Get to Know Rachel D'aigle, Vol 5: Oh The Things I've Done to Make a Living!
I started writing this post thinking it would be simple, and then realized that I have held MANY jobs over the years. I thought I'd share what this fantasy writer has done to make a living, before becoming a nearly full time writer.
I ended up separating the list into groups, to make it easier for myself to remember them all!
As a young girl / teen and up until College:
Baby Sitter
Blueberry Raker
Apple, Bean and Corn and Potato Harvester
Hay Bailer
Garden Weeder
Museum Greeter
Museum Receptionist
Shrink Wrapper
Wool Carder
Singer
During College:
Concert Promoter
Ticket Seller
Museum Inventory
Slide Organizer
Student Government
Store Clerk
Sandwich Maker
Donut Maker (Dunkin Donuts ... Yes, Its time to make the Donuts! Remember that commercial?)
Coffee Maker
Pizza Maker (Little Caesars Pizza)
Museum Usher
After College, and therefore after moving to Salt Lake City, UT from Maine :
Dog Walker
Dog Sitter
Burger Maker at Hires Big H.
Boutique Gift Seller / Maker / Crafter
In-layer for Guitar Head Stocks
Mosaic Artist
Singer
Music Booking Agent and Promoter
Resume Writer
Article Writer
Website Creation
Book Reviewer
Continental Airlines, Customer Service and sooooo many other jobs!
So there's the list! Wow! Do I feel old now :)
And there are more that I will inevitably remember over the next few weeks, but that gives you an idea of things I have done over the years to make ends meet. I'm not quite a full time author yet... I'm about 3/4 of the way there! And that's thanks to all of you!!! :)
What kinds of jobs have you held over the years?

Star Wars Uncut, Pardon my Geek!
Couldn't help but watch and love this! Always will be a Star Wars fan!
Youtube description:
In 2009, Casey Pugh asked thousands of Internet users to remake "Star Wars: A New Hope" into a fan film, 15 seconds at a time. Contributors were allowed to recreate scenes from Star Wars however they wanted. Within just a few months SWU grew into a wild success. The creativity that poured into the project was unimaginable.

Get to Know Rachel D'aigle! Vol 4: Reviews of the Personal Kind ...
I was thinking today about two specific moments in my life. One, a compliment I treasure from a dear friend, and the other a terrible remark made to me when I was six, that I just cannot seem to forget!
One of the best compliments I have ever been given: (not made by my husband! I feel the necessity to clarify this, as he compliments me daily, hourly and sometimes by the minute! His compliments mean EVERYTHING to me and sometimes are the only thing that keeps me going when things get tough!!!)
This particular comment, however, was made to my husband by a friend, about ten years ago:
"She looks like a painting come to life, like a walking Monet..."
I just thought this was such a beautiful and unique thing for someone to say and obviously it really stuck with me.
And now: the terrible comment!
As a young girl I was often the target for bully's, so I am no stranger to people's off handed comments. But this comment came from a family friend, and it cut like a dagger.
Family friend: "Aren't you just the most adorable, beautiful little thing I have ever seen..."
Me: I smile widely in response.
Family Friend: "Oh, why are you smiling? I wasn't talking about you... I was talking about that pretty girl behind you..." followed by hysterical laughter.....
I am sure that this family friend had no idea that her words hurt so terribly, after all, I was merely six years old at the time. However, it is painfully obvious to me now, at 38, that this single moment started me on a path of self doubt. I was already very shy and having someone laugh in your face, as if its the funniest joke they've ever heard - that you thought you were pretty - well, this just sticks with you and not in a good way! Kids take things very literally....
It never ceases to amaze me how something someone else says in passing, can forever change your perspective ...
