Exploring the Resort Vacation in Cancun
From the edge of my balcony, I could see both the ocean and the lagoon.
I’m really not the all-inclusive type.
At least, I didn’t think I was. But on a recent trip to Cancun, I began to see things differently.
I spent a week at the Royal Sunset Beach Resort – though, to be fair, I only spent part of the time actually on the resort. I discovered that it can be a great jumping-off point for exploring a destination.
As you start your day, you don’t have to go looking for breakfast in the morning – j...

Jostling Through Java by Train
Our train. Not fast. Not particularly comfortable. But as you’ll see, a great choice.
I lovethe train.
I love it because it not only gets you to your destination but also connects you to the reality of local transportation, provides a real sense of a country’s scale, immerses you into a culture and offers sights that areotherwise unavailable.
Thisis my second trip with Overseas Adventure Travel(OAT) and both times they have included a train journey as part of it. While train travel in Asiais not...

From the Frenzy of Jakarta to the Calm of Bogor’s Botanical Gardens – in Photos
Children at the Istiqlal Mosque – Indonesia’s largest mosque and the third largest in the world.
Jakarta is huge.
Having only spent two days here I can’t claim to know the city well but I can say that it shows its population of over 10 million in the traffic, frenzy of people everywhere and the pollution. I am not fond of any of these things. However, there is also beauty in this city. Despite the number of tourists and expats this city attracts I was received with welcoming smiles from the loc...

A Taste of Hershey Harrisburg
Thank you, Thoreau.
I love it when a destination surprises me.
When you think about great food and drink, Pennsylvania may not be the first place to pop into your mind. And when you hear the name Hershey, it may be an image of foil-wrapped chocolate kisses that comes up. But I can tell you that there is some good eating and drinking (and a lot of personality!) to be experienced in the Hershey Harrisburg area.
