Five years!
Solo Traveler is five years old this week and I have two special posts to mark the occasion.
In this first, I want to celebrate you – with a little help from Fatboy Slim.

The Wadden Sea – close encounters with unusual creatures.

I marked STS for the Solo Travel Society into the mud.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is know for its mudflats, over 10,000 plant and animal species that live within the mud and the sea and as a crucial stopover for millions of migrating birds.
Wadden Sea runs along the coast from the Netherlands to Denmark and includes a chain of islands. I visited the Wilhelmshaven part of Wadden Sea, north of Breman in Germany.
Wilhelmshave is a naval-base town of...

Be Rich with All You Gain On the Way – a travel poem & Sean Connery

The journey may not always be smooth. The road may be a little rough. But it is there to savor and grow rich from.
I don’t believe that the importance of the journey has ever been so eloquently expressed.
Written over 100 years ago by C.P. Cavafy (29 April 1863 – 29 April 1933) the poem, Ithaka, is as relevant as ever. Its beauty in ideas and language is deserving of our attention as it will give voice to much of what you have thought and take your thoughts farther.
After you have enjoyed it in...
