Live Creatively and Travel More – 7 ideas

At the Vancouver Meetup.

At the Vancouver Meetup. From left to right, Rebecca, Ralph, Tony, me, Zuriel and I want to say Carol but I think I’m wrong. If someone can tell me I’ll update this caption.

Last month I attended two reader meetups.

One in Vancouver. The other in San Francisco.

One person lives on a boat. Another downsized their apartment. Yet another rented out her condo to suppor...

Cycling San Francisco and What’s Behind Door #1

A helmut is no fashion statement but it's important.

A helmet is no fashion statement but I don’t cycle without one.

I was door-prized.

This is a term known to cyclists. It’s when a car door is opened, hits a cyclist and throws them into the street – often into traffic. Many are killed that way.

I was lucky.

It was way back in the 90s and I was cycling along busy Queen Street East in Toronto. As I was passing a parked car the driver threw open the door and I was thrown into the street. Fortunately, there was no traffic.

I wasn’t wearing a helmet. An...

Toronto. My home town. My option for a micro-vacation.

Toronto. My home town. My option for a micro-vacation.

Few of us live life free of all restrictions.

When it comes to planning for travels, most of us have to be realistic about our limitations while pursuing our travel dreams. To successfully balance life and travel start planning from the point of great...

An Invitation Across the Nation: buskers, tips and videos.

Venice Beach, California

Venice Beach, California

There is talent in the streets.

In just about every major city in the world there are people who play their heart out in the hopes that you’ll enjoy and part with a buck or two.

Musicians, magicians, acrobats and mimes… The art scene is not known for offering financial stability so these entrepreneurial artists rally their confidence and put themselves and their talent on the line.

And then, people walk by.

On my trip to San Francisco and LA I stopped to listen to a number...

No Guilt Solo Travel: 6 thoughts on making yourself a priority

Solo traveler from France.

This is Claude. He was in his 70s when I met him while traveling Patagonia, Chile. He was inspirational! I can’t recall whether he left a wife at home or not. And I suppose it’s not pertinent. He is his own person.

I receive many emails from readers about specific solo travel issues. This one, from Jim, is aboutovercoming guilt and making himself a priority so that he can travel solo. Because I suspect that it ap...
