of backstory today.  Harlow meets a Changeling, but he doesn't know what it is, or what's happening to the kid.  I don't know the kid's name, but I like him, and I hope I'll see him again, whether in this book or next.

Speaking of other books, I think I've come up with titles for the sequel.  Troll or Trash is the clear winner, in my mind, but Tim prefers Troll or Park.  Hrm.  We shall see.

Reminds of the Sample Gates and Dunn Woods in This Brilliant Darkness.  Not *quite* right, a little too goth, but, um, hello.  BEAUTIFUL.

Happy Friday, freakazoids & robots!  Please report to the dancefloor!

Got some good news!  The winner of my Kindle giveaway is getting hers early!  (Check yer twitter, D, I zapped you a delivery estimate.)

In the meantime, had a really interesting email conversation with a book reviewer, who had lots o' questions.  I'm looking forward to this one going live, so in-depth were these Qs.  I hope my answers were up to par.

Tim is now forcing me to go to dinner with him, so I shall catch you on the flipside, my peeps!  TGIF!

Nanowrimo Day 18:

Signs this book is way fun:

Chapter 22 is entitled "When Tinkerbell Attacks"
I got to channel Napolean Dynamite for a moment of teen frustration
Googled "hellhound" to see if it should be hyphenated.  (Why did I hyphenate it?  Was that a formatting issue?)
I just quoted LL Cool J.

Notable nano:

"Start talking, or I'm going right back into the flea market and joining that roller derby team."

"What world?  The…fairy world?"  I felt stupid saying it.  "And Gennifer's not going to 'end up' anything!  You're supposed to help me save her!"

"At this point, Deb, she's going to have to get in line.  You're a loose cannon, you've added that poor Derek kid to the list—" He looked like he wanted to explode, his lower tusks jabbing into the air with every angry word.

He took a deep breath, closing his eyes for just a second, and began again.  "Yes.  The fey realm.  The world of trolls and goblins and gremlins and worse.  But—I don't know what I was thinking.  You're not like your sister.  There won't be any going back for you.  You're changing—and I should have known.  Should have known you would!"

"Going back to what?  Going back to Cali?"

He laughed.  "I don't think so, Deb."

Not a huge word gain today, but the day is young, and we're having a write-in, so, we'll see…

Nanowrimo Day 16 17:

Mace is a dwarf!  I hadn't realized, until just now.  He's a smaller player (pun acknowledged), but, still.  Just thought I'd throw that out there.  Who else would work with iron, if trolls and fae cannot?  Dwarves are famous for their metal-working skills.  Duh, Red!  Of course, he's been a dwarf all along.  Harlow owes him a debt in the next book.
I just titled a chapter Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me.
I have no other way to share this song with you, so go here & play "Wed in a Bed of Pixies," and note to Milk:Blood, where are you now?

Notable nanos:

"Lest no one harm thee,

Lest no one thieve.

Lest no one wake thee,

Lest no one grieve."

A buzzing, glowing cloud of pixies rained down.  The first wave of attackers was upon us.

If you'd like to support this former derby-girl turned author, click on the pic above and buy my book, This Brilliant Darkness.  There's a tiny bit of roller derby in it (not much!).
