There are some spam-fighting tools such as Akismet and Mollom, but some of users prefer to turn off comments entirely.
One of our students wanted to disable WordPress comments, so we created this step-by-step tutorial for him.

Custom Formatters for Easy Drupal Embeds
Many websites want to allow users to submit videos, audio files, documents and the like.
However, if those files are stored on other sites, it can be difficult to display that content consistently. For example, if you allow people to submit YouTube videos, there are multiple different types of embed code.
One of our members wanted to allow users to submit Google docs that would automatically be shown inside iframes.
The solution to all these problems is the "Custom Formatters" module. Here's how to use Custom Formatters:

How Do We Stop the Next OpenSSL Disaster?
Open Source hasn't had good press in recent weeks.
The OpenSSL Heartbleed bug led to a whole series of shocked articles revealing that how badly run OpenSSL is. One typical example read, "The Internet Is Being Protected By Two Guys Named Steve".
It's clear that some major open source projects have serious funding problems. Open source has become so successful so quickly that the infrastructure behind projects hasn't caught up.
Many projects are not able to ensure that all essential work gets done. There are more OpenSSL disasters waiting to happen.

Add Gravatar Support in Joomla with Jumi
One of the most popular, useful and long-lived extensions in Joomla is called Jumi. We have got Jumi tutorials on this site that date from early 2007.
Why is Jumi so popular? Jumi is an extension that allows you add to custom code such as PHP, Javascript or CSS directly into our Joomla pages.
One of our members wanted to show Gravatar images of their users when they logged in. They thought this would help create a more welcoming feeling.
We showed them how to use Jumi to integrate Gravatar with Joomla:

How to Troubleshoot SSL Certificates
One of the common issues with running an SSL page is that some of the information on the page doesn't go through the encryption process. This creates a browser warning to the user, which scares away some users.
For example, if the page is part of the checkout process of a shopping cart, users would be hesitant to complete the checkout, since they'd be transmitting their credit card information unencrypted.
The following tutorial will show you how to figure out which code is causing the issue.
